  1. Entirely new coaching staff. More holes than swiss cheese to be filled by the draft and FA. New defensive scheme. Who knows what the offensive scheme will be. No clue who the QB or #1 WR will be. Predicting a season result now is silly. You might as well use a random number generator where the two numbers add up to 16.
  2. Both ends of the spectrum heard from again, but both missing reality (at least in my opinion). Gailey has had a extraordinarily mediocre career both as a professional, and as a college coach. HC or assistant. He has neither "repeatedly failed" or "done pretty well". He has been essentially a .500 coach who has bounced from job to job. Which is granted, a improvement over recent Bills history. But no reason to be booking your superbowl reservations either. Keeping his actual history in mind is wise in my opinion, particularly this coming season.
  3. You need to remember too, that there is no salary cap. But their also is no salary floor either. So all of the borderline practice squad players will most likely have their salaries cut significantly thus saving teams money. This is why the players union is for salary caps (and floors).
  4. What about all the other firings and mediocre results for his entire career to date? I agree that there is no reason to throw Gailey under the bus without giving him (another) chance. But if your definition of "getting on the bus" is blind loyalty and being intentionally ignorant of Gaileys history then I believe you are the one who needs to get over it.
  5. My kids are off from school today (snow day). My son made sure to let me know what HE was going to be doing at 3pm while I was working!
  6. I can usually make it back by the end of the TV timeout. Besides how many goals have been scored in the last 20 seconds!!
  7. And there is none of that in a NHL game. Fighting is not necessary in my opinion, and the Olympics shows that pretty well. But it is a very popular aspect of the game. Watch the crowd the next time you are at a game and notice the response to a good play as opposed to when two guys drop the gloves.
  8. I just googled and they are apparently 2 minutes long. So 18 minutes. So for a 2.5 hour game that's what, 12%. It's a great time to hit the head at the arena
  9. My guess is the bartenders did not want any of the drunken !@#$ pats fans to start a brawl in their bar with you.
  10. The NHL has three TV timeouts per period I believe. That isn't adding much extra time to the games. What adds the time is all the bull **** fighting and all the kindergarten pushing and shoving that has to happen every time a goalie freezes the puck. I think the main reason these Olympic games go so fast is the same reason they are so fun to watch. The quality of the play is so high from all the quality players in the games that offsides and other stoppages in general are few and far between.
  11. That's what I get for not looking closer at the seedings In that case, I see the gold medal game as US and Russia.
  12. It could if they reduced it to a 8 team league Note too, no fighting due to a automatic suspension and the immediate icing (no touch up). I like both of those rules and would be all for the NHL adopting both next season. Fat chance of that though, too many people think the fighting is "necessary".
  13. I don't see that happening. Did you see the Russia game earlier that day? Their roster reads like a NHL all star team (even more so than Canada and the US). I see it as Canada (if they wake up) or the US and Russia. Supposedly Canada is starting Luongo in the Germany game. That could make the difference as Brodeur pretty much sucked ass yesterday.
  14. I never thought about that, but you are right!
  15. Sabres, Real Madrid FC, Chelsea FC
  16. Possible other reasons: 1) He likes Gailey as a person and wanted to help get him back on his feet. 2) He thinks Gailey sucks ass and was hoping a team he plays a lot picked him up. 3) He wanted to light a fire under Wade. Gailey spent 2 seasons as HC in Dallas and managed to barely break .500 overall and to lose both playoff games he coached. Given JJ's history and personality, of course Gailey was going to get shown the door there as well. But after all Gaileys firings after that (and there were several), JJ did not hire him for any other position. Why if it was such a mistake???? Facts are facts ICE. Gailey is a well traveled (as in fired a LOT) coach who has had what you can call at best a mediocre career overall. He seems like a nice enough guy, and certainly experienced. I am not for him, or against him as the Bills HC. He was probably the best that the Bills could get under the circumstances. And no matter what anyone thinks of him, he IS the Bills HC now. If you need a quote from the one person who stated firing him was a mistake (as opposed to all the others who have made no such claim that I know about, particularly GT who had to pay him out of his contract in order to fire him) as a vehicle to get yourself fired up and Billieving again then knock yourself out. Nothing wrong with feeling passionate about your team and wanting very badly to like their decisions. I am just so sick of the "mistake" statement I lashed out at you. I suppose if there were more positive things to say about the situation I wouldn't be so sick of this one.
  17. Gawd I am so sick and !@#$ing tired of reading this line all the time. Just think a little, if it was such a big MISTAKE, then why didn't Jummuh ever hire him back in ANY capacity? He certainly had his chances. As I have said in other threads, I am neither for or against the Gailey hire. But for the love of God, can we please stop the Cowboys "mistake" nonsense everyone?
  18. I prefer choice C ... neither. There is absolutely no reason based on Chans record anywhere to get excited about him being the HC. There is also no reason to get excited about Buddy based on the limited moves he has made so far. But there is also no reason to assume that the good ole boy connection is going to blow the draft, FA, or generally suck ass for the next 3-4 years either. I don't particularly like the Gailey or Nix hires, but I understand them. Given the current circumstances with the Bills, I believe there were the "best available" guys they could get. I don't feel the need to "cry in my beer" about how much we will suck this season. Nor do I feel the need to "get on board with the new regime". I prefer to be ambivalent and hope for the best.
  19. The probably just got their season ticket invoice
  20. I don't care how many more you add. There will never be enough troth space for the mad rush to get rid of the beer.
  21. A bucket of warm piss? Pass on the chunky soup guy.
  22. I believe there are so many positions of need that the Bills truly can wait for their turn and pick the best available. Chances are good that the best available is going to be a position we need. I certainly wouldn't throw away draft picks to trade up for someone unless they are pretty damn sure he will end up a franchise player (and Ralph and Russ will pay him). One thing is for sure, it promises to be a very interesting off season as we see what the Good Ole Boys do both in the draft and FA.
