  1. Maybe they can structure something like Merrimans deal and take a flier on Colton. At this point what have the Bills got to lose.
  2. That he'd rather play for a SB contender?
  3. Great plan. Design your player contract strategy around the short term satisfaction of the fans. Sounds like a Russ Brandon style plan (think T.O.).
  4. I understand they can setup payment however they like, but the cap hit is what you actually pay the player that year or is it averaged out over the duration of the contract like in hockey? Hmmm seems Google is my friend. The NFL cap hit is what the player is paid. Interesting. You can learn something new every day.
  5. I'm not sure this part is true, is it? In hockey anyway you divide the dollars by the number of the years for the cap hit per year. So you can sign a player to a 10 year 50 million dollar contract and pay him $49,999,991.00 the first year and a dollar a year for the remainder of the contract but the cap hit is 5 million per year for the 10 years. Is that not true in football?
  6. Perhaps. But you are a negative nancy for bringing that up But what would really say something is if the Bills and Jets make comparable offers with the Bills as a #1 corner and the Jets as a #3 or #4 corner and he takes the Jets offer. An interesting week this is turning out to be.
  7. I don't agree. The way way I see it Poz saw an amount of money that he liked and the opportunity to play MLB in a 4-3 defense. Probably a wise decision for him.
  8. This is a career decision for him. He will go to where he perceives the best offer was made. "loves the Bills", come on man.
  9. From the PC this morning: Which, if you have been listening, is what he has been saying all along. No surprises here.
  10. According to Nix's comments in todays PC I'd say Poz will get a decent offer from the Bills. The rest is up to Poz.
  11. I can only imagine, Russ. I wonder how many people were holding off to see if there was going to be a season.
  12. They really have gone out of their way in years past to make it particularly fun for the kids in the day sessions. If you have kids and are in the Rochester area you owe it to them to take them to camp at least one day.
  13. It is (or at least was as of this past weekend) free for new signups, directtv has been advertising that for a couple weeks now.
  14. It would be very closed minded of Gailey to not have a competition for EVERY position on the roster, including QB. Particularly on a team that went 4-12 last season. And I cannot imagine any decent FA would come to a team like the Bills without assurances that it indeed was a competition for the starting position. It may or may not be Fitz's position to lose, but to go in stating that Fitz is definitely the starter would be asinine. Gailey and Nix are both smarter than that.
  15. I have seen ads on tv recently that if you sign up for directv now they throw in the sunday ticket for this season.
  16. This is not hard to understand. It is all about the money and rightly so. The amounts of money that are arguing over is staggering for a sport with a 16 game season (far more money than there should be in my opinion, but that's another discussion). Why would they or should they care about hurting the feelings of the fans? It does not matter how offensive the fans find this situation, once this issue is resolved they will be back buying tickets and merchandise and watching on TV and the NFL owners and players go back to counting their piles of cash. You just need to remember that to the fans it is a passion, to the owners and players it is a (very lucrative) business. Just ask yourself original poster, once the season starts will the slap in the face of this current "negotiation" cause you to change your viewing or spending habits? If you are like most fans the answer is a resounding "no". There is no need to "ensure the support of the fans". They have that already and they know it, and will take it all the way to the bank.
  17. I figure Mr. Wilsons heirs will sell to the lowest bidder. No one outside of Mr. Wilsons inner circle knows for sure. It makes sense that the highest bidder would get it. But they might give preference to a local bidder who wants to keep the team local out of respect for Mr. Wilson. But then again the other NFL owners have a say in the matter as well. Bottom line is when Mr. Wilson passes we will find out. All these incessant threads about the subject are a huge waste of time.
  18. So much for the feel good no lashing out thread huh.
  19. Finally. There had to be a good projectile vomit story in here somewhere
  20. Gotta love Bills fans. They went 4-12 last season and this year: 1) The offense is the same as last year. 2) Added one potentially very good rookie defensive lineman. 3) Maybe Merriman manages to walk onto the field without hurting himself, and can play at or near his roid level (not likely, but maybe). 4) The Bills opponents, based on last years records anyway, are better than last years opponents. So the Bills defense is improved (if Merriman works out maybe significantly improved), and the offense is the same. Looking at the previous posts I see most have the Bills at 8-8 or better. With some going much better and talking playoffs. Yeah, its mid summer at TBD to be sure
  21. If memory serves, they already break for commercial after the TD, then again after the PAT. They should be able to review 99% of TD's during that first commercial break so this should be a non issue.
  22. I don't know anyone, but I wish you luck.
  23. I'm not a rap fan at all, but man that really sucked ass.
  24. Can't agree with you here my robotic friend. With attendance down overall for the league and all the bad feelings about this current lockout situation I can't see a price like you suggest. I'd be willing to bet you wings and beer on a $1.00B over/under (me taking the under)
  25. Come on man you have been around long enough to know how things work here: Step 1: Fire player. Step 2: Then, and only then, think about if you have someone better to replace the player. Step 3: Complain here when the replacement player is worse than the original player. Step 4: (Optional) B word to high heaven about Mr. Wilson being cheap when the Bills don't sign a stud free agent at that position when either none is available or if said stud player has no interest in playing for the Bills. There, got it? Good
