  1. To throw away? No.
  2. Ralph (he is cheap after all)
  3. Most of the teams that are well below the cap are recent history bottom feeders like the Bills, Bucs, Jags, Browns, Bungles, and Broncos. But you also see a couple teams like the Chiefs and the Bears that are also well under the cap. And Washington, also a recent bottom feeder, with average space to the cap. So while you can see a trend between success and spending, it doesn't always ring true.
  4. Nice August piece.
  5. I applaud your dedication and perseverance.
  6. I never really thought about it that way before, but you are right. The only proven "star" on the entire team is trying to come back from years of injuries and the taint of roid use. Hopefully they play like a team with a chip on their shoulder this season.
  7. I found the article to be fair and well written like the OP stated. Sure there are inaccuracies as others pointed out, but you need to remember this writer does not live in Buffalo and probably has not been to camp. His opinion on the Bills comes from the outside looking in. So yeah he will get some minor points wrong, but the general message of the story in my opinion is accurate. If you have two stories written by competent writers for established organizations, one writer covers one team strictly and spends all of his/her time getting every nuance of the team perfect, and the other who watches multiple teams at a distance and does not get emotionally involved with any one team. Which story is most likely to give an accurate assessment of a team? I'll give you a hint, it's not the one written by the homer.
  8. Well said and I agree with you. I will also add ... so??? It is a business, and the main goal of any business is to make money. So, obviously, the NFL wants to put teams where they will make the most money. Why should the NFL keep a team in a city like Buffalo when more affluent cities want teams? Because Buffalo has good fan support? Because the team has been there for 50 years? Because "it's more than just business, its a passion"? All the feel good stuff is just that, feel good stuff. The almighty buck and ungodly greed will always trump fan support and passion in a capitalist society. That's just the way it is. Whatever happens after Mr. Wilson passes will be what the money grubbing NFL thinks will put the most cash in their pockets, be that staying in Buffalo or moving somewhere else. All the chest thumping, whining, and white knight wishful thinking in the world is not going to change that. C'est la vie.
  9. I don't generally. But in this case it does serve two purposes: 1) Take the pressure off of the "standard" offense to always have to perform well. 2) Gives us a chance to see how creative Gailey is. That is, what things he can come up with all season to surprise defenses beyond standard wildcat.
  10. I can't imagine anywhere near a 17 point spread 3 games into the regular season unless the Bills completely fall flat on their faces the first 2 games. Probably more like Pats -8.5.
  11. I noticed that at camp. I think it is because he has that odd 3/4 delivery, almost sidearm. He has to throw as hard as he can every pass to get any zip on it at all and that makes it looked forced. And this also causes his accuracy issues particularly on the longer routes. At least that's my theory. But overall he is fine for now.
  12. The hammers lot website shows directions from 20 and 20a. I guess now if you are arriving within 5 hours of game time you have to come in from 20a (Big Tree Road) huh.
  13. You may see him catching bombs again now that he has Flacco throwing to him. Time will tell.
  14. Evans wasn't really a NFL caliber #1 in my opinion, but he was the best we had. Now we truly do not have a #1, but we have a handful of #2's. And this is probably fine for this season anyway, unless you were expecting 9 or 10 wins this season of course.
  15. Had a quick look on ticketmaster and it is looking good so far up through the Philly game. Only a few thousand or less each still available. It looks bad after that right now though. From the Jests game and beyond there are many thousands of seats left for each game. If the the Bills manage to come out of the gate hot this season, they should sell. If not, get your internet-ready TV warmed up
  16. To me this is an admission that Nix knows he is still in major rebuilding mode and does not expect much from the offense this year. So he figured he'd take the 4th now when he could get it rather than gamble on getting nothing for Evans after this season. I'm not sure I agree, particularly with Evans in the cheap years of his contract, but it's Buddys call. Hopefully he gets someone decent next draft or this just makes him look foolish. I'm happy for Evans though. Gives him a shot with Flacco who can put the ball accurately downfield.
  17. If Carolina actually offered a first and a second then Nix fumbled in my opinion.
  18. If any team is stupid enough to give up a 1st round pick for Evans the Bills would be monumentally stupid not to take it. But I can't see any team making that kind of mistake. I think a high 2nd might be worth the trade as well for the Bills. Anything lower than that and the Bills are better served to hang on to Lee. Evans is no stud in my opinion, far from it actually. But he is probably the best we have right now so you would need to get an offer for him that will significantly help your rebuild process in order to pull the trigger.
  19. Compare the QB, RB, and WR of GB to the Bills and you will see the reason why.
  20. Ahhhh ok I have a surprise entry. I actually think Spiller might be able to start and do well on a team with a solid offensive line that could reliably open holes. I think if Spiller gets past the line he could do some damage.
  21. Two or three of the Bills offensive line on peoples lists when the Bills Oline is generally considered to be the weak link on this 11 years running cellar dweller team. Classic August. Billieve on
  22. Ralph is cheap. (Ha PTR I beat you to it this time! )
  23. The beardy comes through again Keep dry!
