In that case, the Bills acted very quickly both in getting a HC and also in the HC getting his staff. Which means they got the jump on other teams, but at the same time did not conduct any kind of exhaustive search, and immediately eliminated OCs/DCs as well as supporting staff from the best teams in the NFL (still in the playoffs). I like getting the D coaches from the Jets. That should work out well both from a coaching standpoing as well as what they can provide regarding weaknesses on the Jets O and D. Marrones record at cuse was .500. Not exactly stellar. Except for the ex-Jets I know little to nothing about the other hires, including Marrone himself. I did not want any failed NFL HC so Lovey and Whiz were not popular choices for me, However there are some interesting guys that have potential to be HC candidates that are still in the playoffs and it would not have hurt to look at them. Perhaps the Bills did and decided they liked Marrone best and that would be great. But it feels like the Bills were afraid with all the HC positions available that if they did not act fast they would have been stuck with another Gailey hire. With all the unknowns in the hires I certainly am not going to call it a big win for the Bills, but at the same calling it a bust is equally as silly. So basically I am ambivalent and am in the "wait and see" mode.

First 5 that Doug cuts from Chan era????????????
CodeMonkey replied to metsandbills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hmmm I don't know. Marrone, I believe, likes the run. If so he going to need more than 2 RBs, particularly when one of them is getting up there in age and has gotten hurt the past 2 seasons. Unless he is planning on stocking up via the draft or FA. -
Have to agree with Jerry Sullivan this time

I am no expert when it comes to assistant coaches (or any coaches for that matter). But two points: 1) People here are at the very least accepting of Marrone, just like they were Gailey. Don't expect to hear much negative about him now. 2) If you do like the Marrone hire, or at least ambivalent about it, it would seem to make sense to let him make his own choices about the other coaches and trust that he knows what he is doing. -
Chip Kelly Hired as New Eagles Head Coach

Yeah the Browns better watch out or they will end up with this ex GT coach named Gailey. -

I think it is funny that some piss on the Kelly hire but at the same time praise the Morrone hiring. They are both guys moving from the kiddie table to the big one. Kelly had the better results in college and arguably is inheriting the better players in Philly. As fans we get to sit back and see how it unfolds. Enjoy the ride! -

The reason is that you always. without exception, look like a complete and total ass when you do it. You can tell it after the fact anyway you like. -
What should the Bills do at #8?
CodeMonkey replied to Solomon Grundy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Geez, the Bills took him at #9 overall, suffered through his first few years to where he is now poised to become a big impact player and you want to trade him for just a 1st and a 2nd? Crazyness man. To get Spiller now Nix better need at least a couple in the first, including one pretty damn high. -
Does anybody watch any of the NFL pregame shows???
CodeMonkey replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I usually don't watch them at all but caught a little of one yesterday that showed a very bad, and very scripted "interview" of JJ Watt by the Chin. I thought Cowher was going to have to wipe something of JJ Watts off of his chin by the end of it, Just sayin. -
If you could cherry pick any 2 NFL players.

OT: Browns Hire Rob Chudzinski (HC)
CodeMonkey replied to buffalo1983's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Doubtful. Browns fans were probably saying "poor Bills fans" 3 years ago when Gailey was hired and you didn't see flames on your screen. You saw "Jerrahs biggest mistake", "mega-mind", and "Yes we Chan!". I imagine the majority of Browns fans will accept him openly like the majority of Bills fans accepted Gailey and for that matter Marrone who at this point is a pretty big (pun intended) unknown.. -
I must be jaded. When I saw the title I thought it was going to be about predicting the Bills being in next seasons SB

A question about season tickets...
CodeMonkey replied to DocLawless's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My wife knows almost nothing about football and if she isn't at the game she doesn't watch on TV, but she loves going to the games for the same reason so I know what you mean. No such luck about cheap seats for her though, lower bowl sideline or club. Cha-Ching! -

Different peoples perceptions are interesting. To me that sounds like "I watch half the game on a crappy TV and the other half with the action coming straight at me" To me that would suck, but that's what makes it interesting! And to the OP ... Russ Brandon, and everyone within 75 miles of the Ralph who wants to watch the games on TV, thanks you for your interest! -
Bills hire Doug Marrone to be Head Coach
CodeMonkey replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." - George Santayana. So of course it does matter. But anyone who doesn't at least hope he can turn things around is not a fan in my opinion. -
Did anyone keep the warm fuzzy stories from 3yrs ago?
CodeMonkey replied to Iraq Vet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you are jumping the gun. Marrone must work well with him and thinks he can do well in the NFL or he would have not staked his first NFL HC job on it. Just relax, wait, and see how it plays out. -

What the F makes you think Gailey looked better on paper?????? Certainly not his underachieving in Dallas a decade earlier or being bought out of his contract at Georgia Tech so that he couldn't do any more damage to that program! -

Bills hire Nathaniel Hackett for Offensive Coordinator
CodeMonkey replied to cmjoyce113's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow 19 pages already. I personally don't give a **** if Hacket is 33 or 13. Marrone obviously thinks he is capable and that they work well together. This was obviously Marrones decision so why all the pissing and moaning? It matters not how old he is or what his experience is. The HC wanted him and got him. I hope the same thing happens for DC (someone who Marrone really wants) so that maybe 3 years from now we aren't going through the same process as now. -

i was unaware that in order to hire world class people you had to pick a name that people on a message board have heard of before.
