  1. An interesting question. But: 1) I believe the Toronto series was Brandons brainchild in the first place so why would he abandon it. He is not only responsible for the Bills record, but for the bottom line as well. 2) "No say"? It is still Mr. Wilsons pocket book. If Brandon decides to lighten it significantly with a business, not football, decision then I strongly suspect that Mr. Wilson, as the owner, may have some say still
  2. I actually believe Whaley will have the most say in the HC decision. But at the end of the day we don't know what is going on at OBD right now. But I'll tell you one thing I'm pretty certain of .... It is a busy place.
  3. Yes, that exactly. "Prospective coaches are likely at ease that Ralph is not tinkering in day to day operations." " I'd say that development makes Buffalo a much more appealing place to work, and we're certainly looking to do some significant hiring in the near future."
  4. Don't over analyze. Mr. Wilson is old and in failing health. He realized he can no longer do what he was doing with the Bills. He turned over day to day control to someone he trusts and someone who has been part of his organization (and in my opinion probably making most decisions in recent years anyway) for 16 years. Simple as that.
  5. You certainly read a lot more into yesterdays PC than I do. But I sure hope you are right.
  6. Personally I don't give a flying !@#$ if RB inspires hope in anybody, much less the fan base. He can hire an unknown asst for all I care, as long as he is good at his job and the Bills start winning! !@#$ hope and confidence, WIN!
  7. Wouldn't that be nice for a change.
  8. For what it's worth, from the Bills facebook page: "The Buffalo Bills have formally interviewed former Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt."
  9. .Don't you first hire a HC, have the HC get a OC, THEN get a QB that said HC/OC wants? Why would anyone sign the QB first unless it's the second coming of P. Manning?
  10. True enough. But people were saying that 3 years ago when ChaNix joined. And years before that when Jauron joined. And yet, here we still sit with the same tired "can't be fixed overnight'. At what point is it not considered overnight anymore? Brandon has been around in one capacity or another for the last 16 years I believe. That's one long ass night! I have no doubt that Brandon will do everything in his power to get a quality HC and QB. Just like I'm sure he did when all the coaches and QBs of the past 16 years were hired. We can only hope the Bills will get a good HC and QB this time around. If they don't, it won't be due to lack of effort. But it wasn't the previous times either.
  11. Disagree. Not gone at all. When Mr. Wilson passes the team will be sold. That is all but guaranteed. Any new ownership could break the lease. It would just be expensive (but not necessarily prohibitive) to do so. If the PC announced what many were hoping, some kind of transfer of ownership to a Jim Kelly group for example. Then the "spectre of relocation" would be gone.
  12. Some would argue Gailey could be added to your list as well. And about eras being over, 3 years ago we were supposed to be happy because the Jauron/Trentative era was over. Déjà vu.
  13. I agree regarding Brandon and Nix/Whaley. With Mr. Wilsons age and health it is likely in the extreme that he has been relying heavily on others for the past several years at least. And who better than someone he obviously trusts, Brandon. I see the Brandon news as a good thing as it streamlines the org chart and process of hirings/firings. But hardly "mind blowing" or "monumental" as some seem to believe. Though it had to have been a monumental and sad event for Mr. Wilson to admit that he can no longer do the job. Kudos to him for both recognizing and acting on it. Whaley has been the "GM in waiting" ever since he was hired. I would have preferred him to have been named GM now with Nix as a consultant (basically flipping the apparent pecking order), but we don't know what the actual dynamic will be for the coaching hiring, draft and beyond. At the very least I would think Whaley, as the next GM, would have a huge say in any coach hirings as he will be the GM that has to work with them.
  14. I guess if you are restricted to retreads, getting them from a successful organization makes sense.
  15. I'd agree with that order. But is 4th out of 7 reason to celebrate? A Negative Nancy could have titled this thread "Bills opening ranked 4th worst opportunity" and it would have been equally as accurate It will be interesting who the Bills will be able to attract. Maybe todays "mind blowing" news will help attract top talent
  16. I imagine it was emotional and very difficult for Mr. Wilson to formally turn over the reigns to someone else. But I see it as the same players in the game as it was before the PC today. What I do not quite understand is your apparent strong emotional and confrontational responses.
  17. Look it really is simple. As owner of the team Brandon still reports to Mr Wilson. He just doesn't have to call Mr. Wilson any more before making decisions. Mr. Wilson could withdraw the power from Brandon tomorrow if he wanted to. Obviously I don't know how the dynamic was before now any more than you do. But logically, to me anyway, this is not big news. No square pegs or round holes. Just, as you initially put it, a change in the powerpoint org chart. Not a bad thing, just not anything I see as a reason to get excited about either. YMMV.
  18. I suspect the only way for that to happen is if you stay out of here for a week
  19. Actually they pretty much did. With Mr. Wilsons age and failing health it is not a big stretch to assume that Brandon has been making decisions for some time, with a rubber stamp approval from Mr. Wilson. All that has been removed, in my opinion, is the rubber stamp. Probably more efficient and seems to be having a positive impact on many of the Bills faithful. But at the end of the day more yawn than mind blowing.
  20. So this is the "mind blowing" news huh. I figured Brandon has making most if not all of the decisions for a while now and Whaley would have not come to Buffalo if he wasn't going to be GM within a few years. This just made it all official.
  21. Your response ... "So is this team, yet they are allowed onto the field".
  22. I believe you just showed that Gailey is not a good OC.
  23. I really expected the Bills to stand pat with Gailey. But I guess at the end of the day someone had to get the axe and he was the logical one. My big concern now is that with all the other HC firings that the good OC/DC candidates for a HC job are going to have a lot of choices, other than Buffalo, on where to go.
  24. He probably goes into retirement now. That's an emotional event for most people.
