  1. I tend to agree with you. But I believe Brandon opened up the can of worms with his "no stone unturned" comment. Would have been better off keeping his mouth shut. But what marketing guy can do that?
  2. It usually is. But the choice is to play football and take the risk, or not to play (or be a kicker I guess). The problem is that decision generally comes at a very young age and is driven not by the kids themselves, but by their parents. By the time they hit high school they continue to play because that's what they have done their entire lives up to that point. The NFL is trying to do something about it now. But without game altering rule changes nothing is going to help very much, My sons both asked to play when they were young. Mainly because of watching the Bills games with me. They were never allowed to. They did not like it at the time, but they are getting old enough now to understand the reasoning behind the decision and are grateful for it.
  3. If Brandon has been telling the truth, then it will be who the dominant GM wants, whoever that is at the time of the draft.
  4. Why is he there? Because it is -13 wind chill where he lives and he can be there, that's why. Hell, I'd be there too if the Bills were footing the bill.
  5. So allow me to summarize ... Some think he is the best hire, some think he is the worst hire, and some think he will probably do "OK". Makes sense I guess as no one has any !@#$ing idea how Marrone or Kelly will do in the NFL. Geez I got that much information reading posts here for Gods sake.
  6. Gambling is the only reason I can think of.
  7. Geez he is trying to slam Brady but manages to dis Fitz at the same time
  8. I imagine the skol tin was simply an oversight. But it would not surprise me if some group made a big deal about it. There really is no reason for the incidental swearing though. I mean if a local radio show can afford the equipment to run on a 5 second delay and dump any accidental language, I suspect the major networks could manage to do it too. In fact there were a couple occasions yesterday where players (I assume) voices came through loud and clear with "are you kidding me" type remarks. Easily could have had the F bomb in there
  9. The Bills coaching carousel the past 13 years does not give me any confidence in Russ's ability to know the right guy to turn the team around if he bit him on the ass. But 100% new staff and one would assume a rookie QB so I guess they get a pass next year. So once again we will see in 2 or 3 years if both Marrone and his hiring of his buddies works out. FWIW I like the Jets D coaching hires and I also feel like the sun just might rise tomorrow, or at least next season. But maybe it's just the Pats getting their asses handed to them yesterday putting me in a good mood
  10. The only difference between that and stomping on someone is the direction of the leg movement.
  11. Very easy to reconcile. He may have wanted Whiz, but he isn't skeptical because the Bills chose someone else. He is skeptical because of the haste in which the coach [and his staff] was chosen when the decree from OBD was "leave no stone unturned", and the apparent "hands off" stance the Bills are currently in regarding the coaching staff. I am also skeptical, but hopeful. But honestly I don't see a lot to get excited about at this point.
  12. I do not remember any negative comments about Gailey at the time. It was all "endorsed by Cowher" or "Jerrahs biggest mistake". With Marrone what I am seeing is that he is young and hungry and that most, if not all, of the other teams were interested as well. And as far as player endorsements go, how many Bills players spoke out negatively about Gailey even at the end? Few players would regardless of who the coach is, and rightly so. Don't get me wrong, I expect Marrone to end up being an upgrade over Gailey. But I'm not ready to trade in my "wait and see" mindset for a big glass of koolaid just yet.
  13. As with the Gailey hire.
  14. I see the current situation as no different than it was 3 years ago. Hardcore koolaid drinkers loving the Gailey hire and were thinking superbowl. Hardcore haters cursing OBD for committing such a heinous hire. And the rest scratching their heads a little and hoping for the best. I was scratching my head then and now, not so much over the Marrone hiring as much as the majority of the rest of the hires and the timing of them, and am still hoping for the best. We will see.
  15. It became a 7th because it was conditional. But the situation still remains that with a 7th you may get a starter (see Marcia Brady), or at the very least get some depth and/or a ST player. Nix brought in TJax for one year for the pick, paid him pretty damn well considering, and he was a healthy scratch for every game he was a Buffalo Bill. I wish someone would give me $1Mil+ for doing absolutely nothing. I think that Nix in general has been OK as a GM, but the whole TJax thing was brain dead on his part.
  16. So you PAID MONEY to be like Sully?!?!?!
  17. It beats Lovey. What kind of name is that for a NFL coach I ask you.
  18. In that case, the Bills acted very quickly both in getting a HC and also in the HC getting his staff. Which means they got the jump on other teams, but at the same time did not conduct any kind of exhaustive search, and immediately eliminated OCs/DCs as well as supporting staff from the best teams in the NFL (still in the playoffs). I like getting the D coaches from the Jets. That should work out well both from a coaching standpoing as well as what they can provide regarding weaknesses on the Jets O and D. Marrones record at cuse was .500. Not exactly stellar. Except for the ex-Jets I know little to nothing about the other hires, including Marrone himself. I did not want any failed NFL HC so Lovey and Whiz were not popular choices for me, However there are some interesting guys that have potential to be HC candidates that are still in the playoffs and it would not have hurt to look at them. Perhaps the Bills did and decided they liked Marrone best and that would be great. But it feels like the Bills were afraid with all the HC positions available that if they did not act fast they would have been stuck with another Gailey hire. With all the unknowns in the hires I certainly am not going to call it a big win for the Bills, but at the same calling it a bust is equally as silly. So basically I am ambivalent and am in the "wait and see" mode.
  19. Hmmm I don't know. Marrone, I believe, likes the run. If so he going to need more than 2 RBs, particularly when one of them is getting up there in age and has gotten hurt the past 2 seasons. Unless he is planning on stocking up via the draft or FA.
  20. As always it's wait and see. It will be interesting to see how Marrone and Kelly both do with them both coming out of college programs.
  21. I am no expert when it comes to assistant coaches (or any coaches for that matter). But two points: 1) People here are at the very least accepting of Marrone, just like they were Gailey. Don't expect to hear much negative about him now. 2) If you do like the Marrone hire, or at least ambivalent about it, it would seem to make sense to let him make his own choices about the other coaches and trust that he knows what he is doing.
  22. Yeah the Browns better watch out or they will end up with this ex GT coach named Gailey.
  23. I think it is funny that some piss on the Kelly hire but at the same time praise the Morrone hiring. They are both guys moving from the kiddie table to the big one. Kelly had the better results in college and arguably is inheriting the better players in Philly. As fans we get to sit back and see how it unfolds. Enjoy the ride!
  24. Agreed. He is satans spawn because of who he plays for. But had the Bills been lucky/smart enough to get him people here would be ball washing him even more than they do Jimbo.
