My Case For: Lamar Jackson

Well then back your argument then. Other posters have offered their opinion, but have made points to support their stance. You have offered nothing but seeming disdain for the Buffalo Bills in general, and in Lamar Jackson. -

Impossible. He is a run first QB who can’t read a defense or go through his progressions. Tyrod 2.0, amirite? -
Hot for Teacher: Bronx style

First of all...oh most definitely. Secondly, she should be pardoned because she is a public school teacher in the Bronx. Just let her keep teaching. That’s punishment enough. -

Fair point. But I would contend that all stats need to be considered in context. Something to note is that LJ’s pass completion % increased by 2-3 point per season. This in spite of a pourous offensive line, a real lack of talent around him, and a ton of drops. I wonder what his adjusted comp % would be if you took out the drops. My opinion is that I think that LJ has become a better and more accurate passer than his comp % reflects. -

Jim Kelly’s NFL career completion % was 60.2. Just sayin.... -

I do not want Tyrod back, and LJ is not my favorite QB prospect in this draft. After Rosen and Darnold, my favorite is Allen. I’m not trying to make any argument in particular. I’m merely offering an opinion in opposition to posters who are saying that LJ is merely a running QB who can’t read defenses or go through his progressions. Having watched a lot of Jackson over the years, he has made tremendous strides to become a better pocket passer. He is reputed to be an extremely hard working player who is constantly watching film and working to better himself. If Dennison was still OC I would be opposed to drafting LJ. The Daboll hire, however, has me intrigued about what he could do with a QB like LJ. I think he has tremendous upside. -

You do know we just hired a new OC, correct? One, in fact, that is regarded as an OC who adapts his offense to capitalize on the strength of his QB and other play makers... -

He has improved every year as a passer, and by all accounts is a film room junky. Very hard working, motivated kid. -

I think LJ is underrated as a passer, and has gotten a lot better at reading defenses and going through his progressions. His footwork needs some help, which affects his accuracy at times, but this is something that can be fixed. He has rare arm talent, good instincts, and very good pocket presence, IMO. Very high ceiling, and the athleticism is merely a bonus that will surely reigned in in the NFL. I’m not saying he’s a sure fire franchise guy, but I think the Tyrod 2.0 cliche is growing tiresome. -

Heard this way a good one from a colleague yesterday. Going to check it out tonight. I’m in a show hole again after finishing Peaky Blinders. Started watching The Americans on Amazon. E1 was pretty good. -
Service/Support Animal Crackdown
Johnny Hammersticks replied to T&C's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I was listening to a NPR show recently where they were discussing emotional support animals. Essentially, they were saying that anyone can easily go online and have just about any animal “certified” as an emotional support animal for a fee of a couple hundred bucks. They took several callers, and a few of them flat out admitted that they got their dogs/cats certified purely because it was cheaper than paying for them to fly the regular way. -

Best sub or hoagy ever
Johnny Hammersticks replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I went to Oswego for grad school l (04-07), and I hit up the sub shop just about every night after the bar. The cheeseburger sub was very good, but I also used to get the mixed Italian a lot. They had this homemade spicy pepper relish that was just unreal. I miss that place. Rudy’s was another one of my go-to spots. Best fried fish sandwich and ice cold beer. So good. -

I actually did smoke morning glory seeds a long time ago. I think I was like 14 or 15 years old, and my older brother told my friends and I that if you smoked the seeds you got high similar to smoking pot. I knew what pot was because my brother smoked up in his room all the time, but I had not yet tried it. So we went to the store, bought a few packets of seeds, and went out in the woods and smoked some out of a homemade pipe we fashioned from the end of an old garden hose. I remember being disappointed because all I felt was a headache. True story. IIRC, dried banana peels were another thing that were “rumored” to get you high if your smoked them. Never tried that though. Eventually, I just started smoking weed -

I once smoked a packet of morning glory seeds because I heard that it made you high. This was last weekend. -

I don’t know if it’s a New England thing or a Vermont thing, but they love to put shredded cabbage on subs here. At first I was appalled and wouldn’t try it. It since has grown on me. Adds a nice crunch to the sandwich. As long as the cabbage is shredded super thin. At most places it’s either cabbage or romaine leaves. No shredded iceberg. Not a big fan of romaine on my sub.
