  1. I think the Jets have to bring Wentz in and see if they can salvage this season. Zack Wilson can get a few more games while Wentz learns the playbook and gets some practice in and have that be the final chance for Wilson. But yeah two-plus seasons of Wilson have shown not a whole lot to be excited about.
  2. I agree that there is no guarantee that draft picks will be there later, I am just talking about myself as an amateur fan thinking if pundits say he could have been drafted later then why not take him later? But pundits were generally saying he was a bit "over-drafted" just a quick look at what some pundits were saying. "Although it was a bit earlier than expected, you could tell Beane was excited about the Bernard pick Friday night." https://theathletic.com/3283624/2022/04/30/terrel-bernard-draft-buffalo-bills/ Mel Kiper call him a "reach on his board" https://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/draft2022/insider/story/_/id/33827196/nfl-draft-grades-mel-kiper-jr-picks-steals-sleepers-favorite-2022-classes-all-32-teams#BUF NFL.com had a draft projection of round 5 https://www.nfl.com/prospects/terrel-bernard/32004245-5223-6424-136f-901f81674ee9 Draft Network had a draft projection of round 4 https://thedraftnetwork.com/sr-prospect/terrel-bernard-7acaddc4-edff-42bf-9ad1-e89b6873b0e9/ PFF didn't like the pick thinking he was more of a day 3 pick but others liked it. I am sure other pundits liked the pick but I am just going off of what I remember at the time.
  3. I stand corrected as I misread what you stated. I still don't think that the Bronco's offense vs. Commanders' defense is an apt comparison to the Bills offense vs. Commanders' defense. The Broncos were not winning most of that game and sitting on a lead with a defense dominating. The Commanders/Broncos game was a one-score game at the half. The Broncos jumped out to a 3-possession lead early in the 2nd quarter but that lead was cut down to just 7 points by halftime. The Broncos were for most of the game playing to add to a tenuous lead or to come back from a small deficit. The Bills had taken a two-possession lead by the end of the first quarter and were shutting out the Commanders the Bills knew that they could just win by kicking field goals and not turning the ball over. The game flows were completely different. The Bills scored points on all but 3 drives and one of those drives they didn't score started on their one yard line (and even on that drive the Bills still managed to completely alter field position and eat clock). The Broncos did not convert points on 5 drives despite having the need to score on every possession. It's just not comparable the games in my opinion.
  4. All the pundits stated how the Bills probably could have gotten him later in the draft. I didn't hate taking some depth at LB as going into 2022 there wasn't much depth behind Milano and Edumonds. But I thought if they could have gotten this player in round 4-5 why not wait and take someone else that can have a better impact at another position like a guard? However, the Bills front office liked what they saw and took the player they wanted when they wanted to which has had good returns just a year later.
  5. "The starting offense only scored 24 points" The offense excluding the final TD drive with backups scored on all but 3 possessions with one of those three possessions starting at the one-yard line (and that drive resulted in a shift of field possession as the Josh INT on that drive occurred deep in Commander's territory). The only concerning moment from the offense was the inability to get 2 yards on a 3rd and 2. The offense in the red zone played conservatively because they were playing complementary to the defense and just taking points to try to build up a multi-score lead. Had the offense "needed" to score more I think they could have. The game got into garbage time with 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter which means despite "only" scoring 24 points the offense likely could have score more had the game been closer. I think comparing the Bills offense in a blowout WIN over the Commanders to the Broncos offense in a blowout LOSS is extremely misleading.
  6. The Bills offense played complementary to the defense. The offense was mostly conservative as they knew the defense had the Commanders number. They scored on 4 out of 5 drives in the first half building a big two-possession lead. Then to start the second half they got the ball on the one and turned the ball over deep in the Commanders territory effectively chewing up time and shifting field position. Some questionable penalties stalled the drive. The only time the offense really frustrated me was the inability to get into field goal range on the second drive of the first half. They had a 3rd and 2 and couldn't get two yards on two downs. The rest of the way the Bills offense scored two TD's on their next two possessions even with the second TD coming with backups in due to the defensive score and clock running lower. Overall the Bills had only had 3 drives that did not end in points or a kneel-down. And of those three drives one started on the one yard line and ended with a shift in field position and chewed up clock for a team up 16. I would have liked it more for the Bills to convert that third and short it was insanely frustrating that they couldn't get Josh behind center and hand it off to Murray twice and just get the yards. In the end if the offensive line holds up as it has the past couple weeks I think the offense will continue to perform at a high level.
  7. Week 4 is going to be the measuring stick of how good the Fins are. They won a close shootout against a middle-of-the-pack Chargers team and then a one-score game away against a middle-of-the-pack Patriots team. They then had an epic blowout of one of the worst teams in the league in Denver at home. That's a pretty good three game stretch but I'm also not ready to crown this offense the 2007 Patriots either. The way some are talking about the Fins is similar to how some talked about the Pats after 3 games in 2007. The Patriots in 2007 scored 38 points exactly in each of their first 3 games while their opponents only scored 14, 14 and 7. And one of their opponents was a Chargers team that was coming off a 14-2 season who would go onto win 11 games that year. Miami is good and certainly deserves their respect but I am also not ready to call them the SB favorites or the best team in the league or conference until I see them beat the Bills in Buffalo this Sunday. I think people are letting that 70-point number get them carried away. The one time they faced a quality defense with good coaching they scored 24 points. Lets seem how they fare against the Bills nasty defense.
  8. My impressions are thus far 1. Weeks 1-3ish are kind of an extended pre-season. With less OTA's and one less pre-season week teams are figuring out more and more during the early weeks of the season. This is similar to college football where there is no preseason so teams schedule 2-3 weak teams early to help break the season in. But in the NFL these games aren't against unranked teams they are against NFL competition. But after 3 weeks I think we will settle in more. 2. The Bills are contenders. The additions of Torrence and McGovern along with improved play from Brown (who may still not be good but is better than he was last year) and Dawkins (Dawkins was average to above average last year this year he has been very good) have completely changed the complexion of the offensive line which will change the prospects of the offense long term. The defense is good but nastier on the defensive line thanks to the break out of Oliver and the addition of Flyod and the continued development of Groot and AJ. ST unit is also solid. Overall the Bills will be in contention if they stay healthy. 3. KC is the team to beat in the AFC. Much like the Patriots when Brady was there KC is the team to beat and KC is treating the first 2.5 months of the regular season like a tune up for the playoffs. The KC offense will be up and down until about mid-November. KC's biggest issue is their offensive line and WR's. They are going to baptize their WR's and offensive line by fire and tune them up over the next 8 games so that by late November Mahomes and Reid have gotten them into gear for the playoff run. With a defense that has Chris Jones, 3 first round picks invested in the past two seasons and some other nice pieces KC just needs to tune up their offense and they will be great as usual. Their division also is garbage which helps. 4. The AFC is not the slaughter house we thought but it is no cake walk either. The AFCW teams outside of KC are not that much to write home about, maybe the Chargers can get to 9 wins and sneak a playoff birth. The AFC South is mediocre no threat from any team out there. The AFCE is more of a two team race between the Bills and Fins as Rodgers loss has tanked the Jets season and while the Pats are a tough team (great defense fairly well coached) they aren't contending for anything more than a wildcard. The AFCN is about as tough as we thought it would be. The Ravens have looked mostly good outside of a bizzare loss to Indy in OT, the Bengals are stumbling but we will see how that all shakes out, the Steelers look like a quality professional football team and the Browns have a great defense and Watson will only improve as the season goes on. 5. The NFC is the 49ers to lose. Purdy is Jimmy G but on a much cheaper deal with a slightly better feel for the offense. That's all they really need to do to win. They have a great defense, solid ST unit and a great offensive supporting cast. Competent QB play will take them to the SB. The Eagles are a tough out but that's the only other team that is in the NFC that I think has a shot at knocking them off. The NFC South is a joke, the NFCN has some tough teams but no real contenders and the NFCW has some tough teams but no one on the 49ers level and we just saw the Cowboys while a good team aren't contenders. My guess to project the AFC playoffs after a just under three-week temperature check. Division Winners: Bills, KC, Houston and Ravens Wild Cards: Miami, Bengals and Steelers Wild Card Bubble: Browns, Patriots and Chargers NFC Division Winners: 49ers, Eagles, Falcons and Packers Wild Card: Cowboys, Lions and Seahawks Wild Card Bubble: Rams and Saints
  9. Shakir made only two catches but they were both crucial catches one a TD the other a key third down. He should get more snaps.
  10. AJ had 6.5 sacks last year which given his rotational role is pretty good. He is playing like a player looking to get a big contract. It manifested today with the pick six and a sack. He isn’t going to be a dominant player but he can be a really good rotational player
  11. Torrence was touted as being the best guard in the draft and he has lived up to that hype. McGovern has played above his “solid but unspectacular” billing. Both players have really improved the play of the offensive line as Morse and Dawkins have continued good play (Dawkins looks even better this season) and Brown has been at least a bit better than he was last season as well. But the biggest difference has been the guard play. It making a big impact
  12. I think he is only on the PS
  13. I love DJ Moore but he is on a 20 million dollar a year contract. I just don’t see that working for the Bills. I think if the Bills are going to add a pass catcher it is going to be a WR on a expiring contract like Mike Evans or Jerry Jeudy or a WR on a rookie deal. I doubt with the cap crunch the way it is McBeane is going to want a big contract with multiple years on it.
  14. I would like to see Elam play, he is by far the most athletic corner and the Fins have two of the fastest WR in the league and they should try to put Elam out there as he did fairly well last season against the Fins. Scheme wise who the ***** knows but I think they would try to get pressure with the front 4 and go two deep zone.
  15. Von, Floyd and Groot should make for a potent edge rush and AJE is also having a nice season and Shaq Lawson is playing his role and providing depth. With Ed Oliver breaking out in the interior and D Jones still holding up solid the defensive line may be the best we have seen in the McD era
  16. Easily the MVP today. Defense is why the game was a blowout
  17. Offense was a B+, defense was an A++, special teams was an A. The offense played mostly complementary and just chipped away to build a two score lead before the game got away from the Commanders. Offense should have been able to build a three possession sooner but that’s all the nitpicking i can do honestly
  18. As bad as this game was they still are 2-1
  19. The defense only out scored the offense by 3
  20. That happens a lot as many teams get 40% of their sacks in their top 4 sack total games.
  21. Depends on what he is asking for, would be nice to keep him in the fold at a good price
  22. Dude should be AFC DPOW
  23. Miami is going to be a legitimate test for this team. I don’t put too much stock into what they did against a bad Denver team at home but they pulled off a couple of close victories against decent teams in weeks one and two. They have a lot of talent and are clicking. I’m very interested to see if McD activates Elam to try to get more speed on the field. Definitely going to see a lot of two high looks against Cheeta and Waddle if Waddle is cleared.
  24. That’s the way I look at it get as many of the key starters out as possible both sides of the ball
  25. Leisurely garbage time when your team is up big is the best. Crack a beer and enjoy
