Anti Redskins Ad Airing During Primetime
SRQ_BillsFan replied to Doug Flutie Band's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can't say I honestly care one way or another, I am in the middle. I know that without a doubt my view of the world is small, but I have never ever heard the word used in a deragative sense except in a 1950's black and white movie. I have heard the word "Torry" used as well to negatively hurt someone loyal to England in the 1700's. Has it's use as a slur perhaps passed? I have heard people called a "savage" or a "dirty" or "drunkin Indian" but since I work in IT I am never sure about which type of Indian, Indian even refers to? Never have I ever heard two people going at it use this term. So I ask the question (from a truly innocent point of view) ... how many of us have actually heard this term used as a slur? I realize even if no one here ever has that it does not make it right. We have all heard other slurs, but truly, this one? Other than in a bad movie. Apologies if I have offended anyone on the right, left, or in the middle. . -
That thing here in Tampa would never work in Buffalo, the snow, ice and winds would tear through it rather quickly. I am in favor of a roof. Split on actually caring if it opens, but agree that would be nice. Funny that the places that actually need a "roof" have to pay more for it than the places that want it for cosmopolitan reasons. I remember reading over the winter about them having to go up on the roof of the Carrier DOME to remove excess snow before it collapsed. They also had some unique way of lowering it when not it use to deal with the snow. On my phone at work, so don't have time to find the link.

Golisano was not the cheapskate people seem to think. Sure he didn't throw his own money in and lose millions each year. He took a team from bankruptcy and said it needed to stand on its own. Because of this and the Drury/Brier mess people assume he was cheap. The facts do not support it. This has all been covered many times on this board. While I agree he should have locked in Brier/Drury a year earlier on a friendly contract, not signing either for big dollars to keep them at the end turned out to be the right move. Additional politics aside. .

No way the NFL will let the Bills into the lucrative Hamilton market. They use it like LA every time the Bills need a new stadium. Hamilton is primed to be the next big dollar expansion team. I think the queen slept there once.

The NFL did sign off on the Bills lease. This has been mentioned in several articles. -

Doesn't the NFL hold the draft combine there as well? Those are two pretty big ones to miss, which makes one wonder how many small things were missed There simply has to be 3-4 100 guest weddings that have been left off the list, maybe more? Are we getting close to 50 events yet? . -

SRQ_BillsFan replied to SRQ_BillsFan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Bump, nobody? -
I have been a member here for several years and a lurker for years before that. Like most of us, I am excited about the upcoming season. I have been a lurker at BBills.com for about a year and wanted to comment on a frustrated post and decided to register. Apparently you need to be "refered" to join, anyone willing to refer me? I'm a nice guy that doesn't spit when I talk. Sure I live near Sarasota Fl now, but was born in MFilmore lived in the Black Rock section before moving out to Holland. Like most, left because of my job. Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? .

The owner would need to negotiate in good faith. Then the NFL tries to mediate. While they could allow this stance, I don't think that is likely. . -

Thank jw, not sure why people want to make this seem as it is a standard photocopy lease like they signed on their last apartment. The NFL has also made it tougher to move a team so an owner can not just move it on his own without league approval. And to bring things back to the lease, not only was it signed by the Bills, it was also signed by the NFL. It would be a huge shock to see it easily broken as some on here seem to think. -

Peition on change.org for stadium on Lackawanna waterfront

Interesting thought about Beth steel. Not sure if there might be federal dollars available for the cleanup? Putting structures there that people would not live in full time would make it safer since any exposure to things left behind would be reduced. It may be the only way that we could put something there in the next 50/100 years. So it could be a way to utilize lakefront property that would be unusable and an eyesore for year to come. Not my 1st choice but if it gets rid of and cleans up the site that would be a positive step for the city. Traffic would be a problem however. We could save some money as the structure may not require lights for the field. Imagine watching the stadium and fans glowing while the rest of the country watches us play a home game on a Monday night. . -
Question: not sure how much but, if the team moves from Buffalo and makes significantly more in LA, how much impact does that have on the other owners? What does it potentially do to the salary cap. While this may not be a huge amount would we get 9 "no" votes from teams that don't want to lose another 5-10 million when the salary cap goes up. Buffalo being on the low end of the scale has to help to keep it lower? Plus teams couldn't use LA anymore when they need a new stadium. Just like it is being used here/now. .

The. NFL. Relocation Rules also state that a larger transfer fee (relocation) fee could apply based on the perceived enhancement in the value of the franchise. In effect the other 31 owners would be able to split the value added to the team if it moves to say, LA. The owner would not necessarily reap all of the rewards. http://m.startribune.com/?id=148181325

While anything can be interpreted diffrently and the commissioner can change things the NFL relocation rules state that a team that is well supported can not simply relocate a team to make more money. " Article 4.3 also confirms that no club has an "entitlement" to relocate simply because it perceives an opportunity for enhanced club revenues in another location. Indeed, League traditions disfavor relocations if a club has been well-supported and financially successful and is expected to remain so. Relocation pursuant to Article 4.3 may be available, however, if a club's viability in its home territory is threatened by circumstances that cannot be remedied by diligent efforts of the club working, as appropriate, in conjunction with the League Office, or if compelling League interests warrant a franchise relocation. " http://m.startribune.com/?id=148181325 There are a lot of things that would have to happen for the team to simply up and move. Not saying it can't happen but the area can do a lot to try to keep the team right here. No matter who buys it. .

Golisano to bid on Bills & propose new WS staduim
SRQ_BillsFan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I moved right after the downtown mall opened. It was supposed to revitalize downtown. It didn't last very long, but was full when it 1st opened. Stayed in a hotel downtown for a few months along the river about 3 years ago. I'd see people walking and biking there but nowhere else downtown. But we'd usually head to campus or the short north for dinner and drinks. I used to live near campus in a place called Clinton township. Back then Campus was not the place to go for dinner and drinks on an expense account and the short north was a war zone. Things change. -

While true OSU is relatively close to downtown. When I lived out in the suburbs they were both in that general direction and considered close enough. Not to mention that OSU is so big and has so many students that it could most likely be a city by itself. In the last 10-15 years they have expanded quite a bit. It used to be when you thought OSU you thought High Street. When I go back and visit now it's truly amazing how they have added so much to the north side. Not sure if the distance from downtown to High street area of OSU but it can't be more that 5-6 miles from the Nationwide buildings? .
