Also, as I recall , our replacement outside linebackers seemed to be pretty poor at holding the edge against running backs compared to the hobbled lb that you seem to hate a lot. Weren't there lots of runs for huge gains by running backs being able to bounce to the outside after seeing nothing between the tackles. Were there a lot of big runs during the games that Merriman played?

This is approaching a troll like post. The Rams have a lot of holes to fill on both sides of the ball I believe? Bringing in name coaches won't magically fix things. They need to draft well and make pickups in FA just like we do.

Players like Whitner, McCargo, and even Maybin are busts more as a result of the overreaching of the Bills during the first round of draft rather than coaching.... Poz was a second rounder same as Troup? Can't really call them busts

But really I don't think he ever showed any good pocket presence or ability to read opposing defenses. So how would he have fit in under one of Gailey's schemes where a QB seems to at least be required to make a quick read / decision and then get rid of the ball? JP had the physical tools. But then the NFL has seen lots of strong armed athletic QBs who never made it.
