  1. I'm watching this game right now courtesy of Sunday Ticket. A couple of thoughts: 1.) Frank Gore is a beast. Lynch is an imposter compared to Gore. He just slashed through the Titans defense for a touchdown. He's faster than Lynch, and does not do all of the juking and jiving that Lynch likes to do. He makes a decision, and goes. 2.) It looks like Smith might be starting to show some reasons why he was drafted in the first round as a QB. He just hit Vernon Davis on like a 40-50 yard bullet. 3.) Singletary oozes football. What an amazing coach. He has changed the culture in San Fran and is starting to rebuild some of that old grind and toughness that he played with when manning the middle of the Bears defense for so many years. The 49'ers are starting to look like they did back when Owens, and Garcia last played for them. Always loved the 9'ers 80's colors, too. I'd be a 49'ers fan if the Bills did not exist or ever moved. Now, the 49'ers are clearly not as good as they used to be under Montana and Young, but they are rebounding. All within a decade. What is the Bills problem?
  2. Though there are many theories on this board as to why he ultimately was allowed to leave, the consensus is that the "brain trust" at OBD did not feel that he fit their plans anymore. Now, apparently those plans have made themselves evident. Namely, to run a no-nonsense, pushover against the run, constantly injured, undersized defense. Fletcher did not fit that plan, so he was allowed to leave via free agency to the 'Skins. Living where I do in DC, he has been perhaps their sole bright spot for quite some time. Fletcher, Pat Williams, and Antoine Winfield should never have been allowed to leave the Bills. They were veteran cornerstones with which to build around. It saddens me to think of a linebacking corp with Fletcher in the middle, and Mitchell and Poz on the outsides. Williams and Stroud at the tackle positions...
  3. There are too many hands in the proverbial cookie jar at OBD. The issue is that GM-by-committee does not work. Never has. Ralph is having some Al Davis moments these days, and is scared of crapping his depends by loosening his grip some and allowing a true, proven, NFL-worthy GM to run the team. GM-by-committee will keep this franchise at the bottom.
  4. I will take those, and 1 up you! Nobody, and I mean No ONE, will tackle Marshawn!
  5. Oop, now you've gone and done it. Those dubious members of Peters Nation that like to parade around here bemoaning all of the Bills plights on trading away the constantly contract squabbling Peters are not going to be happy. (But I completely agree by the way).
  6. ahahahahahahahahaa! I just about pi$$ed myself reading Ralph sneaks in the regulars since no one knows their names outside of Buffalo!
  7. Hasek. Now, can we please talk about football on the Bills site again?
  8. This is obviously because Jaworski has proven himself to be a GM in the NFL before....
  9. I would not be paying out the wazoo for DirecTV Sunday Ticket if not for the Bills. Where I live, with the exception of London Fletcher, the Redskins are not watchable. I can't stand the Ravens. I always loved the 49'ers, but if no Bills, I would probably not follow football too much. Certainly not enough to pay for it. With that being said, if the Bills don't get rid of BOTH Jauron and hire a real, proven football man at GM (and fire Modrak and Guy), I probably won't be renewing my Sunday Ticket next year.
  10. Yeah, I'm not too sure about this one. On the one hand, he constantly fielded pretty competitive teams with the Jets- but also took over for Parcells, didn't he? On the other hand, he stunk in Kansas City- but I feel that he got tossed because Pioli was coming onboard and wanted his own man. Edwards was never given a true chance to build KC. I would put him at the bottom of the list, if we couldn't get Holmgren, Gruden, Shanahan, or Shottenheimer. And as much as I like Gruden, I am starting to think that perhaps Schottenheimer and 'Marty-ball' might be the best thing for a cold weather club such as Buffalo and with Trentative at QB.
  11. McGee, Schobel, Stroud, Evans, Wood, Moorman, and Bryd.
  12. Ye of short memories. You can't remember how immobile Bledsoe was? How he always seemed to never be good enough to win a game, but could always find a way to LOSE a game (Bruschi sack and subsequent fumble by Bledsoe while driving for winning score against the hated Pats)? And let's not forget about his colossal hold time and tendency to STARE down his receiver before deciding to think about possibly throwing the ball. Drew had awesome arm strength. His accuracy was not too bad. But his extreme immobility and holding onto the ball sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long was really what helped the Bills to lose games. Well, that and his timely turnovers. Especially against the Patriots. Oh, and the Bills 'D' was somewhere in the top 5 category most of the years Bledsoe was in Buffalo, if I recall. That, and having the best punter in the league.
  13. Hey- I thought the irony was funny!
  14. That is really something. I can remember the players in Chicago being absolutely grief-stricken when Jauron was fired, too. He is a "players-coach", after all. I think for Christmas, I'm going to ask Ralph for a "fans-coach", or a "super bowl-coach".
  15. As soon as the Bills announce Russ' firing/ moving back to the business side of things and a real GM is brought in.
  16. Correction: Let the new GM bring in his own staff.
  17. I don't understand this post. How is Jauron going to "ruin" Byrd?
  18. Hindsight being 20/20, I don't believe that it has anything to do with Flutie. Rather, I would perhaps more correctly label it the AJ Smith/ John Butler/ Buddy Nix Curse. That was when the talent train left Buffalo for warmer destinations.
  19. considering the fact that Larry Johnson is like 10 years older than Marshawn (I exaggerate, but its not that far off), I think we should keep Marshawn. Now, I can see Larry Johnson going to those hated Patriots.
  20. Dude, I'm tired of experiments. This is the year where the also appears to be a log jam of proven head coaches available and GM's that have all done it before. I'm sick of giving someone 5 years IN THE HOPE that they build something. You are taking more of a risk and gambling away opportunity and success by taking an unproven. Heck, for the past decade that is all that we have had. And you want more? You're probably one of those people responsible for a 20% approval rating of Congress, yet keeps voting the same idiots to office expecting a different result. Josh Daniels is the exception the rule. Certainly, the Mangenius is not looking so good, huh? Gregg Williams? Mularkey? Some are suited to be a head coach, and some are not. Some are amazing coordinators who should never so much as sniff the cleats of a head coach. I for one, am sick and tired of experimenting with unproven "hot" coordinators or "hot" personnel men never to have done the job before.
  21. please stop with this Brady Quinn mumbo jumbo. It is senseless, useless, and NOT an improvement over our current situation. The Bills should not make ANY personnel moves until Modrak, Guy, and Jauron are long gone and the scouting staff has been gutted, AND a real football GM is in place.
  22. I read this, and completely disagree. I will also disagree with anyone who thinks we should hire some unproven coordinator as our next head coach. I think the time for hiring project GM's is over. I want someone who has proven themselves capable, built a winner, and are ready to do it again. Same thing with coaches. I could care less how successful Mularkey is in Atlanta. He sucked in Buffalo, was kicked out of Miami, and just found his ideal situation. Gregg Williams is the same deal. Successful defensive coordinator. Sucked as a head coach. To the point that the Redskins wouldn't even seriously consider him as a replacement to Gibbs. The time has come, and the time is right...to secure someone of stature who knows what they are doing. I'm tired of experiments and hopes. Give me Floyd Reese or Ron Wolf or Bruce Allen at GM. Give me Holmgren, Gruden, Shottenheimer, or Fisher at head coach.
  23. Failing to see how terrible they were? Are you serious? From 2000-2005, the Bills drafted all of 50 players. 6, SIX are still with the team today. That's not a "crap shoot", dude. That is a 12% ratio of success. 12 freakin' percent!!! And before you get all high falootin' and start spewing free agency garbage...if you don't keep the players that you drafted, that's not the market. The Patriots do it. The Steelers find a way to keep it together. So do the Colts. What is so unique about those clubs? Bottom line: the Bills have had horrible drafts this decade, allow key free agents to walk (Williams, Winfield, Fletcher, Peters), and then sign stop-gap measures that they reach and overpay for (Royal, Walker, Tripplett, Dockery- who all, coincidentally, are ALSO no longer with the team). This team has no plan as GM-by-committee has never worked, will never work, and until good 'ol Ralphie gets past his fear of having a football man in charge of the football team this kind of garbage will continue. Don't even try to support this decade of ineptitude!
  24. actually, since we can also include the front office itself... I would like to amend my Mike Williams entry. I would like to say that keeping Modrak and Guy after having fired Donahoe is perhaps the worst move this franchise has made in the past decade.
  25. Lets see, so many things...trading our #1 to the Pats for Bledsoe, allowing Pat Williams, London Fletcher, and Antoine Winfield walk, trading and ultimately spending two #1 picks to select JP Losman, moving up to draft McCargo with a #1 pick, not paying Jason Peters like a Pro Bowl LT to avoid his frustrating hold outs, overpaying for Kelsay, Parrish, but the biggest would have to be: drafting Mike Williams.
