  1. I think the weakness was a D Coordinator that the game had passed by several years ago, but point taken...hence 2 possible draft picks and 2 free agents tha were suggested
  2. First off, let me say that I am no "expert." I love this game and I love this team and I like to entertain myself with what I think is good for them. A lot of you are gonna torch me, some may agree...but hey, If I was an "expert," I'd be employed by the NFL, not the government. I've been around the game, both as a player and coach, for a long time and it's #6 on my most loved things in this world...right after wife, kids, family and friends. First, lets continue the purge and, free up some cap space and dump: 1.) Chris Kelsay. He's past his prime...which wasn't all pro to begin with, and his contract doesn't fit his performance...it never has. 2.) Terrance McGee. Ditto on Kelsay, accept he played at a much higher level...in his prime. But he's been bitten by the injury bug and I don't think he's got anything left to offer. 3.) Spencer Johnson. I always liked Spencer, it's simply time to move on (youth movement). *Key UFA's: Corey McEntyre; Leodis Mckelvin: Shawn Merriman: Chad Rhinehart Next, restructure and sign our UFA's and tender Nelson. 1.) Levitre and Byrd are tied for #1. We absolutely need to resign both of these guys. 2.) Restructure Fitz's contract. Although they made the right move, imho, to extend him, his play didn't come close to the $ he got. 3.) Tender David Nelson. I think it's around $1.3M, which I believe is a bit of a bargain judging by his potential. Draft, not going into details...just who I like. Rd 1: Cordarelle Patterson; WR -Tenn. @ 6'3" and 205lbs. gives us the big man outside that can run (40 time @ 4.46) Rd 2: Manti Te'O; MLB - ND...I know, I know...but, prior to his pseudo "scandal" this kid was a top 5 talent. If he does fall, he may not make it past the Ravens @ 32. Rd 3: Landry Jones; QB - OK. Strong arm, big kid with a thick frame and very coachable. Not the prototypical "cowboy" attitude you want in a QB, but I wouldn't mistake his humbleness as a weakness. He's strong in his faith and plays like an Irishman (with God's grace upon his shoulders, for those that didn't follow). Rd 4: Dion Sims; TE - MI State. HUGE guy @ 6'5", 285...very light on his feet, agile, and tough to bring down. Limited playing time (injury and a bit of trouble) let's him slide under the radar. Rd 5: Kwame Geathers; DT - Georgia. Another monster with deep NFL bloodlines. @ 6'5" and 355 lbs. he gives us a legit NT for a highbred D. Rd 6: Steve Williams; CB - Cal. Doesn't go along with the trend of bigger CB's, but this kid is tenacious...and fast. Rd 7: Dustin Hopkins; K - Fl. St. Yes, a kicker! Lindell is out Moorman style and I've had enough with carrying 4 guys that are used strictly for kicking. Kids got a huge leg. The thing that stood out to me is the fact that he, in his first college game and against a rival (Miami) he nails his very first attempt of his NCAA career...52 yards. I know it's only one kick, but damn...I'd say that's a big kick in a big game. Free Agents to entertain/track QB - Jason Campbell...if for nothing else, he's a viable emergency clip board holder WR - Brian Hartline...if Miami drops the ball and doesn't resign him...also, he won't demand a huge pay day TE - Dustin Keller...Great athlete, and a weapon in the passing game. DT - Jason Jones...Very good situational interior pass rusher...good for the rotation. Coming off a 1 year "prove I'm worth it" contract that was hindered by an injury. May be a good bargain. OLB - Paul Krueger...remains to be seen if he's a system type guy, or if he's legit. He did, however, look like he got shot out of a cannon on the sack in the SB. SS - Laron Landry...Big hitter, much more than an "in the box" type safety. He and Byrd would tear sh*t up.
  3. Sounds like Landry Jones, imho http://www.nfldraftscout.com/members/ratings/profile.php?pyid=83266
  4. I don't care who own da Chiefs. I hate it here! It makes me sick, puke..blah, like dat, puke!
  5. Even my wife, who is a Beyonce fan, thought that was terrible. Seriously, Beyonce and football...Alicia Keys and football...Jennifer Hudson and football...they just don't mix. I get that the NFL is attempting to appeal to a different demographic to boost ratings, but c'mon mannnnn!
  6. Youth movement...staff, and players alike. Tuf call on Fitz. I'd like to see them attempt to restructure his deal to get it back down to earth and bring in some healthy competition. He'd be a very good back up, imho. If he's not willing to negotiate a new deal, then bye bye. Kelsay is a no brainer, numbers wise. He's at the very tail end of a mediocre career and has been plagued with injuries the last 2 seasons. I don't even see them tryiong to restructure his contract, vet presence or not. Same goes for McGee... I really like Wilson, on and off the field...but, the last regime was phasing him out so, who knows. Smith's versatility will be very attractive to the new staff. Typical of this organization, he was not properly utilized, hence the call for his head by many here. I think they dropped the ball and let his replacement, Delano Howell, walk. He got picked up by Indi and will be a name I'll be watching for.
  7. Never seen a QB do a baseball style take out slide before, but you have to consider the defensmen on that to be "defenseless" at it is completely unexpected and Reed looked as if he was going to jump over him to avoid contact. That kind of action could have caused serious injury...imagine if Reeds leg was planted.
  8. He took a couple shots yesterday that I've seen get called previously...and I liked it. Not sure how much weight it'll carry into next season , given that it's the playoffs. But, just sayn'
  9. Astro...what's your take on Landry Jones?
  10. Check the vid...@ about the 4:15 mark he throws an absolute bullet...off his back foot...while getting hit. Weak arms can not make that throw.
  11. Whoa there home skillet...Megatron is a threat no matter where you put him or on what team...the guy isn't just a one trick pony...he makes plays/catches all over the field and is virtually unstopable. The guy hasn't had a game with less thean 118ish yards receiving in, what, like 9 or 10 weeks?
  12. First thought was to berate you for the utter ignorance to the game of football displayed by this quote...but, the contadiction of the last sentence almost makes me think you kinda get it...By no means am I defending anyone on the coaching staff of this team, because, as we all know, the majority of the play calling has been horrendous...but, the kind of mentality required to keep running the ball, running it again and then running it again is High School brother. Personally, I prefer the run game...as we all do, I'm sure. And as I said, run, run, run is a mentality...one that I share, at that...and that's why I don't coach, work, or have any association with the NFL. So, having spewed a bunch of crap, my point is that I understand why the coach hasn't kept and/or utilized this "blueprint" week in and week out.
  13. Every other starting QB in the NFL accept Gabbert, Skelton, Tennehill, Weeden, Cutler (he'd throw a Pic6), Romo, Rivers & Stafford...OK, so 23. *Romo blows, Rivers swallows and chokes and Stafford McWierdface can't throw a TD even with the best WR in the game.
  14. No? Really, you can't? Do tell? Of course I'm going to talk about the INT because it happened when it happened. Absolutely no reason to throw that ball. Now, lets talk about the last "drive." We get the ball back with 1:03 on the clock and 2 timeouts, down 1 point. We need 45-50 yards to get into FG range. 1st play is a 6 yard pass that takes 20 seconds? Are you kidding me? Then a 2 yard dump & a TO. This followed by two incompletions, one on 4th down where fitz was pressured a bit and doesn't come close to a WR. Game over. I could name, at least, 25 guys I would rather have had in there. A winner gets it done. Too bad we don't have a winner at the most important position in this game. That situation is what QB's live for!
  15. Not making excuses for the guy...at all, as I believe he's done nothing to get the benefit of anyone's doubt, but I do know the LDE position (played it for many years at ahigh level). the "injury" he says he has is detrimental to the performance of a LDE. It's his "punch" hand, his leverage hand...every pass rush move is predicated on that hand. that being said, benching him makes sense...at least until he's healthy, right? He's a $100M investment, you don't run the guy out of town, you find a way to make him effective, give him the chance to get healthy. The guy is a tremendous player and he'll get back in the swing. It's unfortunate that anyone is pointing fingers at the players. Our coaching staff has no balls and too much pride...bottom line.
  16. In all seriousness, I think this team needs to make a strong play for Bowe. SJ13, D-Bo and an emerging TJ Graham would be the best, potential, WR trio this team has had...maybe ever. Add Chandler and that gives us a bunch of weapons. Now, if only QB wasn't the most important position, SMH!
  17. True, but I think this particular instance is a one off, an acception to the rule if you will. The basis, in Fitz's case, well the Bills' rather, it's a lack of commitment to the run. How many times do you see the bills empty out the backfield on 3 & 1, or first down for that matter. With the talent in our backfield, we should be running the ball, and running it again, and again until it fails. I'd rather see a 3 and out trying to pound it rather than emptying the backfield on 3rd & short and chucking it down the sideline...which is normally overthrown or intercepted.
  18. Arizona has the 31st ranked rushing O and they are down to their 3rd RB, Stephens Howling. That being said, I'm picking him up on my fantasy team this week.
  19. Still on the fence with Chan...aside from a few questionable calls (every coach has them) seems to me that the main problem with the offense is poor QB play and execution. Not making excuses for him, but giving him the benefit of the doubt as he, and Nix, have been more up front than any other coach we've seen regarding admitting mistakes...time will tell, but because of the rather large investment into Fitz, I don't think they'll own up to this one.
  20. Here's a link to an article, ending with a quote that makes me think that Gailey is going to sink this ship! The "captain" is scared folks, and he's refuing to believe what's right in front of his very eyes. "Not an option." What about Fitz mentally? Gailey again said Tarvaris Jackson is not an option because there’s no time to get him reps. Gailey said, “I don’t think it’s an issue, but I’m going to talk to him about it and we’re going to visit about it because I don’t want him to lose his confidence. You always worry about guys that are in critical positions. I just want to make sure that he’s fine.” FWIW, I was not a Fitz basher...heck, I even gave him the benefit of doubt...he's a gun slinger, when he gets behind he'll force some throws and he'll get picked here and there. Not any more! I have seen, through two games now, 6 passes that most other QB's complete for TDs. He's is no good and he's the #2 problem on this team, right behind Wanny, IMHO (you can flip flop these 2, but they are #1 & #2, no matter how you rank them). Call it fear, or ignorance, but this shows you he can't even see that Fitz is, simply, not a very good QB. I don't care what the #'s say. He doesn't want him to lose confidence? What has he done to earn anyone's trust or confidence in him? Are you telling me that you actually think this guy has any confidence at all, at this point? My point is that you make a trade for a guy...say he's been on your radar since you came here and now, he's not even an option because why? WTF is practice for other than to get guys reps? Swallow your pride, admit Fitz IS NOT the guy, realize that Thigpen is no better, and give the kid a shot...give him a shot to prove that he's truly NOT an option, at the very least. AND IT'S NOT TOO EARLY TO FEEL THIS WAY!!! THE SLIDE STARTED 13 GAMES AGO! Flame on...
  21. This is a talented team with real depth...Haven't been able to say that for several years. As we've seen, player performance is key to holding onto your Job, ie. Edwards, Moorman, Merriman, et al! How about the same accountability for the coaches? Sorry, but I truly believe that the game, at the NFL level, has passed Wanny by. It's evident in his lack of making any adjustments in key matchups (Jets & Pats). Sanchez is not a good QB. He's worse when you put pressure on him & from what I recall, there was none when they tried to get to him only rushing 4. Brady, on the other hand, is a great QB, love him or hate him. However, the key to beating the Pats is to get to him...and again, rushing 4 DID NOT WORK. The great defenses in this league live and die by the blitz and this defense completely avoids it. Now, I'm not saying some of the woes don't rest on the shoulders of our $100M players, but scheme and game planning can make all the difference. The Pats' patchwork OL, without Mankins, is NOT GOOD, et they looked like a bunch of perennial pro bowlers...who wouldn't when you have basic assignments all game long? There was absolutely nothing thrown at them to keep them guessing and potentially make big mistakes. Same goes of the Jets, albeit their OL is better. Against Cleveland and KC, although not elite in the OL department, we blitzed, got to the QB, forced errors and got a ton of pressure. Respecting the ability of your opponents is one thing, but looking like your absolutely afraid of them is is detrimental...obviously. My point, although not popular, is that the coaching is the problem here folks. Forget about talent, it's there! You can have all the talent in the world, but that doesn't mean squat when your coach is out of league and completely outclassed. Wanny needs to show something real soon to thwart a call of his head on a platter. regardless of any feelings of making in season coaching changes. Flame away!
