  1. Manning is expected to have surgery, miss “significant time” With rampant rumors and reports regarding the status of quarterback Peyton Manning, a source with knowledge of the situation tells us that Manning could have neck surgery as soon today, and that he will miss “significant time” as he recovers. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/09/08/manning-is-expected-to-have-surgery-miss-significant-time/
  2. The news about Peyton Manning’s injury is going to get worse before it gets better. The latest from Colts information director/owner Jim Irsay, via Twitter: “NFL Season opens 2nite!We had a good practice yesterday and r guys r fired up 4 the season.#18′s out for awhile, but compete,we will/BELIEVE,” Irsay wrote. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/09/08/colts-owner-peyton-manning-will-be-out-awhile/
  3. This roster is a crumbling monument to neglect and bad personnel moves. A decade of weak drafts and frugal ownership has left the Bills with a roster that’s sorely lacking in established players in their professional primes. The Bills have very little to show for their drafts in the mid-2000s. Lee Evans was the last of the ’04 class to go (George Wilson was undrafted). Roscoe Parrish is the only player left from ’05, Kyle Williams the last man standing from ’06. The entire ’07 draft class has departed. It’s close to a lost generation of young talent. Four position players on this roster have started 30 games in a Buffalo uniform. Kelsay has stared 104, McGee 84, Williams 73. Then it drops down to that grizzled old vet, Andy Levitre, with 32. People talk about the Bills rebuilding. You can’t rebuild something that wasn’t constructed in the first place. http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/bills-nfl/article548934.ece
  4. the bills will be picking a franchise QB or LT.......but i agree Blackmon looks special.....saw a mock draft that had him rated the 2nd best WR in next years draft to Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina (never heard of em).
  5. The biggest winners are high-revenue team owners who will see their revenue sharing payments to their low-revenue rivals drop. In part this explains why the value of the top 10 teams rose 4% on average. There is a growing divide between the rich and poor NFL franchises (poor being a relative term as all 32 teams rank among the 50 most valuable sports teams in the world). Supplemental revenue sharing payments to low revenue teams under the old CBA were expected to rise to $220 million with high rolling teams like the Cowboys, Washington Redskins (No. 2, worth $1.55 billion) and New England Patriots (No. 3, worth $1.4 billion) supplying much of the welfare and on the hook for more than $10 million apiece. Under the new CBA, the amount any big market teams will have to kick into the system is capped at $3.5 million. Low revenue teams will receive only $50 million to $100 million collectively in the early years of the deal according to NFL estimates. Leaguewide revenues are expected to increase to the point where supplemental revenue sharing almost disappears by the end of the new 10-year CBA. The new CBA hurts teams at the bottom of the financial pyramid as well because beginning in 2013, teams must spend 89% of the salary cap in cash or be subject to penalties. Keeping a lid on player costs allowed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to be football’s fourth most profitable teams over the past five years. The Bucs’ player costs were $35 million lower than any other team during that time and $150 million less than the Cowboys. The Chiefs, Bills and Bengals have also kept spending in check fattening up the bottom line. That is not an option anymore. While the value of the top teams is up, the bottom 10 stayed flat on average. http://www.forbes.com/sites/kurtbadenhausen/2011/09/07/the-nfls-most-valuable-teams/
  6. i wonder if he hyperextended his left knee by resorting to his old habit of bending it to gain leverage trying to push Jasper out of the way ??..... someone in another thread said Troup was Horrible....but he looked pretty good against detroits backups....(sarcasm).
  7. Now, another Indianapolis radio host is upping the ante. Jake Query of WNDE, citing two unnamed sources whom he trusts, reports that Manning already has had another procedure on his neck, and that he’ll miss the entire 2011 season. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/09/07/indy-radio-host-says-manning-will-miss-entire-season/
  8. any owner who wanted to maximize revenue ??.....For the record, Forbes reported the team's total operating income at $28.2 million in 2010. Broken down, that's about $4 million per game, as opposed to about $12.5 million per Toronto regular season game.
  9. but i do see the next agreement being 2 regular season home games in Toronto (with or without an 18 game schedule)and for 10 years in length.
  10. Bill Polian : "He is going to be back at some point" http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d821f7155/article/manning-held-out-of-practice-with-back-pain-status-in-doubt?module=HP11_headline_stack
  11. The Colts have taken a dramatically different course, announcing on Monday that Manning won’t practice this week, and that he likely will be listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/09/05/colts-say-manning-is-doubtful-for-sunday/
  12. some Irsay tweets: 1. Weather forecast ever changing...ominous storm clouds gathering...it never rains under my umbrella.... 2. There was the Rams-K Warner Sup year./ There was Patriot 2001-Brady Sup.year.--- Every year. is interesting n unpredictable in NFL!!!! (Irsay translator: Both of those years began with quarterback injuries). 3. This ain't a dream no more...it's the real thing..give me a second, let me get it 2gether, just got 2 pick myself up off the floor 4. Got 2 code the darkness...prepare u 4 an alternative journey 5. No quarter?NONE ASKED!We made a promise,we swore we'd always remember,no retreat,no surrender;like soldiers in a winter's nite,a vow 2defend 6. Stampedblue and Jon Bauges/random or silly tweets, they r not..ur not hearing what I'm saying..riddle n codes r done4a reason, but it's there (Irsay translator: He’s telling some Colts bloggers that his series of downer tweets aren’t just a goof. He’s also saying that mean Mr. Polian doesn’t like too much information out there.) 7. It's BETWEEN the lines, you will find...what you can only find here 8. “Excuse me, sir, I think this will be our finest hour.” (Irsay Translator: Calling upon Apollo 13 motivation about when things look darkest). 9. “I’m trying2prepare 12th Man as best I can,BUCK UP..if I’ve told u twice- The only thing the pity pot produces is a red ring around ur ass!”
  13. Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning is being re-evaluated by several doctors because of the slow progress in his rehab from offseason neck surgery, according to sources familiar with his medical condition. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/6931858/peyton-manning-neck-being-re-evaluated-doctors-sources-say
  14. Radio host John Michael Vincent of ESPN 1070 in Indianapolis says via Twitter, citing multiple unnamed sources, that Manning needs another procedure on his neck, and that Manning is out indefinitely. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/09/04/indy-radio-host-says-peyton-needs-another-neck-procedure/ EDIT: Now, another Indianapolis radio host is upping the ante. 15. ByTimGrahamTim Graham @ RT @nzonsports Kamar Aiken, WR Bills, Released 27 sec (darn...was hoping he stayed)
  16. i'm laffin....troup had 1 solo tackle and one assisted tackle against detroit's 2nd & 3rd stringers.....and this was by far his best game, which is not saying much. i said McCargo wouldn't make it in this league and he hung around for 5 years. So Troup is safe for awhile. he is listed as our #2 NT on the depth chart and it will stay that way, otherwise buddy has to admit he made a mistake. Troup won't see much action anyways except on special teams. but when he does come in on defense (less than 10 plays a game) just watch him get manhandled. i know i'll be watching.
  17. be happy it's not steve tasker and ray bentley.
  18. i like Fitz, the job he's done coming in midseason the last two years is remarkable. i myself think he's about the 20th best QB in the nfl, not the recent 27th ranking espn gave him. having said that, if we have a shot at a franchise QB next year, i think we should grab him. Jamarcus Russell is worse than horrible, he is a complete bust. Troup is in no jeopardy of getting cut, no way buddy admits he made a mistake this early.....i mean look how long McCargo held on. i'm just sayin, i think Troup is horrible and very unlikely to get better.
  19. BUBBLE 1. Troup, Torell NT 6-3 32623 2 Central Florida 97 2. Moats, Arthur LB 6-2 24923 2 James Madison 54 3. Coleman, Antonio LB 6-1 25425 2 Auburn 60 4. Heard, Kellen DT 6-6 34625 1 Memphis 73 i don't think Troup is in any jeopardy of not making this team, even tho i'm dogging him in another thread. no way does nix admit this early he made a mistake with his first 2nd round pick. sticking with some lesser names...... i like DT Heard alot, hope he sticks. i like the WR Aiken alot, hope he sticks.
  20. that was a mental error by Hairston.....which can be fixed much easier that a lack of physical talent.....on run plays Hairston got good push....as far as biased goes....i am absolutely convinced that Troup is not going to make it in this league...it was obvious to me last year and it is obvious to me based on two home games this year. could he prove me wrong, of course, but i doubt it. as far as Hairston goes, i thought he looked good, first time i ever watched him, i think his future looks bright.
  21. isolating on one player is what i like to do at games. i'm a +25 year season ticket holder. when the play is over , i look at the jumbotron for a replay of the big picture. i always DVR the game and watch it later for the normal perspective. as far as looking at other players, on defense NO, it's just too hard trying to follow more than one player per play, but on offense i watched the LT Hairston the whole game, he did not start (Bell did) but got in the game very early and looked really good. his future looks bright.
  22. what am i gonna say to the media now ?
