  2. With just over 11 minutes left in the first quarter, Miller was lined up on the defensive left, standing up. At the snap, he charged upfield for what was clearly a pass play. But the Chargers, knowing Miller would come up the field hard, didn't keep running back Mike Tolbert in to block. Instead, Tolbert sneaked out of the backfield just inside of Miller. Miller clearly saw Tolbert run by him, and he turned to chase the running back. But by then it was too late. Philip Rivers hit Tolbert for a 17-yard gain that also featured three missed tackles. Later in the quarter, Miller was on the defensive right, standing up just outside the right shoulder of defensive end Jason Hunter. It was a first-and-10 play, a more likely run down and the Broncos were in a run-defense look. At the snap Miller charged upfield and tight end Randy McMichael simply kept pushing Miller, riding Miller out of the play. At one point Miller is deeper in the backfield than quarterback Philip Rivers, who handed the ball to Ryan Mathews. Mathews then ran into the big gap left behind for a 36-yard gain. 3. Toone was the 255th and final selection of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions, thus earning the moniker Mr. Irrelevant.[1] On September 4, 2010, Toone was one of the final cuts as Detroit reduced its roster to the 53-man limit. However, the Lions re-signed Toone to their practice squad the next day.[2] Toone was placed on the practice squad's injured reserve due to an undisclosed injury on October 7, 2010.[3] He was re-signed to a future contract on January 5, 2011. Toone was waived during final cuts on September 3, and re-signed to the Lions' practice squad on September 21. The Lions released Toone again on September 27, 2011. 7. Starting nose tackle Kyle Williams came out of the game in the third quarter against the Eagles, also with an ankle injury. It's a problem that Williams said he's been dealing with for some time now. Gailey said they would take a cautious approach and see where their star defensive lineman is at every day of practice this week. When asked if holding Williams out of this weekend's game with the bye week looming is something the Bills would consider, Gailey did not rule out that school of thought. At this point, Williams is questionable to play against the New York Giants. That also puts the focus on the progress of Torell Troup's lower back injury. The head coach said that Troup is not 100-percent either, and that they'll have to try and see which one of him and Williams will be most ready to play this week. If neither can go, the Bills could either go with third string nose tackle Kellen Heard in his place, or to move rookie Marcell Dareus inside for the time being. http://wgr550.com/Bills--Jones-Out-4-6--NT-Williams-Questionable/11146205
  8. When former Packers linebacker Nick Barnett took a Michael Vick interception back for a touchdown, he pulled the Western New York equivalent of a Lambeau Leap (a.k.a. The Buffalo Bound ). About 10 seconds into his crowd dive, Barnett looked like he wanted to get down and had to swat away the hands of adoring fans. 13. Hank Williams Jr. wrote a new song about Fox News and ESPN.... Are you ready for some vengeance, vapid lyricism and strained rhyming patterns? Hank Williams Jr. is releasing a new song entitled "I'll Keep My ...," in which he calls out ESPN and Fox News after his remarks about President Barack Obama and Adolf Hitler on "Fox and Friends" led to his dismissal from the "Monday Night Football" theme song after 23 years. The country music singer wrote the song on Friday and is scheduled to release it late Monday or early Tuesday. In its third verse, he takes issue with how Fox took his words out of context: "So Fox 'n Friends wanna put me down/Ask for my opinion/Twist it all around." http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Hank-Williams-Jr-wrote-a-new-song-about-Fox-New?urn=nfl-wp9130

  21. By Associated Press, Published: October 6 ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Buffalo Bills reserve defensive lineman Torell Troup has missed practice due to a nagging back injury, which leaves his status uncertain for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Coach Chan Gailey says the back pain will make it difficult for Troup to play this weekend, when Buffalo (3-1) hosts Philadelphia (1-3). http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/redskins/bills-dl-torell-troup-sidelined-by-nagging-back-injury-unlikely-to-play-against-eagles/2011/10/06/gIQAtcbqQL_story.html

  24. "All that sounds good, but at the end of the day, Favre is a player-hater," said Harrison, a hard-hitting safety who spent 15 seasons in the NFL with the San Diego Chargers and New England Patriots. "He's completely jealous of Rodgers. Those fans in Green Bay treated Favre right. The media treated Favre right. He has no reason at all to be such a bitter, old man. "Embrace this young man, compliment him. That's what he deserves. I can see if Rodgers was a jerk. He's not. He's a class act. He's a humble individual. We need more guys like this representing our league on a day-in, day-out basis." Whew. Harrison dropped a "player-hater" on Favre. As far as Harrison is concerned, Favre has to sleep in the same bed he made. "Let's not forget about Favre. He left because he wanted that," Harrison said. "He went to Minnesota, within that division. He wanted that. He went to the Jets. He's a guy who always wanted the attention, he's a selfish guy. That's Favre's nature. We understand that, we know that." Harrison said Favre's former Jets teammates referred to the quarterback as a "prima donna" who had his own set of rules and didn't associate with the rest of the team. Harrison then left some words of wisdom for Rodgers. "Let's not get it twisted about Favre," Harrison added. "He's jealous, he's a player-hater. Rodgers, keep doing your thing, don't let this guy get under your skin." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d822eabb3/article/harrison-favre-doesnt-have-a-reason-to-hate-on-rodgers?module=HP11_headline_stack
