Albert Haynesworth Released by Patriots
papazoid replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
it's about saving money.... When Haynesworth joined the Patriots, he took a pay cut in base salary from $5.4 million to $1.5 million. He had the chance to make that money back in playing time incentives. He won’t make any of the money back now. Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports reported in August that Haynesworth would have received a $1 million bonus if he played in 20% of the team’s snaps for the year. Almost $3 million more was available if he reached playing time incentives beyond that. None of that money should be paid to Haynesworth. Using snap counts from ESPNBoston.com’s Mike Reiss, Haynesworth has played roughly 30% of the team’s snaps during the first nine games. Cutting Haynesworth now should allow the Patriots to avoid any further payment because that percentage should dip below 20% by year’s end. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/11/08/patriots-avoid-big-bonus-money-by-cutting-haynesworth-now/ -

Maybin- 3 page NY Daily News Article
papazoid replied to dloroch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Aaron Maybin: Rex Ryan saw something that Bills’ coaches didn’t: When you get between five and seven plays a game, that’s not really an opportunity,” Maybin told Sean Jensen for Yahoo Sports. “There was something the Bills’ coaching staff didn’t see that Rex Ryan and that coaching staff did. Whatever it is, I can’t tell you or put my finger on it. I can sit here and try to focus on why that is. But it doesn’t matter anymore.” http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/11/05/aaron-maybin-rex-ryan-saw-something-that-bills-coaches-didnt/ -
couple of tidbits... Jets sign 2nd former Bill Posted by Chris Brown on October 31, 2011 – 9:59 am The New York Jets are at it again signing another former Bills player. Already with Aaron Maybin on the roster , Jets signed TE Shawn Nelson according to a NY Daily News report. http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2011/10/31/jets-sign-2nd-former-bill/ Mark Brunell, 41, is in his second year as the veteran backup for starter Mark Sanchez, and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization on June 25, 2010. He has played in three Pro Bowls, owns a Super Bowl ring and earned upwards of $50 million in salary playing for the Packers, Jaguars, Redskins, Saints and Jets during a 19-season career. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/ny-jets-quarterback-mark-brunell-faces-huges-debts-article-1.972042

i don't like it....but it's better than Scott "swiss cheese" Chandler.

interesting that not one former player or coach has come to gruden's defense.... i think this could seriously jeopardize his future coaching prospects....

The ultimate issue, Shaun King said, is Gruden’s inability to tell the truth to the grown men who populate an NFL locker room. Specifically, King said Gruden is “inherently dishonest.” “From a relationship level I think Jon failed,” King said, echoing things that folks in Tampa publicly have said about Gruden for years. Specifically, Gruden had a reputation within the walls of the building of saying one thing and doing another. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/11/02/shaun-king-calls-jon-gruden-inherently-dishonest/ "I'm not sure it still exits, but Jon has a major character flaw in that, if he's not the center of attention, that's a problem. It is what it is. Ala the Chucky face. You look at the NFL Films, it's just ironic, anytime that he's mic'd up or filmed, the Chucky Face, you know, it's showcased a lot more than normal." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d823b4bd9/article/king-if-grudens-not-the-center-of-attention-thats-a-problem

A New Domed Bills Stadium in the Falls?
papazoid replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
newly built domed cowboys stadium just cost $1.3 Billion. so you can figure $1.5 Billion for the next domed stadium. spending $100 mil and saving $1.4 Billion sounds like a viable option. having said that, if they ever did build one, they should make a truly multi-purpose facility incorporating an enormous convention center complex and a bills hall of fame museum. -

Give Merriman a Chance Next Summer?
papazoid replied to Dorkington's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
depends on the guaranteed money in his contract.... if it's zero, i would cut him. -
none of this should be surprising... i just hope they cut em before next season. he is damaged goods....sad but true. i started a thread earlier this year entitled "over/under on shawn merriman getting injured" i predicted the first practice.....he limped through preseason injury wise, even though he had moments of brilliance. he got injured early in first regular season game and was never effective after that. bills should cut their losses and move on.
