New England adds 7th Free Agent...
papazoid replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
buddy is asleep....ralph is cheap......etc... March 19, 2012: Bills re-signed WR Derek Hagan. March 15, 2012: ESPN's Adam Schefter reports via his Twitter that Mario Williams will be given a six-year deal from the Bills. He reports that the contract is worth up to $100 million dollars with $50 million guaranteed. March 13, 2012: ProFootballTalk is reporting that DE Mario Williams and WR Robert Meachem will visit the Bills tonight. March 12, 2012: According to Chris Brown of BuffaloBills.com, the Bills have given qualifying tender offers to RFA offensive linemen Chad Rinehart and Kraig Urbik. March 9, 2012: Bills signed LB Kirk Morrison to a two-year, $3 million contract. Another $1 million is available through incentives. March 8, 2012: Bills signed TE Scott Chandler to a two-year deal. No financial terms released as of yet. March 7, 2012: Mark Ludwiczak CBSSports.com is reporting that the Bills have signed wide receiver Ruvell Martin to a one-year contract for $700,000. March 5, 2012: Bills signed WR Steve Johnson to a five-year contract for $36.25 million. The deal includes $19.5 million guaranteed, and will pay Johnson over $24 million from 2012-2014. 1/6/12: Buffalo Bills signed seven future free agent signings. They were: LB Scott McKillop, DT Jay Ross, G Jake Vermiglio, LB Robert Eddins, CB Prince Miller, WR David Clowney and G Keith Williams. 1/30/12: Bills signed LS Garrison Sanborn to a three-year contract extension. 2/7/12: Bills signed K Rian Lindell to a four-year contract extension. 2/22/12: Bills CB Terrence McGee's (patella tendon surgery) "restructured" contract is actually a brand new two-year deal.As opposed to a restructuring, McGee lowered each of his final two base salaries and received a $300,000 signing bonus. His 2012 salary is now $1.35 million, and McGee can make $1.75 million in salary in 2013. Per Scout.com's Aaron Wilson, McGee will earn just over $4 million if he makes the Bills' roster in both seasons. Now being paid like a nickel back, McGee's 2012 salary cap number was lowered from $6.3 million this year to $3.78 million. -
figured it was a slow news day.....other than peyton and tebow..... The New England Patriots on Monday reached agreement with free-agent tight end Daniel Fells on a three-year deal that could be worth up to $7 million, according to a source. The contract includes $2 million in bonuses and guarantees, with a minimum total value of $5.25 million, the source said. It maxes out at $7 million if all incentives are reached. He spent 2008-10 with the Rams before joining the Denver Broncos in 2011. He will be the sixth free agent the team has signed from other clubs, joining Jonathan Fanene (Cincinnati Bengals), Steve Gregory (San Diego Chargers), Trevor Scott (Oakland Raiders), Anthony Gonzalez (Indianapolis Colts) and Brandon Lloyd (St. Louis Rams). http://espn.go.com/boston/nfl/story/_/id/7708463/2012-nfl-free-agency-daniel-fells-expected-sign-new-england-patriots-source-said EDIT: Report: Patriots agree to deal with Robert Gallery http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/19/report-patriots-agree-to-deal-with-robert-gallery/

i think offering him stevie money is perfect..... he was the steelers #1 WR. also.....Buffalo's pursuit of Meachem was an acknowledgment that not only do they need a starting-caliber receiver opposite Stevie Johnson, that receiver also ideally will be able to stretch defenses vertically. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2012/3/14/2870404/robert-meachem-2012-chargers-bills-free-agents

Mike Wallace 40 Yard Dash Time 4.28 (NFL Combine) Michael Floyd (4.42 - 4.52). Justin Blackmon (4.46). Steelers are in cap hell and may not be willing to match any offer above $5 mil. Teams have until April 20 to extend offer sheets to restricted free agents, and nobody is in a rush. Nor should they be. If you make a substantial offer to Wallace, you can wait up to a week before knowing if he's yours. Wide receivers Vincent Jackson and DeSean Jackson this week earned contracts averaging approximately $10 million to $11 million each annually. The Washington Redskins shelled out $21 million in guaranteed money for Pierre Garcon, and Buffalo emptied $19.5 in guaranteed money into the pockets of Stevie Johnson. Wallace is better than everyone on that list except possibly Jackson, so it doesn't take a genius to figure out he should command a high price. But a draft pick, no matter how high, is unproven. Mike Wallace is not. He's an important part of one of the league's most prestigious and successful organizations, and he's what one GM called "a game-changer." So if I'm sitting with a first-round pick somewhere below the 20th choice, I think long and hard about making him mine -- and there are teams down there (New England, San Francisco, Denver and Baltimore) that should do the same. They have money. They have cap room. They have needs. Most important, they have time. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/17842010/wallace-will-get-paid-but-maybe-not-by-steelers-and-not-in-hurry

Larry Holder of CBS Sports reports that the Saints will host defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley for a free agent visit on Sunday. It’s Bunkley’s first known visit since the signing period began last Tuesday. Mike Triplett of the New Orleans Times-Picayune took the time to examine where other outlets had Bunkley rated in the 2012 free agency class. SI’s Peter King had him as the No. 10 overall free agent. CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco rated Bunkley 24th. We had him 53rd. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/17/saints-hosting-bunkley-and-other-free-agent-defensive-tackle-notes/

But Lloyd has made clear since before he became a free agent that New England was where he wanted to go, and if the reports that he signed for $12 million over three years are true, then he took less money to play for the Patriots. That shows how badly he wants to be a Patriot, and how ready he is to get to work in New England. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/18/brandon-lloyd-ready-for-work-in-new-england/

Merriman will quiet his doubters this year
papazoid replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Meanwhile, Gailey was predictably conservative about predicting a return to Pro Bowl form for veteran edge rusher Shawne Merriman, who is recovering from Achilles tendon surgery. “I don’t know,” Gailey said. “I mean, the setback was not good. Now how far does he have to go? I don’t even know how far back he is, and I don’t know how far he has to go. I don’t know where those two ends are. He got hurt again. So now we’re back to square one or below square one maybe.” Gailey said Merriman will get the chance to prove he can come back. “Yeah. The key is for us to get him healthy. Let’s get him healthy and let’s see what he can do.” If he can come back, Merriman will not play outside linebacker in the 4-3 scheme. “I’d rather him not. I think we’d rather him be a right defensive end rushing the passer all the time.” 1/1/2011: Signed a two-year, $10.5 million contract. The deal contains $5 million guaranteed, including a $1.5 million signing bonus, $1 million worth of first-year workout and reporting bonuses, and $3 million of his second-year base salary. Another $8 million is available through incentives, although $1 million is considered "unlikely to be earned." 2012: $4 million, 2013: Free Agent http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3171/shawne-merriman $4,000,000 base salary 2012 500,000 prorated bonus $1,000,000 roster bonus 250,000 workout bonus $5,750,000 cap value 500,000 dead money $5,250,000 cap savings if cut http://www.nyjetscap.com/Bills/bills2012.php -
My case for Michael Floyd
papazoid replied to FavreDolla_Footlong's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
he has everything you want in a WR except game breaking speed (4.42 - 4.47 his combine) which is in the 4.3 range. i saw alot of YAC, great hands and leaping ability.....but not one deep over the top catch. i say Fitz needs more time to throw....therefore i place more of a need at Left Tackle. which come first the chicken or the egg? obviously we may sign a free agent that addresses either WR or LT before the draft. -
