  15. i'm going with another 2 game improvement...(4 in 2010, 6 in 2011) 8 - 8 for 2012 (point of reference: i predicted 5 wins in each of previous two seasons).
  16. San Diego GM A. J. Smith takes shot at Papa Manning.... Eight years ago, the Manning family made a power play aimed directly at the man who holds all of it in San Diego. The Chargers had the first pick in the 2004 draft, G.M. A.J. Smith wanted to take Eli Manning, and Manning family patriarch Archie made it clear that Eli wanted no part of the franchise. “I don’t know, and I really don’t care,” Smith told Kevin Acee of U-T San Diego. “I concentrate on the Chargers.” And then it appeared that Smith tried to make it better, until he decided to take a more subtle slap. “I do wish him the best in whatever the Manning family decides,” Smith said. “I don’t know why you would ask me. And I don’t know why anyone is asking Peyton. If you really want to know what’s going on — what trips he’s making and where he’s going to play — call Archie.” Ouch. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/11/a-j-smith-chimes-in-on-the-peyton-chase/
  17. let's say you have $5 mil of cap space to spend... would you rather have a proven player like...let's say the Bills Nick Burnett at $4 mil/yr... or take a chance on a #1 pick like....lets say Luke Kuechly or Courtney Upshaw ? my point is, washington is simply losing the "take a chance on a #1" option, and now must "take a chance on a proven player". they haven't lost the salary cap slot. that #1 pick is being replaced by a free agent. they still get a player to fill that salary cap slot. i call that a wash (no pun intended).

  19. i applaud washingtons bold move..... but those who think the Rams got the better of this deal.....here is an interesting take.... i went back and looked at the last five drafts....to see who had "multiple" first round picks in "back 2 back" years.....which is what the rams will have in 2013 & 2014. lots of examples of multiple picks in one year......but in B2B seasons... it has happened twice.....both examples were B2B in years 2009 & 2010... drum roll..... Detroit and Denver..... both teams having made the playoffs last year.
  20. my guess is that browns felt that the rams really wanted a deal with them (browns) so that they (rams) didn't drop further than #4. the browns dragged their heals a lil playing hardball and didn't step up until AFTER they found out what washington offered. by then it was too late, the rams and redskins had a handshake agreement.
  21. to me, RG III is the next Michael Vick.....without the baggage. He will be one of the most entertaining and exciting players in the game. Tremendous speed, he can engineer big plays with both his arm and his legs. he will put fanny's in the seats....i really applaud washington for being bold. the record setting price they paid ensures this will be looked at for years to come judging which franchise made out best.
  22. i think Seattle at #12 will be desperate to move up for Tannehill.
  23. while all this is true.....and shanahan left denver with $29 mil of dead money.....Snyder has let shanahan do his thing to where Wash is currently almost $40 million under the cap (the bills are about $18 mil under). now they don't have to set aside $5-6 mil/yr for next two years #1 pick.....and can use that money to sign a proven veteran. a "franchise" QB is worth that price......all thats left to argue is wether RG III will turn into one. it's a slow day....someone should start a thread on that.....laffin
  24. Texas A&M held its pro day Wednesday, but quarterback Ryan Tannehill will not work out until March 28, he is still recovering from foot surgery. Scouts Inc ranks him #13 NFLDraftScout ranks him #11 Gil Brandt ranks him #7 http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/09000d5d827522a3/article/hot-100-poe-flies-up-the-board-after-dazzling-combine-showing
  25. Washington's blockbuster deal's domino effect will further invigorate the chase of Manning -- Denver, Arizona and Kansas City are front-runners, with Miami in the mix, according to a league source. The deal also will lead to the enhancement in draft status of Texas A&M's Ryan Tannehill, as well as the allure of free agent Matt Flynn. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d82781141/article/ramsredskins-trade-impacts-more-than-just-teams-involved?module=HP11_cp
