Trade for Phillip Rivers?
papazoid replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
it would take at least a #1.....and i would do it in a heart beat......heck, i would give em two #1's or a #1,#2 & #3... Rivers is 31....that prime for qb's....and is under a reasonable contract.... 8/24/2009: Signed a seven-year, $98.25 million contract. The deal contains $38.15 million guaranteed, including a $19.55 million signing bonus, Rivers' 2009-2010 base salaries, and a second-year option bonus of $6 million. $6 million of Rivers' 2011 salary is guaranteed for injury, but not skill or performance. 2012: $10.2 million, 2013: $12 million, 2014: $13.8 million, 2015: $15.75 million, 2016: Free Agent -

Phillip Rivers is an absolute stud.......we'd be lucky to get him..... funny how really good QB's become bad when their Offensive Lines go from good to bad..... San Diego is 28th in sacks allowed.. -

Direct Snap: Top five spots where Michael Vick could play in 2013 1. Buffalo Bills – Though the team publicly denied being interested in Vick in 2009, a source close to the quarterback insists the Bills were a suitor. Additionally, current Bills starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is a nice player, but hardly a franchise guy. The Bills are built to win as soon as possible. Adding Vick to a team that has a solid offensive line would be an immediate boost. Also, coach Chan Gailey has experience working with mobile quarterbacks from his days in Pittsburgh with Kordell Stewart. Vick is far more talented than Stewart ever was, so Gailey could easily make this work. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl--direct-snap--top-five-spots-where-michael-vick-could-play-in-2013-184931194.html Mike Vick's offensive line was decimated by injuries this year..... 27th in sacks allowed 32nd in QB hits http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?archive=false&offensiveStatisticCategory=OFFENSIVE_LINE&qualified=true&role=TM&tabSeq=2 -
Goodell floats novel idea for replacing kickoffs
papazoid replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The idea would be to remove completely the high-speed, open-field collisions between large men who dip their heads instinctively at impact and place extra pressure on the C3-C4 area of the spine. While other injuries would be possible during the punt play that replaces the kickoff, the risk of catastrophic injury would be reduced. -
Goodell floats novel idea for replacing kickoffs

Onside kicks in the NFL are successful 26% of the time. It’s true, but it’s also very misleading. Onside kick success rates are very dependent on whether the receiving team is expecting one. When teams are expecting it, the success rate is about 20%. But when teams aren’t expecting it, the success rate averages 60%. http://www.advancednflstats.com/2009/09/onside-kicks.html the same folks analyzed 4th & 15.....and claim about a 20% success rate.... http://www.advancednflstats.com/2009/09/4th-down-study-part-3.html -
Sean Gregory of TIME writes that one of the options being considered for replacing kickoffs entails giving the ball to the team that would have been kicking off at its own 30, automatically facing a fourth down and 15 yards to go. The team can then choose to punt or go for it, via fake punt or otherwise. In other words, the kickoff would be replaced with the punt, and the onside kick would be replaced with a fourth-down conversion roughly half the distance of Ray Rice’s recent catch-and-run. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/12/06/goodell-floats-novel-idea-for-replacing-kickoffs/

Six days ago, the Buffalo Bills revealed they still had more than 10,000 tickets unsold for Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams in Ralph Wilson Stadium. They've suddenly all been spoken for. The game will be shown on local TV within a 75-mile radius of Orchard Park. Bills CEO Russ Brandon announced on his weekly WGR segment that local restaurateur Russell Salvatore has committed to purchasing the unsold inventory. That means tickets remain on sale. http://blogs.buffalonews.com/press-coverage/2012/12/russell-salvatore-steps-up-to-ensure-bills-rams-not-blacked-out.html

NFL Passer rating...Fitz 18th , Flacco 19th NFL QBR rating....Fitz 25th, Flacco 18th the 18th rated QB does NOT deserve Top 5 money..... -
thanks russ salvatore.... he's such a smart businessman.... #1- the amount of "free" branding/name recognition he gets from doing this is pure genius. #2- expect to see alot of Russ Steaks Chops & more advertising on TV during the game.

Chan is most at fault for calling too many pass plays..... your best two offensive players BY FAR are freddy and spiller....give them more touches... -
assuming this is close to true....then he gets FRANCHISE TAGGED for at least 1 year....maybe 2...(unless they know he is damaged goods). the franchise tag for O-lineman for 2012 was $9.4 mil , which is down from the $10.1 in 2011. "IF" healthy, miami would be crazy to let him go. the big red flag for jake long is his back.....that back injury may be the reason for his drop off in play....( ie terrell troup). http://www.cbssports...475988/34834810

if your talking about Howie Long....howie is NOT Jake's father.... Jake is a 4 time Pro Bowler...2008, 2009, 2010 & 2011.......that's not hype.... he has been injured of late .....end of 2011 (back) and was just placed on IR this week with a triceps tear to end his 2012 season.. while he may no longer be "elite".....he is certainly an upgrade over hairston. he is just 27 years old.....

i know these guys have a personal life....but, he was inactive yesterday due to a calf injury. on the way home from the game yesterday, listening to the radio, when asked by a reporter, gailey said Donald was held out for as much cautionary as it was serious. bowling is not exactly a strenuous activity, but recently Andrew Bynum (NBA) reinjured himself bowling and experienced a "setback" in his rehab. i just find it odd, that if your injured enough to miss a game, you probably shouldn't be out the next day in a public setting, bowling, golfing or whatever.... anyways, he didn't seem to be favoring either leg.... nice guy, was with his family and some friends. even autographed his jersey for a fan.
