Bills hire Mike Pettine of the Jets as DC???
papazoid replied to LiterateStylish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On the same day that the Bills formally introduced Doug Marrone as their new head coach, the News confirmed that the Jets’ division rivals requested permission to speak to Mike Pettine for their defensive coordinator job. The Jets granted permission. Pettine turned down a contract extension offer from the Jets earlier in the season and is under contract only through the end of the January. http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/jets/2013/01/jets-part-ways-with-quarterbacks-coach-matt-cavanuagh It would be a coup for the Bills to get the Jets’ defensive play caller, whose unit finished in the Top 5 in total defense from 2009-2011 before ranking eighth this season. -
Dr Andrews/Mike Shanahan at odds over RGIII injury
papazoid replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
it's very possible that washington LIED about the severity of his injuries from a month ago...... and that he was going to need surgery at the end of the season anyways..... "if" there were new injuries yesterday, that may or may not have changed the recovery time...... we surely haven't heard the end of this..... the player willingly wanting to "man up" provided the coach with enough wiggle room to put him in..... -
Bills hire Doug Marrone to be Head Coach
papazoid replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
John, Today, I'm experiencing a dream come true. The opportunity to be a head coach in the NFL and to be part of an outstanding organization like the Buffalo Bills is certainly an honor. I'm looking forward to working with the people in this organization, but I am especially excited to work with the players. I was a player in the NFL and I was a coach in the League for seven years. I know the importance of building trust and my first order of business is to begin building that trust with this team. Obviously, there is a lot of work to be done. As I begin to assemble my coaching staff, I will be looking for hard-working, experienced coaches that are excited to be part of the Buffalo Bills tradition. As a coach, I certainly understand the importance of team, and for me that extends beyond the players, staff and coaches. When you have a fan base that is passionate about their team, they provide a unique energy that everyone can feel. Having had the opportunity to coach just down the Thruway at Syracuse, I know the support that exists for the Buffalo Bills. That passion is part of the reason I was so excited to take this opportunity. One of the things Russ Brandon and I discussed during my interview was the passion and loyalty of Bills season ticket holders. We want to make you proud to be a fan of the Buffalo Bills again and we will work tirelessly until that job is complete. This season, I look forward to experiencing the great atmosphere you provide at Ralph Wilson Stadium and I can't wait to celebrate a Championship together soon. Go Bills! Doug Marrone Head Coach -

Owens is part of FOX’s new show Stars in Danger: The High Dive. Premiering Jan. 9 at 7 p.m., the show is billed as “the ultimate test for eight celebrities who will step to the edge and take a flying leap, or momentous belly flop, into diving history.” http://boston.cbslocal.com/2013/01/07/terrell-owens-on-toucher-rich-i-thought-we-were-talking-about-diving/ -

Bills hire Doug Marrone to be Head Coach

Marrone said he will look for coaches with NFL experience in his search for an offensive and defensive coordinator. "We want to be innovative," he said. "We want to be on the cutting edge." Marrone said he will not call offensive plays for the Bills, but he'll have the final say. "I will not be calling plays, but everything will go through me," he said. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8820882/doug-marrone-hired-buffalo-bills -

Mort: Browns rebooting coach search
papazoid replied to Sisyphean Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A week after starting their coaching search, the Browns have to start over again. There's no other option after failing to sign Oregon coach Chip Kelly, the team's top candidate. This is a major setback for the regime of owner Jimmy Haslam and chief executive officer Joe Banner, who wanted to send the message that the new Browns are different than the old ones. After firing coach Pat Shurmur on Monday, Haslam and Banner both boldly said they would go after the top candidates and had no fear of getting one. It's hard to save face during a coaching search that has been a series of blows from not landing Kelly to losing out on both of the fallback options (Penn State's Bill O'Brien and Syracuse's Doug Marrone). http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/post/_/id/62911/browns-look-bad-in-failing-to-land-kelly .....at least the bills can say they got one of the coveted coaches ( cle, philly & san diego)...... -
this could get interesting..... Dr. James Andrews told USA Today Sports that he didn't clear Robert Griffin III to return for four plays against the Baltimore Ravens on Dec. 9 when he sprained his knee as Mike Shanahan had told reporters after that game and that he's still worried about the Washington Redskins quarterback's knee, even though he has been cleared to play. When asked why he risked Griffin's long-term health by letting the quarterback return to the game, Shanahan had said he only let Griffin return after he got the OK from Andrews, who was on the team's sideline. "He's the one that gives me that information," Shanahan said on Dec. 10. "It's way over my head." http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/2012/story/_/id/8818158/robert-griffin-iii-washington-redskins-not-told-dr-james-andrews-re-enter-game Dr. Andrews says RG3 was never cleared to re-enter game http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/01/06/dr-andrews-says-rg3-was-never-cleared-to-re-enter-game/
