  2. NFL will consider other kickoff changes in offseason: NFL executive V.P. of football operations Ray Anderson tells NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport that the powers-that-be also will discuss moving the kickoff point another five yards forward, to the 40. (Last year, kickoffs were moved from the 30 to the 35.) The other proposal would entail the placement of a weight limit on kickoff and kick-return teams. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/12/09/nfl-will-consider-other-kickoff-changes-in-offseason/

  8. he's coming to Buffalo......as our backup qb i do think he's done in philly, i don't think he get a starters job anywhere else, he needs the money bad, he will wind up accepting a backup role in hopes of becoming a starter.....enter buffalo....
  9. Phillip Rivers is an absolute stud.......we'd be lucky to get him..... funny how really good QB's become bad when their Offensive Lines go from good to bad..... San Diego is 28th in sacks allowed..
  10. The penalty was costly for the Jaguars, as it moved the Bills from third-and-10 at the 17-yard line to first-and-goal at the 8-yard line. Buffalo scored a touchdown two plays later. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/12/08/jaguars-jason-babin-fined-21000/
  11. Direct Snap: Top five spots where Michael Vick could play in 2013 1. Buffalo Bills – Though the team publicly denied being interested in Vick in 2009, a source close to the quarterback insists the Bills were a suitor. Additionally, current Bills starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is a nice player, but hardly a franchise guy. The Bills are built to win as soon as possible. Adding Vick to a team that has a solid offensive line would be an immediate boost. Also, coach Chan Gailey has experience working with mobile quarterbacks from his days in Pittsburgh with Kordell Stewart. Vick is far more talented than Stewart ever was, so Gailey could easily make this work. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl--direct-snap--top-five-spots-where-michael-vick-could-play-in-2013-184931194.html Mike Vick's offensive line was decimated by injuries this year..... 27th in sacks allowed 32nd in QB hits http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?archive=false&offensiveStatisticCategory=OFFENSIVE_LINE&qualified=true&role=TM&tabSeq=2
  12. The idea would be to remove completely the high-speed, open-field collisions between large men who dip their heads instinctively at impact and place extra pressure on the C3-C4 area of the spine. While other injuries would be possible during the punt play that replaces the kickoff, the risk of catastrophic injury would be reduced.
  13. Onside kicks in the NFL are successful 26% of the time. It’s true, but it’s also very misleading. Onside kick success rates are very dependent on whether the receiving team is expecting one. When teams are expecting it, the success rate is about 20%. But when teams aren’t expecting it, the success rate averages 60%. http://www.advancednflstats.com/2009/09/onside-kicks.html the same folks analyzed 4th & 15.....and claim about a 20% success rate.... http://www.advancednflstats.com/2009/09/4th-down-study-part-3.html
  14. Sean Gregory of TIME writes that one of the options being considered for replacing kickoffs entails giving the ball to the team that would have been kicking off at its own 30, automatically facing a fourth down and 15 yards to go. The team can then choose to punt or go for it, via fake punt or otherwise. In other words, the kickoff would be replaced with the punt, and the onside kick would be replaced with a fourth-down conversion roughly half the distance of Ray Rice’s recent catch-and-run. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/12/06/goodell-floats-novel-idea-for-replacing-kickoffs/
  15. Six days ago, the Buffalo Bills revealed they still had more than 10,000 tickets unsold for Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams in Ralph Wilson Stadium. They've suddenly all been spoken for. The game will be shown on local TV within a 75-mile radius of Orchard Park. Bills CEO Russ Brandon announced on his weekly WGR segment that local restaurateur Russell Salvatore has committed to purchasing the unsold inventory. That means tickets remain on sale. http://blogs.buffalonews.com/press-coverage/2012/12/russell-salvatore-steps-up-to-ensure-bills-rams-not-blacked-out.html

  20. thanks russ salvatore.... he's such a smart businessman.... #1- the amount of "free" branding/name recognition he gets from doing this is pure genius. #2- expect to see alot of Russ Steaks Chops & more advertising on TV during the game.
