  1. The Greenbriar had the formerly "top secret" facilities for congress in the case of nuclear war. Look up the "Greenbriar Bunker".
  2. When I worked at Stanford back about 20 years ago, now faculty member was studying genetic and heredity. IMHO he was gay (stereotypical affectations), but he couldn't find any linkages between homosexuality and any genetic markers.
  3. 40 today and supposed to be 62 on Thursday. Last time it was over 60 was the one day after the November storm when all the snow melted The buds are out on the true next door (we have evergreens).
  4. When did Jboyst start wearing wings?
  5. Market Street gets the sidewalks regularly scrubbed every morning. If you walk sown it near Van Ness, the store owners have to clean off the urine from the doorways every morning. If you are lucky you get to see a homeless woman changing her clothes right on the sidewalk. Luckily she had long johns on.
  6. I stopped at a Taco Bell very near LAX back in 2000. They had a bulletproof turntable thing in the drive thru. It was near where I got the rental car. when I went to the gas station to top off the tank before turning it in, the station had a loudspeaker announcing to ignore any sob stories from people walking up to uou. Didn't stop them as a women came up claimig to have three kids in a car and needing gas and a guy with a clearly cut fan belt claiming that his car just broke down, And this was with another gas station across the intersection.
  7. He died on my b-day last year. They announced it on that anniversary. Petula bought the team in September. It takes a while to nake a state. Also the weather has been cruddy and they won't install anything until the weather is nice. Don't worry. it should be in place for the season.
  8. How did Gatorman get to Riga?
  9. Gatorman, you have make less sense than I did when I was laying in a hospital bed after my stroke. I don't remember those three days and I still made more sense.
  10. Too bad she isn't interested in men.
  11. Skittles amaze Gatorman.
  12. Denis Leary on coffee (NSFW- language) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-f_dxLiuXuw
  13. I worked at a Denny's in the 70s.Back then a cup of coffee cost 40 cents. The manager told me that that had the largest profit margin, bigger than anything else n the menu. You had to drink >13 cups for them to lose money. Cost the company about 3 cents a cup. Thats greater than 90% mark up.
  14. Heard the birds out in force during my walk todayib the right sunshine in Cheektowaga!
  15. No problem with Starpukes in WNY. There are only 12 in the area, with half near Amherst. Cheektowaga has at least a dozen Tim Horton's alone. No pretentious snobs there.
  16. Sheldon on Big Bang Theory had a solution. Build an exact replica of Israel in the Mexican desert and call it New Jerusalem.
  17. I saw KISS back in aroundJan 1977. This was before the kids (I mean 14 or so )started liking them (Chef Jim was ahead of his time). There were a couple parents with their kids in the row ahead of us. We freaked them out by offering a joint. Of course we didn't light up in front of them.
  18. Never smoked but it did cost my dad an early death. He smoked cigarettes from a teen (around 1945) until the mid 60s. He then smoked a pipe and cigars until1983 when he had a "silent" heart attack and a TIA and quit cold turkey. The damage had already been done and he was diagnosed in 1989 with small cell carcinoma and died about18 months later in 1990 (the day after the big comeback against Denver) at the age of 60. Best not to start at all, but if you do, please quit immediately.
  19. If I ever went to a Starbucks, I'd tell the hipster doofus behind the counter: "F You. Just give me my coffee,"
  20. Since my last post today,I went out again and doubled my distance walking! Went 0.6 miles down the street to my cardiologist's office. Went in and asked if I could rest my leg there for 5-10 minutes. Thanked them and walked back home. Heart was fine, just that the leg gets tired. The office is right on Cayuga Creek and if you walk to the back of the parking lot, it is right above the creek. The creek is moving swiftly, but there are no ice chunks and it has several feet to go before flooding there. That area will not flood as the C of E did a lot of remediation after the flooding from Hurricane Agnes in 1972 and it hasn't flooded since(great work!). Had my phone wake me twice on Sunday night because there were flood alerts for Cayuga Creek in Bowmansville and Buffalo Creek in West Seneca, but those did't flood.
  21. See, people were complaining about the winter not ending just 2 weeks ago. I said, look up, spring is coming. I was right. The snow is slowly disappearing (good thing it is not too fast- less chance of floding). It has been warm enough that I can start walking around the neighborhood. The shoulders here in Cheektowaga are snow free.Went out 3 times last week and found that I can make it about 2/3 mile round trip. Use my mom's cane only on the return trip as the leg gets tired.Left one is the one that was affected by the stroke. No pain, but want to take a nap afterward and sometimes do. Will try to walk a house farther each time as to build my stamina and strength. Hope to be doing 1+ miles each way by the 1 year "anniversary" of my stroke in July. Buds on the trees should start appearing in the next couple of weeks and the robins should be back soon.
  22. Why do you exist?
  23. I suggest a petition to ban the term Native American.
  24. Like Two Cellos version better.
