  8. Dad knew is lung tumor was inoperable from when he got the diagnosis. It was also growing around the nerve to his heart. Lasted about 18 months through chemo and radiation before the cancer started winning again. He was in the oncology ward at Mercy for a few weeks. Voice had gotten horse and then cleared up a few days before the end. He got to reminisce with relatives and us. On Sunday (9/30/90) i had gone to the Bills game where they came back and scored 3 TiDs in 77 seconds. Mom was visiting with him all day Monday and I went about 5 pM to visit and to pick her up. He was saying he couldn't really sleep and that it felt like knitting needles were being used in his chest. I got to tell him about the great game and then he said he wanted to try to sleep and we should go home. He started coughing up a massive amount of blood . We called for the nurses and he died then. I believe the tumor finally weakened the vessels in his lung and he drowned on his blood. Now 30 years later my mother..who is 93 is going down hill. We had a scare a year ago with her getting pneumonia. She had about 3 weeks in a nursing home, but she pulled through. I am the major caregiver now at home. She has some dementia (I have to fill in the details for the Bills and Sabres games) but is not totally out of it. It takes two of us to help her get out of bed and into a wheelchair and the out of the chair and on the toilet and then to clean her up ( very poor balance and getting weaker as time goes by). She may have months left or she may be a stubborn Polska and stick around for another year. Her dad (from the old country and born in 1888) lived until age 94. She had 8 siblings. One is going to be 90 any day now and goes Polkaing with her boyfriend, All the other 7 died between the ages of 83 and 98. My mom is now the second oldest.

  13. Not many like the photo here.Out in your neck of the woods you have those Jerusalem or Potato bugs. They look like that old Cootie game and the same size too. In WNY, potato bugs are little pill bugs . When I first saw a Jerusalem bug in my apt in Cali, I said "WTF is that!? "and beat it to a pulp.
  14. Hotsy Totsy was Debra Lee Scott. She was engaged to a NYC police officer and he was killed on 9/11. That got her drinking and she died in 2005 aged 53 from what i believe was cirrhosis.
  15. Don’t worry Tibs, they’ll pay for your frontal lobotomy.
  16. They were playing in SF until about 5 years ago. They built a new stadium in Santa Clara, a suburb of San Jose. That was a move down the peninsula of about 50-60 miles. Santa Clare is Silicon Valley and is the home of Intel, Yahoo and numerous cimpanies. The stadium was built next to their practice facility in the parking lot for Great America amusement park.
  17. All I know is that Sean Young should have shot Marino when she had the chance.

  19. The correct term is communist base.
  20. Heard something today that Earth Day is 50 years old.One of the so-called "founders"of Earth Day was Ira Einhorn. He has a interesting history. He was kicked out of the group that organized it before it was held, but they let him speak. Seven years later in 1977. He was arrested for murdering his girlfriend. Her body was found stuffed in a footlocker in a closet in his apartment. His lawyer (Arlen Spector-yes, the guy that became a senator) got him released on bail. He skipped town and was tried in absentia and was given the death penalty. He was spotted in Canada, and then in France. John Walsh (America's Most Wanted and from Auburn and an alum of UB)Yracked him down in France and got the French government to hold him, but they resisted extraditing him to the US. Einhorn was finally sent to the US after Pennsylvania agreed to retry him and not give him the death penalty. One of the leaders of the movement should have been executed back around 1980.
