What is this nonsense, Fitzpatrick gametime decision?
vincec replied to Mr. T's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. In addition to that, he would probably be doing Brohm a favor by not starting him and getting his confidence destroyed and injured behind the Bills OL. -
I love that the Bills pick up players cut mid season by other teams and use them as starters. It was bad enough to pull practice squad players and people off the construction line and start them...

[please fix subject]would you make this trade
vincec replied to frogger's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would make the trade, but I seriously question your proposed switch on defense. Johnson and Stroud as defensive ends? Not to mention that our best defensive lineman this year, Kyle Williams, would now become a backup? Overall, it doesn't sound like much of an upgrade to the DL, especially in the pass rush department. We'd be better off rotating Rogers in with Stroud, Williams and Johnson. He'd be a lot better than John McCargo. If we could simply get a higher draft pick for Whitner, I'd be good with that as well. -
I wouldn't say he's distinguished himself in the playing time he's received. As has been mentioned many times, Fewell is trying to win not develop players for the next coach.

Apparently, the Bills didn't think he was any better than who they had at the time (Ellison). Since they are two steps down from Ellison now I suspect that they view June as an upgrade...

Denney and Johnson are solid backups who can contribute on passing downs. Frankly, Johnson has outplayed Stroud this year (which is not good). I have a question, however. If there is no new CBA, won't all free agents next season be restricted FAs? It that's the case there will be very little movement.

Strange how Fletcher seems to always be on one of the best defenses in football. First with the Rams, then the Bills and now the Redskins. Just lucky I guess, I mean it's not like the middle linebacker plays an important role in the defense or anything.

With Washington and St. Louis in dire need of a QB
vincec replied to LABills08's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope that Brohm does play so that I stop hearing about how he will be the Bills next great QB. This guy couldn't even make the Packers roster as a backup QB and will be playing in a new system, with just a few weeks practice with the receivers and behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league. Something tells me it's not going to go well... The fact is that there are very few QBs in the league who could look good behind this offensive line. I think that even excellent QBs that have limited mobility like Rivers or Brady would look mediocre and would likely be injured just like Edwards and Fitzpatrick. I think that Fitzpatrick has actually done about as well as could be expected given the situation. He deserves a shot at the job behind a better line, IMO. -
Why not make Incognito a Nose Tackle!
vincec replied to Lenigmusx's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wonder why most teams just don't put a lineman back at FB anyway. It's really just a blocking position- they never carry the ball. One would think that a 340# lineman can do it better than a fullback provided that he can move. -
WTH was that play??? Washington is putrid
vincec replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dockery and Williams looking good. What kind of team starts OL rejects from the Bills??!! -
If the Bills don't bring in new DL next season the DL play will fall off a cliff. Everyone except for Williams is on the downside of their career and they are just average players to start with...
-
I think Fitzpatrick is a solid #2 QB. No reason to get rid of him. If he had even a little pass protection, he might even look good once in a while...
-
Actually, none of this speculation matters period, since we are not the ones who will be calling the shots. That doesn't mean it's not fun to think about though...

I wonder what happens when/if the Bills bring in another QB (either vet or draft). They can't go into camp with 4 QBs getting a good look as the starter. They just brought in Brohm, so presumably he gets a good look. They have a lot invested in Edwards so the new coach will certainly look at him and Fitzpatrick is currently playing the best of the group. Is Fitzpatrick cut to make room for a new QB? Just wondering out loud...

Don't take it personally. Most posters get lambasted on this board regardless of what they post.

+1. The Bills LBs better not be Harris, Poz and a rookie draft pick...
-
McKelvin is not getting his job back from Florence. He has been our best CB this season.
-
Yup. That'll work. btw- the article didn't make it seem like he was "agreeable to the change"

Top three need to be OT, DE and LB in order of best available unless free agent signings take care of one of these needs first. Ideally, OT would be the top pick but the Bills can't afford to reach for an OT with this pick. They have too many other needs. As for QB, the Bills need to build their line first and give the new coach and OC a chance to evaluate and work with the QBs they have before bringing someone new in, IMO.

Bills claim Incognito
vincec replied to In space no one can hear's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They've brought in several interesting prospects, but they need to cash in on a few of them next season to make the moves worthwhile. I wonder if the Bills have enough internal leadership to handle a player like Incognito... interim coach and everything. -
Byrd gets lots of interceptions because he is ALWAYS playing the ball. He is never looking to make a big hit on a receiver to dislodge the ball or send a message or something like that. He is looking for the ball all the time. That is how free safety is supposed to be played, IMO. Regarding Poz, cut him some slack. Most of those passes over the middle that he was supposed to cover were on play action passes on early downs. He got sucked up and they throw it over him. How do you not commit to the run when you have the worst run defense in the NFL? If the run defense improves, those play action passes to the middle of the field will start to dry up as well.

Don't like it. If there isn't a big time LT on the board then the Bills should look at LB or DE.

I see lot's of posts trying to move Wood to center. I'm not sure that I understand the logic. He appears to have the potential to be a franchise guard and by most accounts that I've read center is an easier position than guard to fill so why make the switch?

Fitzpatrick's biggest problem is his mechanics. He does not have good footwork and rushes a lot of his throws. On the red zone INT there was only one receiver out in the pattern so scanning the field wouldn't have done much. He just needs to take his time and be more accurate. As the announcers pointed out, a pass to the corner of the end zone on that play would've given the receiver a good chance at a TD.
