Don't take it personally. Most posters get lambasted on this board regardless of what they post.

+1. The Bills LBs better not be Harris, Poz and a rookie draft pick...
-
McKelvin is not getting his job back from Florence. He has been our best CB this season.
-
Yup. That'll work. btw- the article didn't make it seem like he was "agreeable to the change"

Top three need to be OT, DE and LB in order of best available unless free agent signings take care of one of these needs first. Ideally, OT would be the top pick but the Bills can't afford to reach for an OT with this pick. They have too many other needs. As for QB, the Bills need to build their line first and give the new coach and OC a chance to evaluate and work with the QBs they have before bringing someone new in, IMO.

Bills claim Incognito
vincec replied to In space no one can hear's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They've brought in several interesting prospects, but they need to cash in on a few of them next season to make the moves worthwhile. I wonder if the Bills have enough internal leadership to handle a player like Incognito... interim coach and everything. -
Byrd gets lots of interceptions because he is ALWAYS playing the ball. He is never looking to make a big hit on a receiver to dislodge the ball or send a message or something like that. He is looking for the ball all the time. That is how free safety is supposed to be played, IMO. Regarding Poz, cut him some slack. Most of those passes over the middle that he was supposed to cover were on play action passes on early downs. He got sucked up and they throw it over him. How do you not commit to the run when you have the worst run defense in the NFL? If the run defense improves, those play action passes to the middle of the field will start to dry up as well.

Don't like it. If there isn't a big time LT on the board then the Bills should look at LB or DE.

I see lot's of posts trying to move Wood to center. I'm not sure that I understand the logic. He appears to have the potential to be a franchise guard and by most accounts that I've read center is an easier position than guard to fill so why make the switch?

Fitzpatrick's biggest problem is his mechanics. He does not have good footwork and rushes a lot of his throws. On the red zone INT there was only one receiver out in the pattern so scanning the field wouldn't have done much. He just needs to take his time and be more accurate. As the announcers pointed out, a pass to the corner of the end zone on that play would've given the receiver a good chance at a TD.

Protect him for what? I don't see how he can be in their plans for next year.

OJ, nude locker room photo after breaking 2000 yard season
vincec replied to 47Yards's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great photo. Adonis at the peak of his physical powers... perhaps the pinnacle evening of his life. -
I have no doubt that Perry Fewell wants to win right now to try and make the best impression around the league for a possible HC position. If he thought that Steve Johnson could help the Bills win, he would be on the field. He is not trying to evaluate players or develop them for the next coach, nor should he be. Same with Hardy and Maybin. These guys are obviously not the best options right now. Frankly, I haven't seen anything in their brief appearance that would lead me to think they could do anything.
-
Too bad he didn't say DT. Stroud's production has been very spotty this year. Maybe injuries and age catching up to him. Johnson is really best as a rotational player so I think the Bills should be looking at a DT on the first day. OL, DE, DT.

News regarding the San Diego Chargers
vincec replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am mostly in agreement with zonabb. I haven't spent $1 on any professional sport except hockey since I moved from Buffalo many years ago. You listed most of the reasons in your post including the most important one: I need the money more than Ralph Wilson does. I follow the team as 1) mindless entertainment and 2) to give me something to talk with my buddies about. The only reason I've paid for the occasional hockey game is because my wife is a fan and it's a fun night out, but I assure you it's rare. -
The best QB for the 2010 Bills...
vincec replied to Armchair GM's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not a really a Losman fan but I partially agree with this. If Losman had solid NFL coaching in a proven system (say like under Shanahan or Holmgren) he could've developed into a journeyman type QB (aka Brian Griese or Jake Plummer). As it is, he's scrambling to even play in the NFL. Same with Edwards... That's why I think getting a good coach, OC and line to play behind has to be step #1- before another QB is drafted. -
Huh? Did you mean aren't aimed at Kelly leaving at all? If so, then what are they aimed at? It sounds like he is very bitter about the coach leaving, going so far as to call him a liar.
-
Here's the reaction from the team: "I don't like it," said Gilyard, the Big East's top receiver and kick returner. "I feel there was a little lying in the thing. I feel like he'd known this the whole time. Everybody knows Notre Dame's got the money. I kind of had a gut feeling he was going to stay just because he told me he was going to be here." and "Just blindsided by the fact that it's a business," Gilyard said. "People lose sight of that. At the end of the day, NCAA football is a business. People have got to make business decisions."

There are typically two sides to every situation, but you are pretty close to correct here. Kelly owes it to the players he recruited and coached for all of these games to be there for them in the biggest game of their season and, for most of them, their entire football careers. To say anything else shows a lack of understanding as to what being a coach and leader is about. I sure wouldn't send my kids to play for him...
-
You make some decent points here, but I really disagree with your assessment of Langston Walker. He was a mediocre RT. He was weak in the running game and a pretty good pass protector for a RT. That kind of player is not worth what the Bills were paying him. The way I read things, the Bills basically said that if Walker is going to stay on this team at what he is getting paid then it's going to be at LT. He failed (partly because of his attitude, IMO), and was cut. I think that Butler would've done just as well, if not better at RT. Hopefully, we'll see next year.

Phillips should have agreed to fire his special teams coach (who stunk) and stayed with Buffalo. He would've had a job for life under Wilson.

Kyle Williams: We are a ''stupid'' team
vincec replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If that was true then the Bills would have a far better pass rush. That's step 1 to stopping the passing game. Teams that are built to stop the pass don't allow NE to score twice in the final 3:30 of the game. -
It's Official, Clausen Entering The Draft
vincec replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You must be joking. ND is the national media darling. Kellen Moore (Boise State) and Tony Pike (Cincinnati) have comparable statistics but you don't see any threads about them... and their teams are undefeated! They're not in the press cycle like the ND qb. Think of all the recent highly touted QBs to come out of ND... Rick Mirer, Ron Powlus, Brady Quinn. How have they fared? -
It's Official, Clausen Entering The Draft
vincec replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Be careful being to high on ND players. They get a lot of press and attention because of their national TV exposure.. much more that they deserve in most cases. If Clausen was on different team with NDs record, no one would be talking about him the way that they are now.
