Poll: Should the "Redskins" name be changed?
vincec replied to Just in Atlanta's topic in Off the Wall Archives
You are correct. The idea that native americans should be treated with respect IS a minority opinion. That is my point. And they have no political power. I'm not sure what your reference to laughable refers to. They are overwhelmingly poor and uneducated, they don't have any influence in congress or other levels of government and they are a massive minority. They are easy to push around. That is why teams like the Redskins or individuals like yourself don't care if you offend them or not. If lucrative corporate sponsorships started drying up then I'll bet the Redskins would change their tune, but that won't happen. It's all about power in the end, and native americans don't have any. -
Poll: Should the "Redskins" name be changed?
vincec replied to Just in Atlanta's topic in Off the Wall Archives
It just goes to show how little regard and sensitivity people in this country have for native americans. Racial epitaphs against all other ethnic groups, including blacks who constantly complain about being belittled, are considered inappropriate but for native americans it's of no importance and in fact offensive garbage if it gets in the way of a good sports team logo. Can't call asians "slopes" or Germans "krouts" or Blacks "ni$$ers" (can't even write that one) or Italians "guineas" or Latino's "spics" but "Redskin" is all good for native americans. It's just because they have no political power in this country. Without power you're at other people's mercy and there is very little mercy in this world. -
Actually, I think that's a picture of you. I was trying to set you up for a witty retort, similar to the "He has a hell of a stiff arm though", but apparently that was too much to ask.

Yes. My thoughts exactly. McKelvin may be at a more desirable position but he is no where near the player Levitre is. I'm glad he's back too but if the choice was between him and Levitre then I think they screwed up.

Poll: Should the "Redskins" name be changed?

I wonder what the reaction would be if there was a team named the New York Ni$$ers. Offensive or just good fun? I doubt that Native Americans see the term "Redskin" as any different. -
Is Kyle Moore an effective 3-4 linebacker?
vincec replied to Ludwig van's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We'll see if he can play 3-4 OLB in training camp but I doubt it. I thought he was a pretty effective 4-3 DE and young. He has pretty good potential to become a solid rotational player, just not for a 3-4 defense IMO. Maybe they'll move Moats back to OLB in the Bills Musical Chairs defense. -
Levitre: Hasn't heard anything from the Bills yet
vincec replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You and others on this board say that they have talked. I hope that they have and are just waiting for a last second, save the day cavalry charge to resign him. I'm not losing any sleep over anyone else that they have cut, including Nelson, and wouldn't miss Fitz too much but Levitre would hurt. He is a good player just entering his prime. Yeah but that draft certainly did not have the look of Nix drafts when he was GM or follow his philosophy. Maybin in round 1? Levitre, Nelson, Nic Harris? 4 DBs out of 7 picks? These are Jauron's picks through Levy, IMO. Small and fast. Nix didn't draft a small OL, DL, LB or S in any of his drafts as GM. -
Levitre: Hasn't heard anything from the Bills yet
vincec replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I suspect that the Bills apparent willingness to let Levitre hit the FA market without even talking to him has at least something to do with Nix's obsession with size. Levitre is not the big mauler that they seem to like on the OL. Getting bigger on OL, getting bigger on DL, getting bigger at WR. Bigger. Too bad that the bigger Bills can't even match the win totals of the small, fast Jauron teams. If a player is good you try to keep him and if he doesn't exactly fit your scheme then you change your scheme to accommodate his abilities. That's good coaching. Forget someone's size. Can the guy play or not? Levitre can play. -

vincec replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let me just ask what would be the strategic advantage for the Bills front office not at least opening a line of dialogue with Levitre by this point if they planned to sign him in less than a week? I can't think of one. -
Packer fan finally gets season tickets....
vincec replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You mean a system where only a select few can ever go see the team play live except for buying scalped tickets at exorbitant prices? That sounds awesome. -
Don't forget Kelvin Shepard or the dark horse Eric Pears. Lot's of candidates. I'm sure that a new whipping boy will be crowned by midway through next season.

KC got raped.
-
With or without Kyle Moore, the Bills don't have an 3-4 OLB on the roster. But they don't have a NT or ILBs either and they need help at QB, WR and CB as well so they could go anywhere with their top pick.

Can you imagine if KC gave up the #1 overall pick for Alex Smith?

Complete Write-off Season?
vincec replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well now that they let David Neslon go I don't see any hope for a good season. -
Bills to let David Nelson walk?
vincec replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe Marrone just doesn't think he is very good, wants to move on and wants to give him the opportunity to look for work elsewhere. Nelson is not even a #3 on a team with a real group of WRs. -

I wouldn't be to sure about that. This is looking like a very strong draft for WRs. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them take one early. -

So both on the team three years. Jones, 82 for 882 and 6 TDs. Nelson 94 for 1042 and 8 TDs. Wow, that's a real upgrade there. I guess you're right. 12 receptions for 160 over three years- 4 receptions and 53 yards per season. ... anyway... -

This is true. I just think you are overestimating how productive Nelson has been. He hasn't been any more productive than Donald Jones and no one was crying when he was shown the door. -

vincec replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just so I am clear. Your argument is that the Bills suck at personnel evaluation, therefore releasing Nelson is a bad move. What if they kept Nelson? That would've been bad too right? The Bills suck at personnel evaluation so every move they make is poor. Correct? -

Milloy, Williams, Fletcher, Winfield, Clements and Greer were all pro-bowlers. Nelson too? What about Evans, Owens, Parrish, J Reed, Hangartner, Incognito, J Scott and Florence? All starters that were released and went on to start for other teams over the past 4 years. No consideration for them? Is Nelson more like them or the first group? Every personnel move that the Bills make is not wrong, although that seems to be the default position of most posters. -

vincec replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Who cares what they make? Are you getting a cut or something? The Bills are under the cap. Nelson produces the same or less, therefore he is equivalent. Kelsay is not that good either but he is just the latest whipping boy like Peters, Bell, Whitner and Posluszny before him. Of course, haven't you been reading? In the hands of Tom Brady Nelson will be the next Randy Moss. The Bills are doomed. -

What history? Despite a few exceptions, the vast majority of players that the Bills let go really do suck. It's people like YOU that are always whining about every personnel decision the Bills make. It get's old. -

The fact is that Kelsay has been MORE productive than Nelson over the course of his career. Nelson is not even a starting caliber WR on a team with very weak WRs. He is a role player, just like Kelsay. Honestly, all the crying about Nelson is a joke. I think that people on this board have been watching mediocrity for too long to see it for what it is.
