The players seem to be calling for a hard ass control freak. But how do you think a hard ass control freak will work with Whaley and Brandon? It didn't go so well with Marrone.
They need someone who will be a hard ass with the players but a kiss ass to the GM, President, and of course, Owners. Good luck.
I doubt that a guy who has been a successful defensive coordinator in the NFL for 15+ years only had one scheme or was incapable of adjusting to offenses. Rex is just the latest scapegoat for what is a much wider problem.
I heard him say the exact opposite in an interview with John Murphy a couple of years ago. He said that he'd be interested but understands that his chance may have passed him by. However, that was before Denver's defense won them a Super Bowl.
IF Fisher is even interested in returning to a DC role at this stage of his career, I wonder what the dynamic would be like between Lynn, who has never been a HC at any level (and an OC for only part of one season) and Fisher who has been a HC for an eternity.
I find it interesting that Marrone, who was an offensive guru, had a good defense and a crappy offense and Ryan, who was a defensive guru, had a good offense and crappy defense. Both with similar players. What do you make of this? Strange.
The OL play is a tribute to the Roman/Lynn system, IMO. I would try to keep everyone and I wouldn't be surprised if these players regress under a new system and/or with a new team.
So, is Shady wrong? The players have been unaccountable. Like Dareus. They don't pay attention to the details and then blame the coach for their slackness. It's on them.
Or will the Bills apologists now attack Shady?
This the least accountable franchise I can remember. They are a team of scapegoats. Rex scapegoats Roman. Whaley scapegoats Rex. Now the defensive players scapegoat Rex. How about a few more people saying that they screwed up and need to be way better?
Once financial concerns override winning, then you're going to have a problem with motivation. The Bills are going to mail this game in. No question in my mind.
So because Rex scapegoated Roman, Whaley didn't scapegoat Rex? Back to logic class...
It's all good. We'll just be back here in another year or two hearing how none of this is Whaley's fault.
Yeah, that's his job.
But why throw him under the bus after one season? That's ok because he didn't have the final sign off on the hire? He was very quick to scapegoat both HCs he's had.
You're letting him off way to easy, IMO.
If he's a true team player then he should be doing everything he can to support his HCs. Instead, he's a major reason in why they are leaving. That's not good.
Lol. Right.
He can't work with Marrone... Marrone is gone.
He throws Ryan under the bus saying that Ryan hasn't produce with the "elite talent" he has provided... Ryan gone.
Now he leads the search again with no responsibility for how the the previous two situations ended?
You are in a dream world if you don't think he is a major factor in the disfunction. But carry on with your spin.
Rex was right.
How do you think Kyle Williams or Hughes or Gilmore or a host of others feel about the team risking an injury to them in a meaningless game? Either play it like a preseason game or play to win.
