I'm not asking for exotica. Every non-Bills game I watch has professionals succeeding at the basics of the game to some degree. When I watch the Bills, its as though I'm seeing the creeping but consistent de-evolution of the game.

Why are the Bills unable to run the normal complement of routes to free receivers? Why is every route straight line deep or a dump off? Why can't they run intermediate or shallow crossing routes to give Lee and TO a running start. Why is the passing game so boring? Predictable?

Bills LBs are no beuno. I'm really down on Kawika, slow and unable to sustain a burst throughout a 6 second play. I saw Maybin 10 yards deep after being turned back off the rush.

This was interesting premise that fell flat. From the promos I would have thought these guys shared some (recent) history together. It was more like three strangers awkwardly getting on together. Not insightful or remotely engaging. I've dug Jack White since De Stijl dropped, but he will never match Page's accomplishments on the guitar. He is a creative dude though. The Edge is a fine guitarist with a distinct sound (too much on the effects side for my taste), but not exactly an innovator. He borrowed Keith Levene's sound and beat it to death. But again, I'm also one that thinks U2 peaked in 1992.

I prefer my team display a workmanlike confidence as they rip your throat out. 'Swagger' in the context of sport is meaningless. A bunch of goofballs talking smack or prancing about with exaggerated gestures is not a measure of confidence or competence. It's a myspace page or a Black Eyed Peas video. I have mixed feelings on Mitchell. When he gets a head of steam and unloads it's pretty cool. More often he looks slow in space and it seems he fails to exert full effort. On Pats first TD last week, an unblocked KM could have filled the hole and plugged Taylor. Instead he took a half-speed swipe and completely whiffed. I've seen him give up on plays on more than a few occasions.

My father made the exact observation the first time Fox went on air with the NFC. I've wondered since how they are not sued for the uncredited use of that portion of the jingle. Maybe they own the rights? Furthermore, I can't look past the fact that Fox studio is in LA. Now we all know that football is entertainment, but those buffoons at Fox traditionally have stopped just short of mockery of the game with their antics. LA has a rich football tradition, but the Fox studio show might as well be TMZ. While growing-up in the NY metro area, we were blessed with a surplus of serious sports journalism and commentary across media. Now, the volume is on mute across the board.

Playing for the Raiders puts any player at a developmental disadvantage, probably more so at the quarterback position. In Russell's case, inexperienced receivers aren't the problem. His horrible accuracy is. He's just what Davis ordered, a one trick mortar.

Donte played very well today. It was such a switch for him that Daryl Johnston kept calling him Ronde Barber. I hope he keeps it up.

Didn't see Nate today, but in his first year in the Bay, he was excellent. I watched the Vikings/Browns today and let me say that Antoine Winfield was a complete stud. Stronger in run support than any defender currently on the Bills and mostly avoided in coverage. Watching him and Phat Pat hold down the fort for the vikings was a pleasure (the other Williams was pretty good too).
