  1. I've never understood the Skins' infatuation with the guy. Marginal NFLer.
  2. Byrd's got a lot of learning to do, but I'd rather have him on the field getting experience. He's made some bad plays in run support, still I doubt either Whitner or Scott come up with the the same picks no matter how bad the qbing has been. Will he grab two a game? Doubtful. But even considering the horribly thrown balls he's snagged, Byrd has demonstrated excellent awareness and h/e on the two tipped knucklers. I don't know if the majority of dbs make those catches. He's not well rounded yet, but he seems to a have a knack for being near the ball. Face it - without those turnovers and shortened field, there's no way in hell the Bills offense scores enough to win the last two. I'm not going rehash the Whitner debate. Solid player, sure. Hasn't displayed the ranginess or awareness on the ball at free imo, and though he can play physical, is too small at strong (especially when covering TE's). Plus, he's been injured for stretches the past couple of years. I wonder if it is an anomaly, or he simply can't hold up to the level of physicality he tries to exert. Scott is basically a linebacker at strong with all the benefits and liabilities that brings (Louis Oliver anyone?), and Wilson's best attributes are that he's smart and a gamer. The kid has to stay in.
  3. How may Bills could actually net more than a 3-5 pick? I would retain all the DTs not named McCargo. Denney and McCargo are likely gone at the end of the year. If some team offered a 2 for Schobel in the off season, I'd do it to get younger and save cash. Kelsay is worthless in terms of return. The Linebackers are poor; journeymen, in development (Harris, Palmer) or worse. If Poz is your best, what would he net? A fifth? McGee, McKelvin, and Florence are keepers. I like Corner and Yourbooty for depth. Wilson is a role player. Byrd is a good prospect. Whitner is ok, but in a salary dump what would you get for him (a 4?). Scott won't be around. Offensively Evans is your best currency. I cringe every time I see him play with the knowledge that his career (as moulds) is lost in the post-Kelly Buffalo receiver vaccuum. His talent is largely wasted. What would be had for him? A 2nd? Marshawn might get a 3rd. After that, who else would even generate a pick? Parrish? A 7th?
  4. I agree with what you say, but the kid caught a couple of knuckle-ball tips and out-fought an opponent for a third. He seems to have awareness and H/E coordination that the other dbs don't have. His future is bright if he improves on his coverage skills and keeps working the angles properly.
  5. Neither of the young OTs have any ass therefore no ballast. They stand around a lot watching shiite go bad. Fitz looks nominally like a QB in regards to instincts (ie looks and throws deep, moves around, appears to be a gamer) but has little skill, less touch (Evans deep ball excepted) and horrible timing. Poz is slow. He has good positional smarts and seems to hustle to get near the ball in pursuit, but looks like he has lead in his shoes. Never really lays the lumber either. Great bod, no explosion. Watching Patrick Willis today offered a sobering contrast in the LB play. Our LBs pretty much suck even with Kavika. Marshawn brings new meaning to high motor. He actually is explosive, unlike the Bills DEs, but revs in place instead of forward. Granted the OL is completely abysmal as a unit, but Freddy has better patience, is more slippery and makes better use of space. I don't get why the Bills don't try to get him involved ala the NE game. TO is afraid of contact. Forget the drops (the ones that were catchable). That reverse had a brief window of success, but he refused to square up, churn forward, and take the pain. Who covers RBs out of the backfield? I saw the Panther RBs catching the ball short out of the backfield with no one on them. I was impressed that on several occasions, Bills DBS came up quickly (in pairs) to box the RBs in and limit the damage, but who has primary coverage for chrissakes? I like Drayton Florence and think Corner had decent coverage on the Smith 4th down catch, he just didn't turn his head to the ball.
  6. Think Whitner makes the shoestring tackle on Smith?
  7. This is how it works: When she finally unbolts her knees for you, you're indebted for life.
  8. Let him down? Losing game after game? Dude was still shaking an injury when TB lost the opener in 2008 and then Greise took over. When Garcia came back TB won 6 out of 7. TBs Defense and lack of talent (sound familiar) was the huge reason for TB's collapse in the latter part of the season, which still netted a 9-7 season (when's the last time The Bills finished north of mediocrity?).
  9. Best move the Bills can make right now. Garcia is no panacea, but someone that make the Bills competitive against the mostly shtty opponents they play and increase fan interest in this moribund franchise. I can't even watch the Bills anymore, not because they lose, but because they play an incredibly boring brand of football. The guy can play even if the clock is ticking on his career. The Bills have garbage at the position and receiver talent rusting on the vine. At the least, he'll make things interesting with his legs, at best he'll hit some deeper balls than we've seen so far. He and Owens will be gone next year anyhow. The dude played in Calgary, he can play in Buffalo. He'll make use of his offensive resources, he'll be cheap, and we'll score a little to make it a bit more fun in defeat.
  10. Was the Jet John Dockery? I remember seeing a show where he walking around decrepit Randalls Island Stadium in NYC reflecting on the awful conditions during his time with the WFL. I think he have won SB lll with the Jets
  11. Winfield was a keeper. I love how he thumps people and, based on my viewing this year, he seems to set the tempo for the back 7 on d. Nate wasn't worth the jack - what corner truly is save for Asogmuha - though I think he's a very good physical corner (run support and coverage). He lost some weight to improve on last season which wasn't his best. He looks quicker this year, and if you can overlook the Roddy White game, he's played well. Let's face it, Nate gets burned cause he takes a lot of risks, not always wise ones. The thing that pissed me off was that we got nothing for him.
  12. I saw the game and I agree with you. I didn't realize Winfield was out until 41? was in and kept getting scorched. I've seen 5 of the Vikes games this year and Winfield still excels. The knock on his coverage is way overblown.
  13. Samson needs longer hair and a shot of Calcitonin to go with his roid neck.
  14. The assertion is crap. It's not geography - it's the player. And the pro game eludes most top college qbs. The draft hype machine serves only to push contract values skyward and build expectations to levels impossible to satisfy. btw -Leinhart plays in the desert if he even plays at all.
  15. Gill Byrd is his pops. Don't think any relation to Butch.
  16. Love it. My dad used to call McCutcheon (when with the Rams) 'Pizza Hut' given the copious adipose around his gut and ass.
  17. Is it me or does the Jill (even by 1980 standards) at 4:49 of part 3 smoke any of the current Jills.
  18. More likely you would have gotten them both off. Your proposed solution proved not that you're big, but a big 'Mo.
