  1. I thought that was 9 games in any given season? Regardless they are actually hurting Tuel and not protecting him. If he stays active for the 9 weeks he can not even join any practice squad in the future. This means he will be out of the NFL after one year and no longer able to learn or make money playing football for the NFL. Unless, of course, someone is going to put him on the active roster which seems unlikely at this point.
  2. The biggest problem with letting Levitre walk was that we didn't have a plan for his replacement. They should have at least signed Rinehart that, I think, was the biggest issue. He is certainly not better than Levitre but he is better that what we have in there now.
  3. So I am confused ... the Bucs have to pay his original salary less what ever he makes from a different team and he signed a deal for 3Million with the Viks? Basically allowing Tampa to pay only about half they were originally going to pay? Did I miss something?
  4. Funny that before 2 weeks ago we didn't know there was any baggage at all. I have a feeling if this was last year and the prospect of trading for Freeman, then, was a reality, people on this board would have jumped at it.
  5. It is if you are forcing your talent, in this case Freeman, to adhere to a system that is not their strengths. Schiano wants it his way and that disregards the strength of his player. Classic case of system is more important than talent. He won't last that way.
  6. He is just winded at times that is why his numbers are low On a serious note ... do we know the percentage of throws to RBs this year. I imagine its low since we are not running screens.
  7. There was a story out just yesterday or Monday that said the Bills are getting frustrated and believed he could have played by now. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/writer/jason-la-canfora/23910699/tension-mounting-with-injured-star-safety-jairus-byrd-bills "Some within the Bills organization believe he could have already played this season, and that growing disconnect is creating mounting tension between the sides."
  8. Ha! I was thinking the same thing. Plus I find it amazing that according to him he just got orthotics this week. "I just got some really nice, expensive orthotics made last week," he said. "It's helping a lot. Shout-out to the training staff on that." How does someone who battled this for a full season and had a whole off season with apparent pain just this week get orthotics?! Its on any website as a recommended course of treatment for his issue. You are telling me his doctors would not have recommend them? I think they should keep him out till next week, just to be safe
  9. If anyone with a broken bone is back before Byrd I think it is ridiculous not to question his injury. Maybe its just me but Gilmore coming back before Byrd seem a little silly no? And it kills me to here CJ say if 85% I'll be out there and Byrd says I need to be 100%. No one is 100% at this point. I wonder if his teammates think less of him?
  10. As EJ has only left the pocket a handful of times I don't see the "the Browns haven't played a QB like EJ" its not like he has been lighting anything up with his legs. In fact, he has had opportunities to do so and hasn't. I am not saying he doesn't run at all but he is hardly Wilson, Kap, or RGIII in that sense.
  11. I've heard this as a reason not to renovate or of requesting a new stadium. But I don't understand ... aren't there blue prints to recreate the "bowl" so any renovation or new build would have the same bowl but better amenities?
  12. I love the emblems where the first initial of the team is part of the mascot ... like the Rams, Falcons, Jets and the Dolphins. Also like the Steeler Idea and the Cowboy on the Star.
  13. As I understand it assistants have contracts that are enforceable for any lateral move; however, if they are offered a head coaching job then they are able to take that job. This too requires another team to request an interview before talking to said assistant.
  14. I believe since technically the team could fake from that formation that is why that call would result in a first down. I could be wrong but that is the only reason I could come up with.
  15. I have seen this a few time in this forum First Hernandez is never returning and second the bills played without their best DBs too ... try not to forget that Glimore nor Byrd were out there.
  16. They are so quick to get rid of Sanchez(which many of us would agree with but ...) I think they are blinded by the shiny new toy. They should learn the idiom: Better the devil you know ...
  17. The bills should keep him on the team, at least for the remainder of the season. What he wants is not really relevant, this a chance for Whaley to show the Bills will not be held hostage by Parker or anyone else. And if they really want to go all Al Davis they let him ride the bench al el Marcus Allen. Although I don't see any team taking that stance again.
  18. Tuel was considered by some to be a good late round option for QB needy teams. The fact that he is a UDFA is not really an issue he is either on the team or he is not. How many first rounders do we still have on our time from the last ten years? Funny how the draft is a crap shoot but a UDFA one in a million. At this point neither he nor Manuel have been in a game to prove if they are going to be as good or as bad as people are projecting. For now, since Tuel has been studying the offense since April, he is in better shape to run the offense on week one than Leinart or Lewis. As for Manuel the only thing he has over Tuel right now, besides pedigree, is more time with the firsts and seconds. I am not proclaiming Tuel to be the next anything but to put Manuel in a stratosphere above Tuel before anyone takes a regular season snap seems a little silly. One way or another we have a rookie QB starting and hopefully, whoever plays, they will play well.
  19. I think its a good coaching move. A lot of coaches would dumb down the offense and jam a vet in there just to play it safe. They should give EJ more time and hold him out ... especially if, as many in this tread are predicting, the will get rolled by NE anyways. Give EJ an extra week to heel and then prepare him for week 2(unless, of course, Tuel lights it up).
  20. A successful coach should be able to manage incumbent personalities and the loyalties that are there along with playing the best possible player. It happens with all the other positions on the team and QB should be no different. Look at Shanahan did in Washington and Fox did in Denver. You should be able to use your current players and manage the egos/loyalties. If he was a distraction then you release him but that was not the case. The FO made a decision to cut his salary or him and that is about money not loyalties. He could have been left on the roster in the same capacity as Kolb was added for. They wanted to save actual cash.
