  1. I think Lovie is the type of coach who may be able to build a successful defense against the new england juggernaut. He has been in their division so he had no need but he built the Tampa 2 because of the division he was in when he was in Tampa with Dungy. And the first thing any coach should do, imo, is beat new england! When Marv got here his first goal was just beat Miami. If you build your team to beat new england, you can complete with anyone in the league.
  2. Agreed, it seems like the Whiz doesn't fit either category "leaving no stone unturned" or "right fit". Also, he would be the 3rd former Pittsburgh assistant we will have hired... what is that about doing the same thing over and over again .... Oh well.
  3. Or they made up their mind already and are just going through the motions for the fans. KC and Cleveland spent hours and hours with there candidates and we only spend a couple hours on each? seems like they could have gotten this done in a day if that silly bowl game wasn't an obstacle lol.
  4. There is nothing to those articles ... lol ... almost like a boiler plate so they don't have to write them over the weekend.
  5. Well actually he has to suggest to the organization that he wants to hire someone, the team actually hires them. Maybe that is a plus for the Bills ... perhaps they could help with the selection process differently then the Bears did?
  6. +1 I think the fact that he knows what the best fit for him is actually pretty important. He sought out the Bills over 5 other opportunities because he believes its the best place that he can succeed. That should give everyone the Fans, FO, and players something else to consider.
  7. I keep reading and hearing this but I don't see this being a problem. I don't think his choice of Mike Martz was a bad choice he was the architect of the "Greatest show on Turf" after all. It was more that Culter couldn't get along with Martz. So, I think that is more of an inditement of Culter than Smith.
  8. In the interview he claims to have LS fired Rivera but I believe Rivera's contract was just not renewed, he wasn't fired. Wouldn't know what was occurring during contract negotiations. And even with the supposed failings that Jonny Von mentioned LS still has a winning record.
  9. IDK I guess if you are being cynical you could say it is the Rooney rule ... or you could look at his record and say (not based on color) its pretty good. http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2012/12/31/3823318/lovie-smith-nfl-coaching-rumors-2013
  10. Plus he was able to do all that with substandard QBs much of his tenure in Chicago. Just think what he could do with a really good QB ... if we get one.
  11. More likely they are reporting what Andy Reid's agent told them which helps him get a better offer from the Cards.
  12. OK. So, this may be a stupid question but I am curious, since I read this all the time "He doesn't have the arm". Isn't there something a QB can do for that? And Its seems to me nearly anyone can heave a football 40 yards if they try. You may not get it where you want it but distance seems like it would be a problem for any professional athlete. So isn't there some exercises to work on the "Arm". I seem to remember that Trick QB that we brought it for training camp was good at placing the ball anywhere he wanted. I doubt that was something he was born with how does one practice that(putting the ball where you need to)? And shouldn't Lee be helping with all this?
  13. ELEVENTH CLAIM FOR RELIEF (Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress) They are going all out on this huh? As if the first 10 are not enough.
  14. I think the NFL should make it an away game for both teams

  16. So a month ago we are praising Kelsay for helping get Mario in here now we think he should be cut because he wants to keep his number? Unreal!
  17. From what I have heard him say several times I think they are taking the BPA. If you listen to the interview and to his statements for the presser he stated "We believe there are 10 top players in this draft and if one comes off the board we will go to our next guy on our board". I think the rank the BPA for 1-to "their draft position" and go from there. Now if there is a position they don't need they may leave that off but their board but there are only 2 positions I think they are really set at and that is DE and RB, maybe DT. Thoughts?
  18. Brady missed the 2008 season and the Pats went 11-5 as well as losing the division to a team not emphasizing the quarterback position by going with the Wildcat.
  19. I think it is more due to perception than the player's actual ability. Many coaches don't like putting a "Un-drafted" or late rounder guy in when they have a 1st - 4th rounder in that position. Those players sit on the practice squad and rarely get the opportunity to even participate. Even after FJ proved himself he was still sitting behind Lynch. And Wilson had to wait of Donte to get traded. That is the real farce of it all. You may have great talent in later rounds but they may never get the opportunity because of their draft position not because they need that time to "Develop".
  20. I agree with the OP but I also see some issues that seem to get over looked when evaluating Nix too. The change to the 3-4 was short sighted from Nix and Gailey. That is one area they didn't need to change on the team they inherited. I think what a lot of people forget is that Jauron's teams defenses were actually really good .... at least for up to 3/4 of a game. The problem was that offense could rarely move the ball and the defense was worn out by the end of the game. Had they retained Fewell and just fixed the offense I think we would have seen that swift change we see with other teams. Also, while I like CJ I think at the time it was the wrong pick. That said the handling of the Lynch and Edwards can be seen as good moves, although I think trading Edwards may have been a better option than cutting him directly(but perhaps there was not interest). IIRC Nix was here a season before he became GM so he should have know the talent of the team and can be given credit of some of them on the roster that have been kept. Also, his first draft was performed under the guidance of the old scouting dept so he deserves so leeway there.
  21. I love how MW has been in Buffalo since 5:30 Tuesday and Walker on the AFC East blog doesn't say anything substantial about it till 10 AM Thurs. A Pats player sneezes and he writes a fifteen paragraph piece about it.
