Again, im not saying Gilmore is a bad player. Hes a good player. We got half a decade out of him with very little success. We got his best years.
Is Gimore as good as Patrick Peterson or Richard Sherman? No. But the pats are paying him as if he is. Bc they have Brady and can afford to cut corners throughout the roster. We cant.
Agree on the 2 automatic losses. But Gilmore isnt really head and shoulders better than what they already had at CB. Them getting Brandon Marshall or an elite pass rusher wouldve scared me more.
Exactly. So if he has played well and the defense has still sucked why would the Bills make him the 2nd highest paid CB? Obviously his play hasnt been a game changer. Theres no Gilmore island last i heard.
Agreed. But honestly why are we even giving so much attention to the pats? Nothing is changing. Theeyre going 13-3 regardless of what they do. Its BB and Brady everything else is just noise.
Let them get every single player i say. Makes the rest of the league easier to beat
We were trying to make the playoffs last year and Gilmore's defense averaged giving up 33 points a game in 5 games vs the Jets, Dolphins, and Pats. 33 points per game against. Let that sink in, and then move on.
Hes a good CB. But many people around the league feel hes not great. Hes about to be paid top 2-3 CB $ by a team with the geeatest QB in the history of the NFL and the greatest HC in the history of the NFL.
That team can afford to carry a roster that would probably go 4-12 without said HC and QB and thus they can afford to make a big splash and overpay a good CB by paying him as if he was patrick peterson. Hes not patrick peterson. We're better for it. Move on.
Additional reasons for staying. People seem to overlook how much success the offense had while he was here. The offense was breaking Bills records for scoring and going into week 17 was like 6th in the NFL. Mostly without Sammy playing. TT knows hes got a good thing here on the offensive side. Hes still getting a crapload of guaranteed money.
1. Because maybe he and his agent realized it would pretty much be between the bears and the browns. And neither of those opportunities were attractive to him compared to buffalo.
2. The total amount of guaranteed money hes missing out on over the life of the contract isnt that substantial when you have to consider moving ur family again and going to unknowns with new teams one of which is a massive dumpster fire in the Browns. Maybe he feels pretty comfortable with an offensive coordinator he knows and the new HC? And that alone is worth staying bc he knows his career can still improve.
3. Ive never met the guy or know him in any way. But from everything ive read it seems like he kinda goes to the beat of his own drummer.
Just throwing some things out there to counter.
Im sorry. I dont buy the sending out feelers bit when:
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Mike Glennon's impending contract with the Bears is expected to be for three years at an average of $14.5 million per season.
In 5 of the 6 games vs the AFC EAST our defense averaged 33 godforesaken points a game. 33.
In the other game, they faced the Pats without Brady, or else we probably wouldve broken some NFL record for most points given up to divisional opponents.
Here's a better stat, and Ill quote myself again:
Since 2015, the Chiefs are 15 - 1 in games where they score 25 points or more.
Since 2015, the Bills are 9 - 8 in games where they score 25 points or more.
Fix the defense. Make the playoffs.
I would.
We also have Listenbee coming back to the WR mix.
Ideally with more cap space now id like to push to resign Woods.
Sammy. Woods. Hunter. Listenbee. Or Draft a WR first 3 rounds and let Woods walk
And focus 2 of the first 3 draft picks in our secondary.
