  1. If the whistle doesn't blow, Gilmore doesn't give up. Amendola makes the catch, but doesn't get another 15 out of it.
  2. This feels like a Charles Clay week...
  3. No - his offensive line does.
  4. If the refs could manipulate a game for 1 player, it would have very minimal impact on those lining the pockets of the ref. Best case scenario is that Hedge Fund X puts $1 million dollars into lineups with Karlos Williams exclusively, and the refs do what?... agree not to call holding on his TD runs? Do they collectively agree to call holding on TD runs by all other RBs in the league in vast conspiracy? I think its much easier and plausible for a ref to ensure a certain team wins or loses vs a point spread.
  5. I've played for 2 years with modest casual success (turned $200 into $1200 playing NFL games cash games only). Bottom line, it's speculation and not investment. You have some idea of what it takes to build a successful lineup, but you have no control over the outcome. All you can do is put yourself in the best possible position to take advantage of luck. Like anything in life, those that put in the most resources (time, knowledge and money) have the opportunity to be the biggest winners and should be able to eek out an advantage over those that are more casual. To that extent, I see it no differently than internet poker. I believe that both should be legal with heavy government oversight to make sure that those on the inside are taking only the rake and nothing more. Both have failed once either perception or reality showed that the industry itself was stealing from the consumer. In theory both should be largely profitable without enterprises without having to steal, but greed is greed. It is far less "luck" dependent than the lotto or scratch offs. It's also much less likely to impact the outcome of events than typical sports betting or horse racing, where one person or one team can significantly impact the outcome if paid off. *for the record - I do not believe that the "scandal" earlier this season was cheating, but without checks and balances in place, there's was nothing in place to prevent something more sinister from occurring. It's a shame that the AG has ignored the steps that have taken place between that date and yesterday. The government also gets taxes on any earnings over $600 in a given year, and the luxury of not allowing the losers to claim losses unless they're a professional gambler.
  6. The injury bug has been unreal this season. What would the undefeated Bengals look like if: AJ Green had missed multiple games (Watkins) Brandon Tate missed multiple games (Goodwin) Jeremy Hill had missed multiple games (Karlos Williams) Gio Bernard had missed multiple games (Shady) Andy Dalton had missed multiple games (Tyrod) Marvin Jones had missed multiple games (Harvin) Clint Boiling had missed time (John Miller) Andre Smith missed time (Henderson) That's just the offense... We came into this season with a plethora of weapons on offense, and unfortunately we have yet to see the roster that Whaley put together on the field. Hopefully this week fixes a lot of those wholes, but I can't blame him for anything outside of hiring an undisciplined loud mouth that doesn't worry about small details (like charging headset batteries).
  7. There's enough of a meth problem in upstate/western NY. No need to add fuel to the fire.
  8. If you bring me some Dark Hollow bourbon stout from Blue Mountain Brewer in Charlottesville, you're welcome to tailgate with us! That stuff is my liquid crack.
  9. On the bright side, with EJ under center, Watkins has a chance to be more productive if the line can give EJ some time.
  10. If the purpose of jail/prison is reform, Kromer should be free to go. It's obvious that he's a changed man now.
  11. Does anyone know if the Cowboys is sold out? I'm not eligible until tomorrow at 9AM. Thanks.
  12. Food prices in luxury boxes at any venue are ridiculous. At the Carrier Dome for instance - chicken wings are $2 a piece. An Italian sub is $95, cheese board $98, etc. It's easy to get a spend over several thousand dollars if you're hosting the day for a group guys that likes to drink. I wonder if beer sizes are taken into account in the study.
  13. The problem with that logic is that the balls were tampered with after the leagues inspection. Had that been Brady's defense, why would the ball boy lower the pressure after the league approved the balls... and why would the ball boy be given gifts from Brady.
  14. Show me another QB - active or retired - that says that they change(d) the inflation level of balls after they've been checked by the league. Aaron Rodgers admitted to overinflating balls and hoping the league didn't catch them during the approval process. That to me is completely different.
  15. Preaching to the choir - but how can people say there is no evidence that Tom Brady wanted the balls to below the leagues threshold of 12.5 -13.5 lbs? Had Brady simply said, "I like my balls soft", the equipment manager would have inflated them to the league minimum and the story ends. Instead the balls were inflated to the league minimum, tested and then altered after said test. Subsequently the self proclaimed "Deflator" received items of value from Tom Brady. Does Tom routinely provide shoes, autographs and merchandise to other staff members for simply doing their jobs? Had the equipment manager underinflated the balls prior to the league testing them and the league official didn't catch it - that's gamesmanship. Deflating them after they've been approved is cheating, no different than a pitcher scuffing a baseball.
  16. The "family" game is the best experience if you have young children - better than a regular season game in my opinion.
  17. Isn't Mario his neighbor?.. I remember pictures of Mario in the bobcat clearing Jim's driveway this winter.
  18. I've heard Jennings in a couple different interviews this offseason, and I don't like his attitude. He's openly said that along with the money that he chased in Minnesota, he left Green Bay because they had too much talent, and couldn't reach his individual potential with the depth they had..."
  19. exactly - someone else said there's logic to consider him a top 3-5 TE in the draft (not a UDFA). I find it hard to believe that someone who was ranked 4th best in the Colonial Athletic Conference at his position will be a top 3-5 TE in the NFL draft.
  20. It's hard to get excited about a third team All-Colonial Athletic Association TE.
  21. Should Dante Hall and Devon Hester be in the hall of fame?
  22. How nice... each of his kids get their own bathroom.
  23. I use them all the time. They're great, and if you're not into soldering, they're worth the hefty price tag.
