  1. Please. We've all been right/wrong about prospects in the past. A guy isn't a 4th-round caliber player just because you think he is, and even if you believe him to be a very likely bust, then calling him a 4th-round caliber player is incongruous to that sentiment. If he's got as limited a chance to play in this league as you have tirelessly professed, then he's not worth drafting. Why take a doomed prospect in the 4th round, especially if you're always right about these things (which I'd welcome any links to previous evaluations that prove your respective genius on such matters)? Congrats on outsmarting the football-watching world on that cast of characters by the way, nobody else called that
  2. He can also sell giving up next year's 1st given the team's cap situation (which will most likely include $70M in space) going into 2019.
  3. I totally understand that position, and I don't disagree. As you know, he's my QB4, and I'm on record that I would take Rosen at No. 1 overall because I think he's the cleanest prospect with the highest floor, and that he can make all of the NFL throws. I think they'll bring him in...of course, they're not bringing in Darnold, so perhaps they'll go see Allen in a similar fashion. Yeah, we actually don't disagree on the player evaluation much (if at all)...I'm just more willing to miss on Allen than most others.
  4. Only a fan with no skin in the game could call a guy that is almost certain to be a top-10 pick a "4th round caliber (sic) player". Allen has visits lined up with the Browns, Broncos, Jets, and Giants this week FWIW
  5. Even if the odds are 1-in-3 (which I haven't checked, but will take at face value for the purpose of this discussion), that's still a much better set of odds than drafting a QB anywhere in the other 250 picks. I'm also curious as to why you think that continuing the "let's see who everyone else doesn't want" approach is a faster route to winning? The team has been keeping picks and drafting starters for 20 years; it's been a failure. It's time to take a shot; I ask again: if not now, when?
  6. I've been leaning that way for quite a while now, so it doesn't surprise me. As I've said multiple times: when Allen is right, he's easily the best QB in the class. The reason he could go 1st is that a team decides that he was right often enough at Wyoming for them to believe that he'll be right often enough in the NFL.
  7. I love the Facyson pick late...he's a great fit for McDermott's scheme, and he's definitely a "process" guy.
  8. Sal is correct. For nearly 60 years, this team has taken a single approach to the QB position that amounts to nothing more than "let's work with whoever nobody else wanted". How has that worked out for them? Amazingly, I still see plenty of posts on this board advocating for that exact thought process. "Let's stay at 12", "fill needs first", "nobody scouts QBs well anyway, so it doesn't make a difference where you pick one". I don't mean to marginalize opinions; the fact of the matter is that 50% of the franchise QBs in the NFL today come from top-5 picks in round 1 of the draft, while the other 50% come from somewhere in the other 250 picks. The odds change significantly when teams get to pick from the premium talent. Be bold. If not now, then when? Nah...you can build an OL in FA and the draft in a single offseason. This team did it only a few seasons ago with guys like Incognito, Miller, and Mills. Try taking the same approach to the QB position and you end up where Buffalo has been for 20 years.
  9. Used ITP's board and ignored players that I was fairly certain would be gone in real life. I'd take this in a heartbeat: YOUR PICKS 1: R1P12 QB LAMAR JACKSON LOUISVILLE 2: R1P22 C JAMES DANIELS IOWA 3: R2P21 OT JAMARCO JONES OHIO STATE 4: R2P24 WR DANTE PETTIS WASHINGTON 5: R3P1 DL DERRICK NNADI FLORIDA STATE 6: R3P32 CB RASHAAN GAULDEN TENNESSEE 7: R4P21 LB JEROME BAKER OHIO STATE 8: R5P29 G COLBY GOSSETT APPALACHIAN STATE 9: R6P13 RB ROC THOMAS JACKSONVILLE STATE
  10. I must be doing something wrong, because I don't see Richie's "I'm done" tweet on his timeline, and I don't see this tweet from Vic on his timeline.
  11. Interesting... And yet I kept reading that "Darnold will go #1 overall" and that it was already decided. It doesn't really change much for Buffalo. Unless both NYG and Denver take QBs, Buffalo will have a chance to trade up for one of the top 4. QBs going 1,2,3 would simply take 3 guys off the board that Denver could potentially want at 5.
  12. Seems unnecessary to me. Cleveland isn't moving down from 1, and even if they were considering Rosen at 1 (which I don't think they are), the Giants can't gain anything by saying this...unless they think that Cleveland is stoopid enough to pass on a QB and take Barkley at 1 (not a chance IMO--no way Dorsey gets the job unless he agreed to take a QB). I would bet money that teams that want him to drop are saying anything they can to cast the kid in a negative light
  13. The way I see it, the only thing that can prevent Buffalo from getting one of the "Big 4" QBs (assuming that they like all 4) is if both NYG and Denver want a QB. And even at that, such a scenario can get blown up if the guy that they want doesn't fall. For example: Cleveland takes Allen NYG take Darnold NYJ take Rosen or Mayfield Cleveland takes one of Barkley/Chubb/Nelson/Fitzpatrick Denver has to want whoever's left between Rosen or Mayfield in order for Buffalo not to be able to get one of them at 5, 6, or 7. The other scenario is: Cleveland takes Darnold NYG takes one of Barkley/Chubb/Nelson NYJ takes one of Allen/Rosen/Mayfield Cleveland takes one of Barkley/Chubb/Nelson/Fitzpatrick This is a much better situation for Buffalo, because now 2 of the Big 4 are left at Denver's pick, which means Buffalo can get one of them at 5, 6, or 7.
  14. Nope. I've watched him extensively--He's overweight, stiff, and plodding. Got by on pure size and arm length He also showed up weak, slow, unathletic and disinterested in the biggest job interview he's ever had. Hard pass
  15. 4 QBs go in the top 6 LVE goes in the top-15 5 interior OLmen go in round 1 (not including college OTs that convert to interior) Eagles trade down from 32
  16. I can't see how some folks could watch Rudolph's throws to the boundary consistently hang up, fade, and miss their proper placement and think that his arm strength is sufficient to make all of the throws an NFL starter needs to make consistently. He's going to have to function in a timing offense that also features a good number of over the top downfield throws to back the coverage away. Press corners on the boundary will eat him alive if he tries to challenge them in the short passing game
  17. I was going to pick Orlando Brown, but someone beat me to it Instead I'll go with Arden Key
  18. I don't doubt that he could go as early as top-20 for positional value alone. I just don't see an ability to make all of the throws, which doesn't necessarily mean he can't be a starter. It simply means that he will be limited to very specific schemes and personnel groupings--not altogether unlike Nick Foles in that respect.
  19. His accuracy to the middle of the field and on deep throws makes him a potential NFL player, but anyone whose boundary throws need to be timed with a sun dial isn't someone I want to spend a high draft pick on. Add to that the fact that he played in a college spread offense exclusively, and that he never took a snap from under center in college, and we're getting further away from what he's going to need to be able to do on Sundays. He's a day 2 guy for me.
  20. He only played meaningful snaps on defense in 2 seasons. Snap counts by season: 2013 - 479 2014 - 130 2015 - 69 2016 - 59 2017 - 552 In those 2 seasons (2013 and 2017), he had 13 starts, and totaled 17 passes defensed and 2 INTs. By contrast, in 16 starts last season, Tre White had 18 passes defensed and 4 INTs. Gotta look at more than just the stat sheet. The downside is that he's recovering from an Achilles injury and may not be available until into the regular season
  21. Would you sign up for this one if Beane is unable to trade up? YOUR PICKS 1: R1P12 CB JAIRE ALEXANDER LOUISVILLE 2: R1P22 QB MASON RUDOLPH OKLAHOMA STATE 3: R2P21 LB DARIUS LEONARD SOUTH CAROLINA STATE 4: R2P24 DL P.J. HALL SAM HOUSTON STATE 5: R3P1 WR DANTE PETTIS WASHINGTON 6: R3P32 C MASON COLE MICHIGAN 7: R4P21 OT BRIAN O'NEILL PITTSBURGH 8: R5P29 RB KALEN BALLAGE ARIZONA STATE 9: R6P13 LB OREN BURKS VANDERBILT
