  1. No. He's a speed guy. Thats it. At his age he will never come close to being the same. He will probably get a few shots like obj
  2. At least they cant stupidly gift him to KC to smite the bills
  3. Id love to see a Mariners Padres WS (other than Cleveland of course)
  4. Basically what I expected. Best part was Jordan Phillips firing up the crowd for 5 minutes then taking out our best defensive player.
  5. Lamar can only stat pad when they are winning in a blowout?
  6. Maybe a move to buffer inheritance obligations?
  7. Yes, it is. They were 15.5 games back in July... and 9.5 games back 2 weeks ago, 11 games out on 9/4. They have won 17 of 19 and Detroit has lost their last 8 games. Not to mention they lost a starting pitcher and the best closer in baseball to gambling, and also traded their staff ace at the deadline.
  8. This Cleveland comeback is unprecedented.
  9. I think that Allen definitely throws a lot of shine on the Bills organization.... However, I also think they do a lot of things correct. They do right by the players, and treat them well like family. Many NFL players feel the perception they are treated like livestock and resent their organizations. McDermott is a great balance between a business coach and players' coach. I believe he demands respect for the coaches and the process, but will also know everyone's wife and kids' name among other things, and put family and the human side first. If McDermott out-lasts Allen, I think we will find he has a high floor as a coach, similar to Tomlin. If he and Beane can strike lightning again with a franchise QB or even find a Mayfield/Darnold/Goff type situation, we could maintain success here.
  10. If the CFL became a developmental league, in the Summer, it would have washed the 70 year history of the CFL, 100+ year history of Canadian Football/Grey Cup and people up there will not support it. It would die a quick death like all these other USA start-ups. I don't know why the NFL, who has been reluctant to start a minor league, would want to go into obscure Canadian markets and destroy a century-old tradition in the process. It is probably as simple as the NFL is more popular in Canada than the CFL and management figures that a closer replica of USA Football would sell better. Personally I am a bit bummed out. I always enjoyed being in a social setting with the CFL on a TV somewhere and being the only one who knows all the rules and can explain them.
  11. I wouldnt call this cheating. They were committing a foul and the officials failed to call it. I think the Eagles' 'cheating' on these plays is more egregious.
  12. That is certainly the next frontier. They have reached maximum growth in the US for the most part. International market would be huge, mainly the other hemisphere though. A full on European Division is probably on their mid-term plans, with a Conference long-term. As far as Canada goes, I think the only market they would want is Toronto. The rest of Canada would fall behind it as their team like they do for the Blue Jays (but at an NFL-scale). I could be talked into the idea that they would consider Montreal as well. There aren't many billionaires in Canada who could meet the NFL's price at this point. There is that Chinese guy, but he has a sketchy history and is relatively new money, and I'm not sure he seems like a sports guy. Then there is the Thomson family.
  13. The NFL is tough and unique to other sports. It is a 'strike while the iron is hot' as far as careers go, and useful careers are short. Players come in and are starters/contributors very quickly. They better group of that gets healthy and lucrative 2nd contracts. There really isn't too much of a development window, and if there is, it is just a season or 2 on the active roster. There is no need for a development league for the NFL other than the free one they have with the NCAA. The better players are now getting paid well there. A player in the CFL who is doing well and is 26 years old is already impossibly behind the curve. There is also a finite number of hits and punishment bodies can take. Taking hits while riding the buses in the minors only wastes career and brain matter.
  14. Preseason NHL is probably the most worthless of worthless preseasons. The rosters are all over the place. The Sabres were 6-1 last season's preseason.
  15. Ultimately that is it. I am being asked to plunk down thousands of dollars in order to buy seats in this location for 30 years. To me, it is a big risk. When the stadium was first being put up, I really wanted front rows of the 400s, until I started seeing these virtual shots. It does seem that security/ushers will really need to watch those stairways and keep them clear, lest people's views will annoyingly be blocked often. The railing itself will likely be livable in most seats. *Our location was in the 300s anyways and we are in the back in the end zone, right where we are now.
  16. There is a Toronto thread recently where a lot of this is discussed... But in my opinion, no, it wouldn't kill any of the Bills' fanbase. There are like a trillion people in Toronto. There is enough to support 2 teams. The pricing will be a lot, it would be corporate. In my opinion, most of the southern ontario Bills fans would remain Bills as a counterculture. Furthermore, I believe a Toronto team would spark excessive interest in the NFL (and there are many cultures there too and new pockets of fans). There is only so much 1 team can have as capacity for suites and all that. I could see Buffalo getting run-off from that at cheaper, more accessible prices.
  17. Zero chance the nfl wants franchises in Winnipeg, Saskatchewan, Edmonton, and Ottawa. Not enough enough wealth to buy in on 9 new teams. Also, the nfl owners arent going to enjoy splitting the pie with many needy franchises. Instant devaluation for all. If there is another nfl expansion, it will be big-game hunting. Toronto, london, I could see san diego or st louis. I think the explanation for these rule changes is simply that the nfl is much more popular in canada, especially with the younger generation.
  18. Good for him. Heard his name last night and was happy he has risen to a prominent job.
  19. Its tough to hire a spokesperson who people cannot understand when he speaks
  20. Raise the bar 6 feet and have a cross bar on top making it a rectangle. Ball needs to go through. Kickers are so powerful now. These situations are more common, and the nfl is whistling past the graveyard until something major gets decided by this.
  21. This is my line of thinking as well. The Ravens seem to have a much easier road now and an easier division. Better to bank another loss. Hopefully the Bills beat KC later and restore that cushion and then some.
  22. Lots of pouting on the Ravens sideline most of that 4th quarter Henry couldn't even play the last 2 drives after fumbling and falling into the bench
