  1. wow, he looks pretty great for coming off that surgery. it gets repeated a lot, but he is tough as hell
  2. easy question the jerk
  3. Snow is bad... but he has brought them to the playoffs and even had a series win, while playing in a tough Division. They also have and have had upside in their organization. Keiffer Bellows for example (even though they are in rough shape). I would guess you would say Milbury was worse... he was catastrophic, but was a slower-burn than Murray. Murray took over with an embarrassment of riches in good draft picks, cap flexibility, and young prospects. He managed to burn through it all like a drunk sailer at a brothel... in just 2 or 3 short years. Those trades are puzzling starting with trading 2 seconds and Brayden McNabb (who was highly thought of at the time) for Hudson Fasching and Deslauriers. 1st for Lehner (and roster trash salary dump), 3rd for a chance to talk to Vesey, a pile of prospects, picks, and a UFA chip for Kane and Bogosian, signing Moulson for 5 years $25 million, 2nd for Josh Gorges, a 3rd and Halak for Neuverth, the pile traded for OReilly, etc. Also his obvious awkwardness and general discomfort near cameras and microphones, he isnt built to be a manager. He created a lockerroom so toxic, I haven't seen anything like it, and that is just what has bubbled to the surface. He also left the cupboard almost completely bare by whiffing in the draft. If he would have continued.... no doubt he would have doubled down on his trades and broke the bank to extend Lehner and Kane (as opposed to admitting fault for losing them for pennies on the dollar or nothing).
  4. IMO Tim Murray is one of the worst GMs in NHL history. And that isn't hyperbole. He was that bad, and did it over such a short period.
  5. I think it is debateable He is nearly 31 years old, closer to the age of the manager/coaches than he is to the other players. He hit .220 last season and struck out a lot in A. He doesn't bring much speed (a requirement from an outfielder) and from what I hear isn't a very good fielder. He stands about a 0% chance of hitting above .100 against a major league slider (and other movement). He will probably be exposed in the Eastern League as it is. If he wasn't Tim Tebow, he wouldn't be where he is. Class A I was fine because it is so saturated with players and opportunity. When you get into AA, you are legit stealing an opportunity from someone else. I think he is a good guy, and it is impressive he was even able to hit as well as he did against young, pro-level pitching... but I dunno... kind of hoping this mercifully ends sooner rather than later.
  6. 1 homerun... but his stats will be poor there as they accumulate. a soon to be 31 year old in AA ball isnt normal or a good thing. last year, in A, he hit .226 with 8 homeruns and 126 strikeouts. i tipped my cap at him for trying, and good stunt by the Mets... but calling him up to AA was too far. he teally doesnt/didnt deserve it other than name.
  7. i hope they trade for obj. its only fitting the giants are directly involved in ending the dynasty
  8. No natural disasters and a lack of bugs and reptiles that can kill you
  9. IMO, this will end the Patriot dynasty. In many ways, Gronk is propping up that offense. They can't afford to lose him, he is Brady's safety valve, and he causes havoc in game-planning. I wonder if he has given the Patriots no choice somehow and has orchestrated his way out
  10. its a combination for me. its a nice size city but little congestion and nice elbow room. we have pro sports teams and draw decent concerts and shows. also striking distance to numerous cities... and even more places are within a moderate drive. we have great waterways... and i also like the climate for the most part. i will say winter gets a little long... but i like all 4 seasons. in a vacuum, with no friends, job, or family, i may choose pacific northwest, colorado, or maybe even wyoming... but wny would be up there
  11. it certainly seems like a house of cards there
  12. They cant afford to lose Gronkowski. If he isn't playing, the Patriots chances of winning the Superbowl (Id say the AFC too) drop tremendously. He is more and more of a safety valve for Brady and that offense that gets them out of trouble and allows them to move the ball in a pinch.
  13. To each his own. My first year in my house, I tried to fight the fight. Spent hours and hours applying products and pulling weeds, and was still losing the fight. I turned it over to a lawn care company. I do have a somewhat large lot and share a border with wetlands though
  14. pay a company to spray applications on it.
  15. I actually don't consider that a bad movie at all. Especially in light of how awful and formulaic comedy has gotten on film. This movie is actually really well constructed.... with a lot of funny subtle things packed in, and comes in at under an hour and a half. It might be considered a little 'sophomoric' for some people to sit through... but many, many people sit through 3 hour superhero movies that are all the same.
  16. I don't blame people for rehashing and discussing the past... its just I spent so much time doing it, I don't feel like really getting into it (trust me, I could get going). To me, the end result turned favorable, whether it was truly intended or not. I'm happy with that and am trying to stay in more of a positive frame of mind about the franchise moving forward. The team's stability in Buffalo in the later years had a lot to do with Wilson recognizing he was in advanced age. Move the team, he would have to dip into his pocket, pay a relocation fee, probably finance a portion of the stadium, build a brand/fanbase, etc.... which would be a great long-term investment... but he recognized the Wilsons were OUT once he passed away. It was much more financially sound remaining in Buffalo and collecting dependable shared revenue. Selling the team wasn't an option because his family would be double-taxed, on both the sale, then the inheritance. Basically running out the clock, being as financially prudent as possible was the mode of the Bills for a long time. I don't really blame him. It stunk as a fan though. I would argue, he almost paved the way for a move to Toronto with the series and agreement with Ted Rogers. Rogers passed away though and his holdings became kind of complicated and spread through the family who weren't on the same page. I would bet the general intent was that Rogers would be the buyer upon Mr Wilson's passing (Pegula was nowhere on the radar yet), and the team/league would already be greased into Toronto a bit (Rogers expected much more hoopla and excitement with the games).
  17. I spent a lot of years griping about Wilson and his management. I'm not in the mood to continue now that it is not relevant.
  18. i caught him on cowherd the other day. thought he was excellent.
  19. tim graham on the radio at 5 said he was in touch qith various people close to the kellys, and surgery was ongoing. i guess there was going to be a separate procedure to graft the fibula to cover some of the previously removed skull to ease some discomfort. they decided to do that one too now which they wete saying seems like a sign everything was going well
  20. I enjoyed the read. It lost a lot of steam though when he posted the multiple pics of the "kid".
  21. If I were a Giants fan, I would be hoping beyond hope that the Giants can pull off a good deal and get rid of this guy, IMO he is trouble and will lead to more trouble, not worth the headache and the cap money. If he is a clown now, how will he be with unlimited guaranteed money to set him up for several lifetimes? I know NYC and Giants fans though and they will riot.
  22. i thought it was going to be outlawing shoving the defender over when the pass was on the way
  23. I like the novelty of one once in awhile Living in Philadelphia for awhile, it seemed miserable. It felt like 2 out of every 3 games was a primetime game. It looked like it was a grind for fans to watch the games, and worse-yet, attend.
  24. My prediction: Bills Monday night at home against Jacksonville Thursday night away @ the Jets thats it
