  1. Honestly if we lose some fluke 10-9 game in a blizzard I'm not overhauling the organization over that. You make changes because you're moving onto something better, not just to appease an appetite for change. But if it's more ideal conditions and we get outplayed by an inferior opponent like things happened a few times this regular season...yeah. It gets harder to have faith heading into next season. But that's an enormous "if" because I just don't see it happening. We're gonna toast em.
  2. I’d say he’s getting prime Beasley looks. Different skill set in that he’s not quite the same magician in finding space in the middle of the field but a better occasional deep threat. Which is all to say it really has no bearing on eating up Gabe’s snaps. He plays a different position and we still need a WR2 but Shakir is capable of 800-900 yards a season.
  3. That award is mostly just a Most Improved Team award. But I'm thankful for Beane.
  4. Weather can be an equalizer, yes. But I'd say overall a weather game benefits whichever team has a 6'5 240 lb stampeding antelope at QB, and whichever team has 85,000 fans further disrupting the opposition.
  5. I always have to laugh at this. Like sure, let's pretend the QB who can put the ball in a one foot window from 30 yards away just missed his target by 5 yards laterally rather than that the WR did something wrong.
  6. I say this not as a critique of anyone but just as a reality - winning just cures everything. A lot of this board was putting stock in those takes and if the season had circled the drain and we finished 8-9 it would be taken by many as sacrosanct truth and further evidence for a firing.
  7. I always wonder about this because you almost never see it...on those 4th down situations with a desperation heave why are DBs not just knocking the ball down to gain field position? Seems like you always see them go for the INT? In a league where no stone goes unturned is this not something that's taught?
  8. As others have pointed out I don't think there was any world in which that game was going to OT. But let's say it had and your scenario played itself out. I think if they were like, on their own 45 yard line, they might realistically just run out the clock with the matchup in mind. If they were in actual FG range like on the Bills 35 they would have kicked to win it. Within the culture of the NFL you can't be seen to be not trying to win a game. It's bad for the product and puts a target on your back from the team you're slighting, not just for your upcoming game but for years to come. Just bad form and I think McDaniel, for all his goofiness, is a guy who would get that.
  9. 1. 49ers 2. Ravens 3. Bills 4. Browns 5. Cowboys 6. Lions 7. Rams 8. Chiefs 9. Dolphins 10. Texans 11. Packers 12. Bucs 13. Steelers 14. Eagles
  10. You may want to change the title of this post because as it is, answering “Yes” to the title is answering “No” to the imbedded question.
  11. I gotta disagree here. The clock was our ally and the strategy worked. Tua ended up needing to drive the field with no timeouts and got baited into a game ending mistake.
  12. Gabe goes quiet but then can go and swing a game all by himself on occasion. Sherfield is just kind of nothing.
  13. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/pass_yds_career.htm This may not feel like news but everything is relative for a guy that was supposed to be the most sure fire bust of all time. Currently sits at 97, passing a couple brand names yesterday in Roger Staubach and Michael Vick.
  14. I don't see that happening. Their whole track star routine has sputtered against every quality opponent, they're injured, going into a notoriously difficult road playoff environment against a team whose strength is getting pressure with 4 rushers.
  15. And Sam Darnold played a decent game for the 49ers today. In fact the only guy from that draft who isn't kicking around is "Right Josh" Rosen.
  16. There's a lot more good than bad. A lot more, just like there's been a lot more winning than losing since he got here.
  17. We need Douglas back for at least the second round. Dane Jackson can handle Allen Robinson.
  18. It's a fair question, but no I don't think you take a link out of a unit that's gelled for an entire season and put someone in cold off the bench.
  19. He played a game that was reminiscent of Beasley's best ones.
  20. Benford - INT, handled Hill well Rapp - Game sealing INT Hyde - Punch out on Hill to force incompletion and punt Poyer - Lays the lumber to set up a 3rd down Jackson - Huge tackle on Berrios to force punt, good coverage in spot duty T. Johnson - Big TFL, great in run support The Harty TD was the turning point and Josh won the game in the 4th quarter but man it was this veteran secondary that gave Tua fits when our pressure wasn't even getting home. Miami ran 17 plays in the second half total and got two first downs. Two!
  21. Packers are going to get it done, eliminating the Seahawks and Saints. Now the only NFC question is whether the Rams will win for the 6 seed or lose for the 7 seed.
  22. I have a theory that 32 teams is just too many. There aren't 32 starting caliber QBs in the league. There aren't 32 HC caliber guys in the league. Hell, there aren't even 32 starting caliber punters in the league. If it weren't for sports betting and fantasy football you'd have tons and tons of unwatchable NFL games.
  23. Who in the world could have guessed the reversal of fortunes between both teams after our loss to them.
