He walked away from one year at 6 Million, because he wanted a long term contract with more than 6 million guaranteed. If the Jets had offered him 18 million over 3 years wit much of it guaranteed, he probably would have stayed. They didn't because he's on the wrong side of 30 and has a history of concussions.

It's not unbelievable at all if you consider the fact that drugs, and methods of drug testing are constantly being improved. It's probably something that was difficult to test for before; perhaps they have a new test and all these players that thought they were beating the system are caught. This kind of thing happens in cycling and olympic testing pretty frequently.

I think it's usually used on an unrestricted free agent; there's not as much need to franchise a restricted free agent since you can match any offer they may receive anyway. Is it going to happen? No way in hell.

If this is open to all Bills, not just current players (and it should be), my vote would be for Howard "House" Ballard.

I think it's fair to worry until he faces some snow / rain / cold / ice and shows he can handle it. I think Trent's a really great pickup, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but to all those proclaiming "Franchise QB!" with visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads, just think - Carson Palmer. Even one season does not a franchise QB make. Again, not trying to be negative, just trying to temper some of the enthusiasm on the board.

This happens all the time, in all kinds of situations (coaches talking to each coaches, players talking to players, and coaches talking to players.) I don't see what the big deal is.

Maybe New England would trade us Randy Moss , Vince Wilfork and Tom Brady for McCargo. I seriously doubt anyone is going to give us anyone we would actually want for McCargo, considering he can't get on the field now, and it's not like our D line is playing all that well.

Could be because Williams has character issues, which usually (knock on wood) the Bills tend to stay away from.

Training camp is about getting into football shape. It's very difficult to do this while you're getting ready for and playing meaningful games every week; it's a different kind of preparation. His poor play definitely reflects the fact that he missed camp.
