Maybin did the same thing he does on every pass play, namely what everyone else has already pointed out: ran wide and took himself out of the play... what was nice about the play was that he didn't quit on it and was able to take advantage of a breakdown in the pocket and Flacco scrambling trying to make something out of nothing. Speaking of "trying to make something out of nothing", wake me up when Aaron Maybin becomes a competent regular NFL player. I'm guessing I'll have to change my username to Rip Van Winkle. One single decent play in 3 years means jack squat. Joe_the_4_pack is always right. Assuming everyone else is always wrong as he consistently takes the opposition viewpoint in every single conversation.

I bet on the Bills to win the Superbowl in Vegas
Punch replied to Frostbelt City's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When the original odds were laid at something like 150-1 I had considered putting $500 on the Bills... we have an office in Las Vegas and they regularly place bets for us. I didn't do it because I couldn't quite justify the expense, but if they happen to win it I may have multiple head explosions--- both good and bad! -
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It happens often, but with the Pats it's usually a non-factor.

LOL--- Exactamundo!

My Absolute Favorite Media Line So Far

How accurate is the sizing? I have an authentic NHL Sabres' jersey which is sized at 48 and it fits just fine, but 2 knockoffs I have sized medium are a bit snug.
-
I didn't watch it 100 times so I guess that means you win.

I agree. Wasn't it Ted Johnson that tried to sue BB and the Pats when his career was over because they forced him to play injured and take PEDs? I'm sure a book or two will be written at some point revealing how douchey and slimey the Pats' behind the scenes ops truly are.
-
Leaving him in late during blowouts and preseason games can certainly leave him open to a completely unnecessary injury (and it's definitely foolish and probably arrogant on Belichick's part), but asking a franchise future HoF QB to make a tackles is probably 100 times more dangerous--- considering the Pats' O can practically score at will, it's likely something that would never change the outcome of a game, but how often do we see punters make game saving tackles on long returns? Or Big Ben's tackle on Bettis' fumble near the goalline vs. Indy in the AFC Championship Game? I completely agree Marcia is a pantywaist, and I'm not specifically suggesting Belichick has ordered him to avoid tackling, but his style of play has not been an issue for the Pats' organization--- obviously. For the record, Fitz' blue collar approach matches his physical appearance (ie, the beard) which makes him the near antithesis of Brady's 'mani-pedi' slick image. I'd rather drink a beer with Fitz than taste wine with Tom--- and I'd also rather follow Fitz into battle on Sundays, not just because I'm a Bills' fan.

LOL I'd never have believed in a million years that I'd actually look forward to listening to Tedy Bruschi's analysis, but honest to dog, he's usually spot on and incredibly fair. The fact that he's now pouring it (ie, praise) on the Bills has put me over the top as a Bruschi Booster. Rather than looking at the Christ-like attention Tedy received back in the day as being about Bruschi himself I choose to associate it with Tom Donahoe and Marv Levy incompetence in the Front Office--- and heaven be praised those dark days are behind us. Now that the Pats streak is done, so too are the old headaches. Bruschi's alright... until he criticizes the Bills, of course

I love that Berman made a point to very deliberately pronounce the names of Eric Wood and Andy Levitre during the clip of Fred's big run right before the Chandler TD, to give them some a little national recognition. It's rare that interior linemen get any mention on SportsCenter or the like and it's another example of his affection and familiarity with the Bills. Fitz' arm was hit just as he tried to deliver the throw. I don't think there's any way he saw the interference developing but I do believe he intended to put that throw more toward the corner based on his gesture to Nelson and also where Nelson was in the endzone before he was interfered with. If Fitz wanted to put that ball there, late, then of course it was a terrible throw, but I don't believe he did.

Remember the last time the Patriots made the playoffs without Tom Brady? Me neither. Hey, I LOVE that Fitz tackles and blocks and puts his head down and all that--- I LOVED it about Jim Kelly, too. I'm just saying it's well established that Tom Terrific is a fancy lad and doesn't get his hands dirty and it seems to be the accepted attitude of the entire organization that he need not make tackles. They aren't paying him all that money to make tackles, just like they aren't paying Vince Wilfork to throw touchdown passes. Also, I sure as hell love the fact that Brady looks like a well manicured pussycat, but I certainly understand why he plays that way.

That goes for Woody Paige as well--- there's a whole collection of TV Sports Analysts that have close to ZERO knowledge and simply sell whatever shards of their soul are left in order to keep their mugs on the boob tube. It's Sports Entertainment, essentially--- it's just like Entertainment News, and you know the saying about Entertainment News: "It's neither Entertainment nor News."

When did you feel the best yesterday?
Punch replied to cmjoyce113's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There were so many moments that built one upon the other, but as soon as Fitz took his first kneel down I said out loud: "They did it--- the game's over." Obviously, Lindell had to make the kick (and it got a little hairy there for a second when the Pats indicated Fitz had fumbled and the false start) but when it became evident that Brady wouldn't get another possession in regulation a calm came over me that was utterly surreal. Not only had they finally beaten the Patriots, but they'd done it in a fashion that can only be called out-Belichick-ing Belichick. -
Amen! Today may have been the difference between supreme confidence and arrogance. After all, David didn't slay Goliath because Goliath knew the quality of his skill set and humbly tried to execute the playbook
-
Thanks, Simon--- and I was hoping Brady would get pummeled, too!
-
As much as I hate to say it, it was smart not only so as to avoid injury but because the Pats would immediately get the ball back--- at which point Brady knew he could just slice up our D like a hot knife through butter. Which is exactly what happened. No point in giving the Bills a few extra minutes of clock to kill before they punch it in from inside the 5. There were 10 minutes to go, but still--- he knew he could move the ball on us. But he's still a prissy pants
-
Definitely, I'm not sure the Bills have ever had such an intelligent group of players and coaches so in tune with one another.

This NESN article regarding Freddy's postgame comments on the Bills gameplan and how it was executed says it all about Gailey: http://www.nesn.com/2011/09/fred-jackson-bills-exploit-hole-in-patriots-defense-during-game-deciding-play.html

Not nearly enough praise for this group
Punch replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Simply outstanding, even with an injury to Urbik--- 86 pass attempts in the past 2 games against the likes of Richard Seymour, Tommie Kelly, and Vince Wilfork and 0 sacks. Simply outstanding. -
Even Sully sounds giddy--- a pretty heatwarming piece with some interesting tidbits: "It was the first time the Patriots had ever lost a game after leading by 21 points in the Tom Brady era. It was the first time since 1950 — which is as far back as the NFL's records go — that any team came from at least 18 points behind to win in successive games." http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/columns/jerry-sullivan/article571225.ece Warm fuzzies from perhaps the coldest prickly in the history of Buffalo sports commentary!

Clearly, there's a great deal of logic to this... but Brady still comes off as having the velveteen touch of a dandy fop.
-
Absolutely agree with this, he had a good game and was repeatedly held. There was one rush where he came wide around Light and just barely lost his footing, and he just grabbed Brady around the knees while Marcia threw it away into the flat. If he didn't slip he would've completely blindsided Brady and probably crushed him. I know, it's a big "if" but he looked pretty good, not great, today.
-
Yeah, that was pathetic. One of the NFL's bigger douchebags, and not because he can't compliment the Bills after a big win and a strong start.

The importance of this win will be amplified or diminished depending on how the season goes and whether or not it was the catalyst to something bigger. I happen to BILLieve it will be
