This blurb per Rotoworld: "This guy had a second-round grade at one point," noted NFL Net's Charley Casserly. Burfict is going to work out for NFL teams again next week, but he's been out of shape and thoroughly underwhelming throughout the pre-draft process. We wouldn't expect Burfict to be drafted before the sixth round. Mar. 23 - 7:07 pm et

I suppose I wouldn't really look at it as low balling if the open market seems to agree with Buddy's stance. Obviously no one's willing to throw starting LT money at an injury prone guy like Bell or he'd be signed somewhere by now. He's being offered fair value for where he is now at in his career: a quality starting caliber LT entering his prime with durability concerns.

According to Matthew Elder @BillsDraft the Bills have a strong interest in Patrick Walker, who is described as being similar to Roscoe Parrish: 5' 8", 184 lbs, athletic WR with "greased lightning" speed. It's not shocking they'd have interest in such a WR considering how much Roscoe figured into Gailey's offensive plans before injury derailed him each of the past two seasons. Walker is the opposite of what Nix has publicly stated the Bills were interested in in regards to a big physical WR---Would they draft two WRs, though? Is that out of the realm of possibility? http://www.buffalobillsdraft.com/2012/03/northern-colorado-wr-patrick-walker-interview/

What about DeCastro if Bell somehow comes back?
Punch replied to HornellBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was curious if the Bills felt confident in Levitre at LT and would then take DeCastro. That may be the best of the possible post draft line combinations, provided Levitre is best suited for LT, long term. -
Trying to make sense of that "took the sails out of my wind".

J Byrd - Anyone think he will go back to ball hawking ways?
Punch replied to 95altima12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought the bulk of last season was his best year so far--- he's become a much more complete player. Certainly luck plays a role in takeaways, but he has a knack for being around the ball, and with a vastly improved front 7 I fully expect his interception totals to increase. -
One final note from PFF. Though he was credited with 10 sacks on the season, the film reviewers at Pro Football Focus felt he should’ve been credited for being in on 15. http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2012/03/21/what-is-the-anderson-role/

TEBOW!!! is a Jet! (finally)
Punch replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jill Kelly @HJKforever Jim just explained to me that #timtebow had no control over the Jets decision. "Do you really think he wanted to go to the Jets." #WOW -
Buscaglia is referring to a conversation he just had with Bryan Scott: Joe Buscaglia @JoeB_WGR Bryan also told me he just got off the phone with Mark Anderson. Said he doesn't know what the outcome will be, but Mark was excited. #Bills

You can tell Mark Anderson isn't quite as coveted as Mario Willians. The Bills had Mario visit with Jim Kelly. They took Mark Anderson to visit Joe Dufek.

He did have back surgery at some point last season, but this is what I was referring to: ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Saturday that former Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback David Garrard, who was released on the eve of the NFL season, is not interested in playing for Miami Dolphins. Garrard says the Dolphins were one of the teams that contacted him after his Sept. 6 release and contacted him again after Chad Heene injured his shoulder against the San Diego Chargers. Garrard said the Dolphins "were not willing to guarantee me the kind of money that reflects a real commitment." Without a reasonable financial commitment, Garrard said he was not willing to embrace the Dolphins' 0-4 start. http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/2011-10-08/sports/sfl-miami-dolphins-garrard-1008_1_qb-david-garrard-jacksonville-jaguars-quarterback-miami-dolphins

41... by Moats, alone

Sounds like a Nix pick, hopefully in the 2nd round.

Wow... Lee Evans isn't fit to sniff Mike Wallace's jock, even though he may like to. For the record, I don't think paying a 2nd WR $7-8 mil/year is in the Bills best interest, but Wallace is nearly uncoverable in the right offense. He can run any route and has excellent hands. Lee Evans could run one route, and that's why his NFL may be over.
-
Didn't Garrard refuse to sign with Miami in-season last year?

Make it 7: Robert Gallery. Michael Lombardi @michaelombardi So to recap correctly, Laron Landry has agreed to a contract with the NY Jets and the Pats agreed with offensive lineman Robert Gallery

Did the logo definitively originate with the Howard Bison?

I thought it might be interesting to look at the list of NE's highest cap numbers--- it's not like the Pats don't tie up big money with individual players. Would you rather have Mario Williams at a $16,000,000 cap hit or Jerod Mayo at $9,333,120? Brady, Tom QB $15,208,120 Welker, Wes WR $9,515,000 Mayo, Jerod LB $9,333,120 Wilfork, Vince DT $8,608,120 Light, Matt OL $8,000,000 Mankins, Logan OL $7,000,000 Ochocinco, Chad WR $4,683,333 Gostkowski, Stephen K P/K $3,008,120 http://nyjetscap.com/Patriots/patriots2012.php

I think they'd like to see how this season pans out before they commit longterm to one or the other. FWIW, I picked this up from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ed Bouchette, who usually has a pretty good read on the Steelers: One thing the Steelers will not do is pay two receivers an average of 7 to 8 million dollars a year, so if they determine Brown is the player who should get that then Wallace will be elsewhere in 2013. However, if they give the money to Wallace right now then they will have determined that he indeed is that player. http://plus.sites.post-gazette.com/index.php/pro-sports/steelers/115409-ed-wallaces-options-may-be-down-to-one
-
Oh yeah, I didn't mean the Bills, specifically--- but to any WR hungry team with cap space. The Steelers wouldn't pay 2 WRs $7-8mil/year, which is part of their issue with paying Wallace right now. They're not sure if they want to make Wallace or Antonio Brown their #1 big money guy. I don't think the Bills would ever consider paying 2 WRs that kind of money, either. Bill Brooks and Quinn Early were not particulatly bad signings, I'm not sure what problem you'd have with either of them. In any event, neither Brooks nor Early are even in the same league as Mike Wallace, IMHO.
-
Wouldn't you draft him in the first round today, though, even at age 26? You know what you're getting and if any WRs are worth $10mil/year, Mike Wallace is one of them.

Waive Kelsey, draft Quinton Coples DE North Carolina

I stopped reading here... and not due to poor grammar. -
ESPN's AFC East blogger, James Walker, tweeted this earlier after Flynn signed in Seattle: James Walker @espn_afceast I know it's just a coincidence. But ever since Mario Williams signed with Buffalo, Miami’s QB search has gone haywire. #JustSaying

Based on what I see on the field, I'm all in on Floyd. If Nix/Whaley/Gailey/et al decide his off the field issues, maturity, and health are acceptable then I trust them. I wonder if he's fully committed to learning the craft of NFL WR. Nix and Gailey seem to have consistently targeted players that truly love the game and have leadership qualities in the draft, FA, and in the roster players they elected to keep. I do like this paragraph from CBS Sports' NFL Draft Countdown report--- it sounds like the perfect fit for our offense: Route running: Needs to tighten up his routes, but has the quick feet and balance to cut or come back to the ball. Should excel in a West Coast or timing-type of offense. Lined up at every receiver position to take advantage of the best matchup. Solid threat on slants, shallow crosses and in the red zone. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1633109
