  1. LOL--- I'll take that as a compliment! I think at the time the Buffalo News produced that video the extent of the injury wasn't clear--- it was later reported as just a turf burn and he did return to practice although his leg was bloodied.
  2. If 3 teams dumping Evans doesn't abate the Lee Love then I don't think anything short of Lee himself signing a sworn affidavit admitting that he is, in fact, washed up will do it. I really liked Lee Evans, one of my favorite Bills of the Dark Times. But it's probably time to move on. I'll be intrigued if they bring him back for a workout and interested to see for myself if he has any gas left, but if the tank's empty--- bigger fish to fry than arguing about former Bills.
  3. I seem to recall a collection of quotes from anonymous NFL talent evaluators that were pretty high on Easley's potential, some even indicating that if the Bills didn't take him in the 4th round there were other team's that would. I remember a specific evaluation that suggested if Easley had also started his junior season and put up similar production he would have been a surefire 2nd round pick, even coming out of UConn. The glowing remarks combined with his prototypical size and speed and several eye opening moments in each of the past 2 training camps are more than enough ammunition to get the fanbase going. Factor in the desperate need for talent at the WR position and it's a molotov cocktail of speculation and epic mythmaking--- he looks the part but his development has been stunted by 2 separate but equally fluky injuries. It may be enough to prematurely end a potentially promising career or he can continue to battle through it and shock the world. I like what I've seen from him and he has a great attitude, but Joe Buscaglia this evening reported that he's been very inconsistent throughout camp and is likely no longer a lock to make the team. Plenty of time left this summer to see without rushing to judgement one way or another.
  4. I know Bills players and coaches have made boastful comments several times over the past 10+ years--- the difference in tone is clearly felt here, though, because it's not really "boastful" at all like Donte, Greggo, Fletcher and others. Additionally, there is actually some impressive football on record that this group is building on. The boasts of the past were empty because there was no proof in previous years that the team had anything substantial to use as a foundation. The unwaveringly focused plan started with Buddy and Chan and is ultimately executed by the players. We haven't seen a stable solid through line like that in the organization's leadership since Polian and Butler were running the franchise. Count me amongst those happy that Stevie's #13 is Buffalo Bills blue.
  5. It seems inevitable at this point. Lee regularly had some of this biggest games against Miami.
  6. Every player in the NFL wouldn't be a fit on each of the NFL's 32 teams, right? The fact that Evan's has been cut by 3 teams in essentially one calendar could mean A) his playing style didn't quite fit with those teams B) it's a number's game and he's the odd man out perhaps due to age C) he's lost a step, negating his one true advantage or D) he's actually a closet douche bag. I wouldn't say Lee Evans on last year's roster would have demonstrably altered the course of the 2011 season, but it did potentially positively affect the 2012 season and beyond by providing several young WRs with experience that will help the team.
  7. To the OP: were any roving gangs of street deer in the area? Payback's a B word.
  8. What I recall from the Gilbride era is that the passing routes were unnecessarily complex and slow developing which was a poor fit for our offensive line and the 6'5" block of granite then standing behind center. IMHO, we didn't have the talent to fit his schemes and he never adjusted. I put this failing on Greggo as much as on Gilbride himself--- Coughlin has kept him under a much closer watch and the results have been better, although a much better QB is of course part of the equation. I may have unfairly lumped in Mularkey as Lee's best success came under him, but he never really evolved into much of anything more than a pure deep threat. Perhaps that's all he was capable of in the NFL.
  9. I'd agree with this, as well, from recollection.
  10. I can't recall Evans ever going over the middle, but I never suspected it was because he was unwilling until Chan somewhat implied it before he was traded. I had always put it down to poor offensive design and failure to maximize the team's talent by the likes of Kevin Gilbride, Mike Mularkey, and the offensive geniuses of "Pop Gun" Jauron.
  11. It's probably Jeff Littman, trying to ensure Mario never gets any game checks.
  12. If the list of 'locks' is as follows, then could the Bills keep both Easley and Martin (for special teams work) totalling 7 WRs? 7 seems like a slightly unmanageable number: Stevie Nelson Jones Graham Hagan Easley Martin
  13. As with San Jose Bills Fan, I'm very interested in several players that I've been high on from previous drafts--- particularly WRs from this past year: Stephen Hill, Michael Floyd, Brian Quick, the NY Giants' Reuben Randle & David Douglas et al, as well as Washington QB Kirk Cousins (although I'm sure he won't see the field barring injury), Jake Locker and Ryan Tannehill. I'm also very interested in Tampa Bay rookie RB Doug Martin (I'm pretty convinced he'll be a surprise fantasy football stud this year) and the Giants' Wilson.
  14. I agree--- Easley looked to grab passes thrown to him with authority, IMHO. He looked as aggressive in the Redskins game as he has in the training camp highlights I've seen or as he did working with the 1st team in preseason last year. I'd like to see him get more 1st team reps this preseason before I give up on him.
  15. Did Derrick Dockery and Langston Walker help him tape his fingers with double sided tape?
  16. I was being far too generous by implying the receivers would actually be catching passes. At the very least I should've added an asterisk!
  17. The Jags receiving corps is pretty interesting but limited: Justin Blackmon, Laurent Robinson, Mike Thomas and Brian Robiskie but beyond that are only rookies and special teamers-- of course, there's also Marcedes Lewis at TE. It may not matter who's catching the ball considering they're entering Year 2 of the Blaine Gabbert Era.
  18. It's possibly due to the fact that Bell hasn't quite yet acclimated himself to the Philly system--- or maybe he just isn't that good. http://www.cbssports.com/general/blog/nfl-rapidreports/19776599/eagles-promote-king-dunlap-over-demetress-bell-at-lt
  19. Mario said they were running their base run defense which is where Kelsay excels--- I'd imagine Anderson will be rotated in on mostly but not exclusively passing downs.
  20. Based solely on actually watching Maybin play (well into the 4th quarter) tonight, I can't see how it's possible he makes the Jets final roster. He looks exactly the same as he did with the Bills: taking a severely wide angle trying to speed rush the LT and getting pushed effortlessly aside, completely swallowed up on running plays, exhibiting no instincts on how to play the ballcarrier--- he was the defensive equivalent of a RB dancing in the hole with how indecisive he was on how and when to approach the runner. When the play went to the opposite side he took a sharp 45degree angle toward the sideline, taking himself dramatically out of the play as if he were a safety trying to cutoff a receiver in the open field. I honestly don't think I've seen that in an NFL game before. He literally didn't even come close to making a single play, and he was on the field for most of the game--- that's with getting single blocked all night by Cincinatti's 1st, 2nd and 3rd string LTs. I don't know what else to say. If he weren't so bizarrely arrogant I guess I wouldn't really care but it's fascinating to watch. So much for the training camp reports.
  21. That would be my expectation/fear as well in regards to getting shortshrift on events--- but as for the ceremonies, I think the logical solution would be to have one city host the opening ceremony and the other host the closing ceremony. Or, have the opening/closing ceremonies in both cities. I don't see this getting much further beyond the spitballing phase, but I kind of like the sound of The Olympic Bridge.
  22. After reading some posts from the Kick is Good I reflected a bit on the Bills' Wall fo Fame and realized, even after seeing his name for so many years, I had no idea who Pat McGroder was. This article from Buffalo Rumblings explains his major contribution to the existence of the Bills in Buffalo and proves he's a worthy addition: http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2010/9/4/1658230/september-4-1985-mcgroder-joins The next time you attend a game at the Ralph, starting tonight, gaze up at Mr. McGroder's name and tip a cold one to him.
  23. Actually, this is exactly what happened on multiple occasions. You're repeating the same diatribe over and over again as if it is inarguable gospel truth while avoiding/ignoring many salient points made by multiple posters. Yes, his numbers were pedestrian, and pointing out other pedestrian numbers by players on mediocre defenses doesn't really make much sense. They were pedestrian because they were mostly in garbage time--- in crunch time he was invisible. I realize you feel sorry for the guy because of his personal tragedy but that doesn't make him a good football player. Is it really shocking that his coaches and teammates are saying good things? Seriously? Rex is talking up Tebow, too. Is Tebow the 21st Century Johnny Unitas? I've heard glowing training camp reports from teammates and coaches about Naaman Roosevelt but I bet he gets cut. I don't hate the guy, but I dislike him for being a big mouthed punk, and one that fits in perfectly with the Jets and their fan base. I'm sorry for what he went through, but having limited success as a situational pass rusher with little to no football skills doesn't deserve a parade. I wouldn't be surprised if he has some success whilst further being isolated by the Jets coaching staff in favorable situations (which is smart) this season but I don't think I'd martyr myself over it the way posters have done for Trent Edwards and Chris Kelsay in recent years. Now please, repeat again how little time he had to prepare and the Bills individual sack leaders since 2009 and blah blah blah. You and Rex are alone on this crusade.
  24. I didn't realize having "a life outside this board" affected vision and reading comprehension.
  25. I agree 100%. And maybe one day the Jets will sign one because they don't currently have one on their roster.
