  1. I actually like their new jersey except for the cheesy "Browns" on the pant stripe.
  2. Because in such an unusual situation it's nice to confirm that it was a simple accident (hide and seek game between the kids) and not something more abusive coming from the parents. I was at a grocery store yesterday (Aldi) and when leaving saw a guy literally loading an entire rack of skim milk into his trunk. I assume he bought it but went back inside and confirmed that with an employee. The employee appreciated me doing that.
  3. +1 Perfectly said and exactly how I feel. Glad to hear Rex is thinking this way too.
  4. I'd agree if we had a more established offense and not an all new coaching staff. With the talent and goals this franchise has, can you really afford to give your fading project quarterback every last chance? Given the complex offense including needs at fullback and tight end and ground/pound approach can we afford to keep 3 QBs on the roster? I don't think so and barring an extreme tournaround or injuries, EJ will be cut IMO.
  5. There's a lot of math in this situation that doesn't add up to a 3 man competition at this point. Typically the 3rd preseason game is where you give your starting offense/defense the most meaningful reps to prep for the opener. 4th game is for the backups. Rex has now made statements hinting that the decision will be made after the second preseason game and that's where you realistically need to do it so your annointed starter can really build that chemistry with the offense. You can't start 3 quarterbacks in 2 games. Most likely TT comes in second in Carolina game and I'm thinking he and Cassel switch off for the Cleveland game. Only way EJ becomes relevant is if he finds that consistency, lights it up in the Carolina game, and TT or Cassel really fail in that game. I really like EJ and want him to succeed but practice reps and the reality of the situation are pointing the other way pretty strongly to me.
  6. I respect your opinion and you may be right about the overreach. I understand where you're coming from but respectfully would say they do have some idea about the previous games to go after it. Whether or not they can convince judge/jury is the thing.
  7. How do you know? You seem to only care about the direct evidence from the championship game but circumstantial evidence can be just as important. If you establish the protocol (texting, etc.) that took place in that championship game then see similar protocols/discussions at earlier games during the season is it BS or not? Testimony from Jastremki and McNally. That's what judge and jury are all about. The thing that bugs me about the NFL side is they really shouldn't need Tommy's actual phone. They have text records from the recipients and he had to pay a phone bill for that number and that should be enough to prove what his role was. Maybe they tried to avoid that level of investigational diligence.
  8. Sure, yea, right. Here's a guy who is really competent at what he does but the endgame of the franchise has been incompetent so Brandon must be responsible for everything and actually sucks at his job. Brilliant! Maybe we'll just cut Mario, Kyle, Hughes, and let Dareus walk if we don't make the playoffs because they're arguably the best D-line in the league so it's their fault.
  9. http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2015/07/24/dareus-focused-on-football-not-extension-talks/ Didn't seem worth a new topic, just another piece of the Dareus contract puzzle. I take it as a positive, especially since the team website posted it.
  10. Hey, they're gourmet! Actually I heard audio of the mom talking about the whole incident later and she was completely clueless and scatterbrained about it.
  11. If you have your first kid it's pretty easy to go to a restaurant when they're a baby and time it during their sleep schedule. It's one thing to go on a date with the wife, another to go to a family dinner. Family dinners generally take place earlier in the evening, like 5 PM. Kids got to learn to behave in that situation sometime, BUT as per most replies parents keep them on a short leash and remove them if they don't behave. It's always the jackholes like that couple in Maine that ruin things for everyone else. Freaking annoying!
  12. C'mon now, that's easy to say since everyone is on vacation! :-) Ever since Haslam took over the absurd has become routine with the Browns. Can't wait till training camp...
  13. I agree with what you're saying, but the Pegulas are trying to run a first class organization. As per Incognito and Kromer, that includes giving people second chances. It should also mean that they turn over every stone with this current situation but if there's enough truth there Kromer will be gone and I'm ok with that. I view it less as simple PR and more about defining your corporate values.
  14. Oak Ridge Boys, E Street band (with Springsteen)
  15. What about that team 2 hours to the south? I went to high school in Mansfield (late '80s) and it seemed like area loyalties (including those I knew in Cbus) were split between browns and bungholes. Not the same anymore? Being in Cleveland I'm mostly neutral but will root for the browns because they suffer much as we have. Plus my son is a big fan (daughter all Bills!). Nowadays I feel bad for them with Haslam as owner, they have no meaningful future.
  16. Exactly. Plus, if Kromer's innocent he can't come after the Bills for any contract violation because he's still getting paid.
  17. Makes sense to me but we just don't know for sure. Kromer wanted to "catch" them using his beach chairs. For all we know the kids may have used them, returned them sloppily to where they found them but Kromer was a hothead about it. There are most definitely people who get pretty worked up about someone using their stuff, even if they use it respectfully. Kromer should have just brought them inside instead of leaving them near the beach access point. In the end, the whole situation was over a couple of stupid beach chairs that weren't being stolen or destroyed. Hope it was worth it to Kromer. Maybe the kids were acting like punks, but it would have to be a pretty large degree and involve direct threats by them to exonerate Kromer, IMO.
  18. Definitely need to wait and see what the full story is but I think his 21 year old son's actions say a lot. "After Kromer returned to his residence, his son Zachery discussed the incident with the victims and helped try to find the fishing pole, according to the arrest report." If the kids were being jerks and provoked dad, would son really stick around and do this?
  19. Thanks for this. Here's what I see: A group of women are tying up one of the only access points to a busy bar and everyone's probably getting irritated trying to get up there for a drink. Our moderately drunk blonde is off to the right, behind the dude with the glasses. Johnson is just behind the group tying up access. When the group starts to leave blondie slides in next to glasses dude and Johnson shoves her (which gets her attention) then grabs the underside of the bar counter with his arms to help leverage himself through the space up to the bar. I believe this further pins blondie up against the bar and she turns back around raises her right fist with her thumb out. Johnson grabs her wrist at which point you can actually see blondie mouth the words "hey, hey" and start to struggle against him and try to gain separation (leg, etc). Finally she tries a weak punch and everyone knows the rest. After watching the entire video I feel like she was trying to explain to him that she was next and using her thumb to point out where she had been or something to that effect. I don't see her as being overly aggressive beyond the fact that she felt she was next in line. Having the whole video helps. But who knows what truly happened.
  20. Am I? As much as a they-should-micro-manage-every-last-second guy like yourself? You do realize soccer players get no real rest except the delays in kicking the ball and after scoring a goal? I guess the ref could have stopped the clock after the 4th US goal and Japan had their group meeting to try and rally each other too. I coached against a guy that once his inexperienced team was losing would come on the field after they got scored on and do 1-3 minutes of coaching before their ensuing kickoff. Great coach, would never do it if they weren't losing. When I was a kid in the 70's and 80's the refs never declared how much injury time was being added on. You just went until the whistle while the announcers tried to guess what the extra time would be. I miss it, because it definitely added to the drama of the game. And the game is not about a goal. It is about possessing the ball, then utilizing individual and team creativity/skill to create and take advantage of opportunities to score.
  21. Stop trying to rape the game and turn it into an interminable time-obsessed affair. Stopping the clock means throwing in commercials and TV time outs. One of the very best things about soccer is that 45 minute halves are pretty much 45 minute halves and completed in pretty much 45 minutes. It is beyond enjoyable to be able to witness an athletic spectacle like this world cup and not have it constantly interrupted Great game yesterday. Credit to Ellis for finally getting things settled and right these last 2 games. Congrats USA ladies!
  22. I don't know but for Abby it's 35.
  23. I think because Abby is still an emotional leader of the team and still has some ability to use her height/size and make a difference on set plays like corner kicks. But she will not ball handle up the field, quickly passes every time and seldom goes after the ball unless it's within 20 feet.
  24. Great game USA! Finally some fantastic soccer!
