Keith Ellison is second in the NFL in tackles
High Mark replied to metzelaars_lives's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Considering it will be 90% of the defensive snaps from that game, then hopefully yes. Its the least I can do. On second thought, I will include every play Ellison is on the TV screen - so you can judge for yourself. But I warn you my DVD player always seems to run out of space and cannot record a full game, so I most likely wont have the last 10 or so mins. -

Anyone who has a strong understanding of defensive football has noticed Ellisons shortcomings. Something as simple as backside pursuit or taking on a blocker poorly can result in 70 yard runs. This is where Ellison really hurst us. I have been asking of a tape of the Carolina game so I can make an Ellison lowlight tape. If you have a copy PM me. I will be recording and making a lowlight tape of the Houston game. This film should leave no doubt- Ellison sucks. -
The Bills have taken more snaps than any other D in the league - 492. All of those snaps allows them to accumlate more sakcs/tackles/interceptions. NFL.com says the Bills have allowed 138 points - good for 13th best in the league averaging 19.7/game. Our D is tied for 8th worst in the league in # of third downs converted. This has resulted in us being 9th worst in terms of yards/game. Furthermore, the D allows 19 first downs a game, which ranks 12th worst in the league - they just cant force punts and get off the field. By those stats the Bills D is in the bottom third of the league. Our offense shouldnt take all of blame - although they do rank 28th in the league with 15 firsts a game . There is another reason why our D has registered so many mores snaps than the O, like our soft zone coverage, penalties-we lead the league in them too- and Keith Ellison. Our D cant get off the field, and the O sends them right back on. Its just a dangerous cycle. IMO the two most important stats are points allowed/game and the number of snaps. Points allowed is an obvious one, but # of snaps is a much more telling stat than the time of possesion. The number of snaps means that either our D cant get off the field, our O cant stay on it, or both. Yes a good O can inflate that stat in the Ds favor, but the best D is a good O. I think in our situation its both, but more of the blame is the Os.

KW I think is the most under appreciated player on the team. His lose will hurt us in 2 ways. He cant play and McCargo has to.

You hit the nail on the head. I have never seen worse LB play than the sh*t Ellison puts out each week. He has been completely outplayed by Corto, Palmer, and Draft - which is saying something cause those guys arent very good. -
Nic Harris is a guy who has always played with a killer instinct and a fire that we need. Too bad Dick wont play him.

Carolina passed the ball 44 times (I think)

IMO there is no reason to hope Maybin developes when a guy like Orakpo is ready to roll. Ill give you the fact that Maybins ceiling may be higher, and that in 5 years he may be better, but Ill take winning now thank you very much. -
Why is D. Bell taking so much criticism here?

Wanna email me a file of the game? I would like to rewatch it. -
A+ fans, C- coaching. Only one is over rated.

From seeing the play live and the replays, I thought Levitre was pulling, a rediculous play call when you are on the goaline, backed up agaisnt your own goaline, or short yardage. Levitre turned his shoulders and ran (or so it looked like he tried to)which allowed the DL in both the A and B gaps to run right in and get the safety. Who knows what the call was, but I think he was pulling, which doesnt make it his fault, but the coaches. Knowing our coaches... he was pulling.
-
Yea you are right, I should just sit around for another ten years as the Bills "rebuild" and try to run and pass behind a bunch of other teams cast offs. Not every player on a roster is going to be considered a starter someday. D.Bell has played like crap for 80% of this season. Meredith couldnt make the Packers and Scott was cut from Detroit - sorry if I would like some improvment. Some people out there hate on Lynch for running poorly, but he has no holes. Others hate the QBs, yet they have no protection. Your mentality of accepting what you have is the same mentality that has caused the Bills to miss the playoffs all these years. PS I said "At this point" they are backup quality tackles. Considering Meredith is a third stringer and Bell is a first time starter simply cause we dont have anything better - please explain to me how they are not backup quality.
-
That is what I would consider great from a 3rd string practice squad tackle blocking one of the NFLs best DEs one on one. You do remember Kirk Chambers Miami performance vrs a former CFL player right? We need 2 more starting tackles.

Apparently, George Wilson has a new nickname...

changes in the lb core i want to see

Why the hell would you leave Ellison in? Here is a better lineup. SAM-Maybin MIKE-Poz WILL- No one And an even better one SAM-Maybin MIKE-Poz WILL-Harris -
LT QB DT/DE No QB could play well with the tackles we employ, so I think thats the more dire need. We could use a LB only because Mitchell may be out with his knee next year, but we have Digorgio coming back and Harris - two players a new coach will make sure hit the field someway or another. I feel a new coach will also move Maybin to LB because he sucks at DE. So I think we should be fine at LB. We still need DL help in the form of a DT and a DE. I wish these coaches would give Ellis a chance.

I said the same thing, but then realized that no other Bills (except for former bill Jim Leonard) has been in those spots to take advantage of those plays. While those picks arent super athletic plays, he is around the football. Yea he caused a lot of preasure that caused bad/early throws. He had Fitz on the ground a handful of times. For waht its worth, he caused equal to or more preasure than Peppers when he was in. Thats a lot more than we can say about Maybin.
-
Has anyone else been even more impressed with his tackling? Yea he has been in the right spot at the right time and made good plays on the ball, but his hitting in the open field is what I really like.
-
Jauron has ruined every QB he has ever had. Lets hope he doesnt do too much damage to Fitz. Trent while he royaly sucks now, was very good in his first 8-10 starts. I hope we get a real QB coach in Buffalo, Shanahann/Gruden/Holmgren, and he can actually turn Trent around or develope Fitz. They most likely will bring in someone else, which if fine because Im sure that player wont suck. That may be too much to ask but one of those coaches WILL get quality QB play.
-
We did stop them yesterday, but I blame Carolinas play call. Any run outside the tackles was a huge gain in waiting, yet they targeted the A gap which hadd half a ton of human in it.
-
Ellison is the worst LB in the NFL. He has had 3-4 big stops and 300-400 terrilbe plays. Ellison cannot cover, he cannot pursue, he cannot take on blocks. The only thing he does on a regular basis is suck. He is the biggest problem on the roster, bigger than QB and LT. He is not the sole reason our run D sucks, but he is 90% of the reason. Him on the field is barely better than playing with ten. His only value is comedic value. AKA when I laughed for 5 mins after he was pancaked by D.Williams stiff arm.

There must be some fan out there who records the Bills games every week. I would really appreciate a copy if someone wouldnt mind getting me one. A burnt DVD would be great, or an emailed avi. or divx would be even better. If you have a copy and wouldnt mind sharing please let me know. Thanks in advance.

You have to be 100% sarcastic. I wouldnt even want Ellison starting for my local HS team.
