  1. Im glad he is out. I dont want Dick ruining any natural talent he may possess.
  2. No one on the Bills roster unfortunately
  3. 14 JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS: TIM TEBOW, QB, FLORIDA Scouting Report Surprised? Crazier things have happened on Draft Day and I am really starting to believe that someone will select Florida’s Tim Tebow much earlier than they should. Remember, it only takes one team. That quote just screamed Maybin to me. Okung is the best pass protector by far in college. Reminds me of Joe Thomas without the height. He leaves much to be desireded as a run blocker though.
  4. Rico, after reading a lot of the archieved posts of yours presented to me by Billzfan4Life, I have become a big fan of yours. Not just because of your view of Maybin vrs Orakpo either. Its very evident you know your sh*t. I would love/loathe to hear your opinion on Ellison.
  5. Let me know when Chris Brown has one once of credibility. Orakpos only knocks were his knee injuries. Injuries which he came back from with avengence. I peronally would have much more confidence drafting a guy who came back from injuries at full force than taking a guy who started 10 games at 225.
  6. Love it.
  7. What about the long list of Penn State busts? Texas has produced numerous NFL starters, too. Plus grouping a player in with the rest of his programs history is stupid. Orakpo faced much more talent at Texas than Maybin did in his 9 or so starts at Penn State. Now Im not sure what you are talking about, his work ethic or charactor issues, but neither were in question. His work ethic is un-matched and his charactor is steller.
  8. That would help, but we cant stop the run in any quarter. The only hope for our O and D is the offseason. New coaches, new scouts, new players. This is a great offseason to switch to a 3-4 if the new coach desires. We really need to add some talent to the most important areas of a football team, OL and D front 7.
  9. You must of never heard of guys like Marvin Harrison, Randy Moss, and most recently Michael Crabtree - Guys that dont need time to develope. Forgive me for prefering guys who are studs from Day 1.
  10. For me its not about the draft slot as much as it is hoping for new scouts/GM/Player Personnel. 5-11 may get them fired and some new guys in, while 7-9 might allow them to stick around for one more sh*t covered season. The higher pick is just a bonus - not like it would matter anyway, see Williams>McKinnie, Whitner>Ngata, Maybin>Orakpo, etc.
  11. Bryant McKinnie - Oops Ngata - Oops We have a terrible history of drafting Lineman early. At least Wood can play with the big boys
  12. You can keep saying that for the next three years, hoping he develpes, and Ill keep saying "I told you so"
  13. Take note that the Raiders, like the Bills, suck. Their draft record over the last few years is only worse than ours because they have been picking higher. Drafting a multi year projet requires 2 things. 1 - the team does not need him to start right away, like a Steelers, and 2 - the coaches to develope such a player. The Bills havent had either for 10 years.
  14. Yea I see pick 8. Maybe we can pass on another stud lineman
  15. Name one game in Dick Jaurons time here in Buffalo that one of those two things have happened. You cant.
  16. Better than 225 And besides, he is stronger than 300lb guys. I wouldnt be bitching about Maybins size if he was as stong as an ox.
  17. Great athlete, average QB. Could never make the reads or be accurate enough to succeed as a pure passer. Made up for it with his legs though. He did win games. Id take him IF he was playing like he did in 03-04 or whatever his good years were.
  18. Ok I didnt realise that. I guess I am hoping a new CBA gets done. Very unlikely it doesnt.
  19. Hargrove - another played the Bills should have never released. Who cares he had off the field issues, he was one of the better players we had at the time, even though Dickie boy never played him. Where have I seen that before?
  20. Very good post. I often think to myself "I wonder where Maybin would have been selected if we passed on him?" My guess is not before Everette Brown, so like 44th or later. Potentially not till after Michael Johnson as well. Some idiots like Kiper and McShay liked Maybin, but other - and IMO more knowledgeable - guys like Mayock had him as his 5th best rated LB. Fifth!
  21. GT is ranked 7th in the BCS with their triple option attack. Flordia (#1 BCS) runs a variation of the triple option and is the #1 rushing team in the country. Alabama can run on anyone and is ranked #2 in the BCS. Teams simply cannot exceed without the run for long. Now draft me some more lineman like Wood and give it to Lynch and Jackson 40+ times a game.
  22. It is obvious that no one watches the games when half of the remarks are "they play different positions" Orakpo plays about 30-40% of his snaps at DE. The # of snaps he has taken at DE has grown each week since week 1. These are not just 3rd down snaps, but 1st, second, and third down snaps. If you look into the redskins fans opinions- they are pissed he is wasting any of his snaps at OLB, because he is so good at DE. The only reason he does not see more snaps there is because Andre Carter is having such a good year, and they have no one to fill in at OLB. So while he is a better DE, its best for the Skins to use him at OLB because they have a good DE and no good OLB to play in Orakpos place. And some of the "wait and see" remarks. Why wait 3 years for Maybin to turn into Orakpo when you pass on Orakpo in the first place? And the 11th overall pick is NEVER such a player. NEVER (QB is the one exception). That is what the late rounds are for. As for me not wanting this to be an Orakpo vrs Maybin thread, I didnt turn it into that, another posted asked for my opinion.
  23. Thanks again Modrak
