Has Dealer Doug earned benefit of the doubt?

After signing Hughes, how are we gonna keep Dareus??

That's a bit much. It's only football, after all. -

Not outrush. He won't be given the same opportunity as McCoy to do that. But, as he's done in the past, he will outplay this latest hotshot running back if given the chance. As in, he will look more effective and get the yards that someone else wouldn't. -

Great post. Everyone is giddy about the off-season but there is very little critical thinking going on here. McCoy has had a great line his whole career and has had two great offensive coaches. Look at how the backup RBs have fared in the Reid/Chip systems. If they keep Fred (which I hope to God they do), I think by the end of next year, he'll have outplayed McCoy. -
Fred Jackson cut??(UPDATE: Pegula says Hell To The No)
QB Bills replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seriously, eff this team if they cut Fred. What analytics are they looking at to tell them Bryce Brown and possibly Bilal Powell are better options at running back? Can't just be salary if we're in "win now" mode right? The guy has never had a line nor a QB to play with. And he's had one good offensive mind (Gailey) since he's been in Buffalo. I can't think of many players who could have done as well as he has. And the thing is, he's still really good. But the resident ageists can't see beyond their myopic view of what a running back should look like at 34. Sadly, it appears as though a few of them work at OBD. Also, some food for thought: He has less career carries than McCoy. -
I'd like to see him do well. He was always a likable guy. The Eagles would probably be the best place for him but they already have sproles so I doubt that happens. Just hope he leaves the afc east.

Bills, McCoy agree on new 5-yr contract
QB Bills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Apologies...I didn't see that the cap hit was down to 5.6 million. That's some good restructuring by the Bills. Still don't like the trade, but that's not a prohibitive number. Now re-sign Hughes, and get Bulaga and Iupati please. -

It's not my money. I don't care how much he gets. Just saying I'd prefer to have Kiko plus whatever money saved to get someone else as opposed to McCoy. -

McCoy at 16 million vs. Kiko at less than a million. Way to go Bills. -
Haha..good find Might have to borrow that one
-
Sorry mr dog. Definitely wouldn't want to fight you. Your arms must be massive from all that water you carry for the Bills.

This is insanity. There are probably people here who would justify if we had traded Dareus for McCoy. "He's immature anyway" "He will want too much money" "The defense was fine without him that one series" "We have Corbin Bryant" Whaley (and Rex, who actually might have had the final say) got fleeced here badly. A premier receiver just got traded for a 5th round pick. We gave up a potential superstar linebacker for a running back with more career carries than Fred Jackson. Let that sink in.
-
Its ok...we have Kik...oh wait, never mind.
-
Kiko 100%. This trade sucks. An LB group of Kiko-Brown-Bradham + an extra 9 million dollars sounds a lot better than what we have now. Serious question for the pompom-waving crowd...how much of a difference would McCoy had made to this team last year? Point being, the RBs weren't the problem with the inept running game. It was the line and the coaching. A few days later and I'm still pissed about it, and amazed that so many are thinking we came out on the better end. Not only do I hate the trade, but put me in the 'fire Whaley' camp.
-
I wonder if Chip Kelly has stopped laughing at us yet, especially after seeing this trade. Whaley has done some nice things here and there, but he needs to go. The Bills need a GM who understands positional value and the salary cap if they want to compete with the big boys. This guy is just winging it.

Miami leading candidate for Suh- update:signing with fish
QB Bills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't want Steppenwolf in this division. Sign somewhere else, please. Or better yet, sign with Buffalo. -
Didn't we draft this guy? Or was that Clay Matthews? Oh wait...it was Aaron Maybin. I always get the three of those guys confused.

Jerry Hughes signs 5-year deal with Bills

This should have been the plan all along. Mario-Kyle-Dareus-Hardy Brown-Harris-Bradham Williams-Duke Not too shabby... -
Anyone else worried about the defense?
QB Bills replied to die hard bills fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Barring injuries, the defense will be great again. Rex is a defensive genius. Would have loved to have seen Kiko back next year though. -
Who is the #3 Back? Boobie or Brown
QB Bills replied to PortlandiaEast's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is absolutely ridiculous if true. The fact he hasn't spoken up on twitter recently makes me think something like this might happen. Fact: Fred was way better than Bryce Brown last year, and now we're going to cut him? Yes, he's old in terms of conventional running backs, but he actually has LESS career carries than McCoy. This definitely makes the team weaker next year. So much for the win-now mentality. -
Bills to trade Kiko Alonso for LeSean McCoy
QB Bills replied to CNY315's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Stupid trade. Our running backs weren't the issue for the crappy ground game this year. Fred will outplay this latest hotshot just like he has done with everyone else in the past. McCoy won't have an offensive genius as a coach, nor will he have a good to borderline excellent o-line (with a hall of fame left tackle) to block for him. And I love how people keep saying that Kiko was overrated because of the d-line he plays with, and that Brown and Bradham might be better. Like they didn't play with the same players. Kiko was the best linebacker on this team, and he was under contract for two more years at less than a million bucks. And when that was up, he was going to be an RFA, not UFA. But yes, lets just say that he was just average after the first 5 games because he didn't have any more interceptions. Or that he sucked against the run because he took a bad angle on two plays, and leave out the multiple times he stuffed a runner in the backfield, or that the run defense was actually pretty good in the second half, other than the last game against the Patriots. It's like people don't even watch the games. Guess I'm in the minority here, but Whaley needs to go. He either doesn't have the authority (or the stones) to do what he wants, or he's just not good at his job. Just salary cap implications alone make this an awful move. -
Has Dealer Doug earned benefit of the doubt?
QB Bills replied to Bocephuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hear you. And I'm not calling the guy an idiot. I've reserved that name for Marrone for the time being. But I'm just not as sold on him as others are here. You trade up for a star receiver with a question mark at quarterback. And the next year, you trade for a star running back because you don't have a QB who can get the ball to said star receiver so you need to go run-heavy. Which they will soon discover they also can't necessarily do as they don't have the athletic o-line that the Eagles do. Meanwhile, everyone keeps talking about all this depth the Bills have at linebacker. They have Bradham and Brown at the moment. And maybe they'll have Harris next week. What else is there? And Kiko is better than all those guys. There just doesn't seem to be an end-game here. -
I seriously doubt this report. I doubt the Bills would offer him that much, and I doubt he'd turn it down if they did.
-
The Kiko trade is awful. This is manageable.
-
Say McCoy refuses to be a Bill. Would you...
QB Bills replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My ideal scenario is that this trade falls through because of this and Whaley comes to his senses.
