  1. Well the Bills cant find a better qb then Brady. He is better then probably 30 other qbs. Save maybe Peyton. And you could possibly argue Rothlesburger. Because of his two rings. The oline could not be far off N.Es , but so much of that depends on Peters. Also i think the Bills will sign a vet gaurd for a year maybe two. The Dline is an area that must be addressed. No one here would argue that. I think the Bills should go Dline in the first, with Rajii if he is there. Then go DE in second. Then OLine the next two picks. Interior guys that could develope and get playing time this year. And be your future starters. So much really depends on the next month what happens. Can Peters be resigned? Do Bills sign FA TE or LB. Honestly you can't chase another team. You have to make your own as good as you can. if you constantly worry about what the Pats are doing you are taking your eye off what you should be doing. We started to see some chinks in their armor last year. They have some older guys on that team. The lose of Cords plus some key players through FA or trades or injury can affect everything. The Bills are trying to win, and this FA period is now about waiting and letting prices drop on some solid guys.
  2. in the strengths it mentioned H Back. Bills will definetly draft him. They love TE that aren't realy tight ends but more like H backs. Just being a pessimist. Sorry
  3. Hey i am the biggest proponent that Oline is the area you have to settle first. However Peters doesn't give me a very settling feeling. And everyone that says just pay him is naive inmy opinion. You honestly think he will just play out this new contract and not be a malcontent in two or three years down the line? At that point maybe LTs are getting 13 million a year from a team like the Redskins or Oakland. If he had gone about this the right way. Shown up last year on time in shape and ready to play. I think he would have already gotten a new deal. The Bills have shown they reward hard working 'team' guys. Sometimes we dont like it, ie Kelsay, Schobel. But they will rework a deal.
  4. Its only a matter of time before Jake Long starts becoming the perenial pro bowl Left Tackle pick. And i say that not because i like him or anything but because the kid is hyped up a lot and so is that team. Voting on the o line for pro bowl is tricky. Once you get voted in you are almost a lock for a few times. Look at Rueben Brown. How many of us said how is he still getting to go to Hawaii? He was a good player that got the name and lived off it for years. A high pick who produced at a decent level. Jake Long has that written all over him. Then we will be stuck with a guy that isn't makeing pro bowls anymore but still leading the league in sacks given up. Trade him for picks and move in. Philly sounds like the best landing spot for him. Get there highest first and a third for him. Take a great left tackle with you eleventh pick. DE with you next pick in the first, then get 3 more players that could be starts this year in the next two rounds. Or at very least 2nd stringers who get lots of playing time. Everyone here says we have whole to fill, Peters lets you address them. The guy is a malcontent. And foolish. Sitting out with three years left on your contract is idiotic.
  5. 10 yd times is what every GM looks at for making a pic on interior Dlineman and Olineman. That plus bench production and technique from film. 10 yd time is so much more important to them then 40 yd times. Burst off the ball is what matters most. If a DE isn't quickl in his 10 yd time you dont want him as a high pick. You DE isn't the guy you want makeing a tackle 25 yds down the field. Instead a guy that can burst off the ball and blow by a O tackle is coveted .
  6. Fingon. 40 yd times dont mean squat for interior lineman. How many interior guys run 40yds. So the fact that you bring up Warren Sapps 40 time confuses me. The initial burst off the ball is what is important for interior guys. And from all the video i have seen on Raji show he is explosive. Any GM will tell you that the 10 yd dash drill is more important for interior guys. And their strength, ie 225 benchpress. Sorry but 40 yd times are not relevant for Oline man and Dlineman. Maybe DE but thats it. If you did not pick a guy because he had a slow 40yd time, but a good 10 yd time and strength, then you are just silly.
  7. No way they draft another corner anywhere near the top 4 picks. I am guessing you are being a pessimest by your comment. They have Corner, Youboty, McGhee, McKelvin, and Florence. If you tell me they go after one later in the draft i will buy that. And Whitner isn't going anywhere in my opinion. He sounds like a guy that really enjoys Buffalo and wants to make this team a playoff team for years.
  8. I like the idea of haveing Waters too. But would not want to give anything more then a fourth. So, like you pointed out about Pioli, i dont think that would happen. Mix that in with the fact the Bills just got burned by signing a 'big name' LG that was a huge disappointment, leaves me to believe the Bills wont want to give too much either. Rather, sign Simmons for 2 years .Starter for this year. Draft 2 guys, a center then gaurd to develope for a year. Simmons either moves to back up in 2010 or starts if young guys aren't ready. Then you should have 5 quality interior guys. In Simmons, Hangartner, Butler and your two draft picks. Walker (and for now) Peters are your takles. With Chambers and Bell as back ups.
  9. Last year ATL traded back into the First and got Sam Baker from USC. Kid did really well till he got hurt. Two years ago Tony Ugoh got signed by the Colts in the second and has started every game for them. It sounds to me like none of us here have a lot of faith in our FO to find a LT in the draft. I know, Captain Obvious moment. The perfect situation is Peters would play another year under his deal. That allows the Bills to see if Bell is ready to step up. Then at the end of next year either sign Peters (if Bell isn't ready after a year of playing in some games like Peters did) or if Bell is ready then trade Peters. Just getting Peters to do that is the problem.
  10. Ok so you sign Peters to a 5 year 60 million dollar deal. He plays well and goes to a couple more pro bowls. In three years from now two other left tackle signs a contract paying them on average 14 million dollars a year. Are you going to honestly tell me Peters wont want another new deal with two years left on the one we sign him to now? People who dont learn from history have a funny way of haveing it repeat on them. I got laughed out of another post for saying this same thing. People said 'thats not how it goes, once you sign your big deal you play it out.' I say smart people also dont hold out with three years left on a deal.
  11. I know the bills had Simmons in and put him through a workout for the achilles. I am guessing it went well. Was there ever any report on it anywhere? He sounds like the best bet for a starter next year. But they will likely draft atleast two guys in the first 4 rounds. If they only sign one FA interior guy. Then after the draft pick up 'camp guys' from whats left.
  12. 'Our Scheme'? If a guy is big and gets penetration and can also keep blockers from getting to LBs then he fits in any scheme. Thats simple football 101. Dlinemen are suppose to hold there position and tie up Oline man so Lbs can fill the gaps. Thats why Lbs typically lead every team in tackles. I think Warren Sapp was the base of the Tampa 2 D. And he had a gut and a half on him.
  13. Every interior Dlinemen has a gut. The Bills need another big presence in the middle to collapse the pocket and eat up two men. If you had two guys like Stroud and then maybe a Raji, the oline starts to run out of men to block DE and LBs. We have had way to many skinny interior lineman that are able to be blocked one on one. Big space eaters have to be accounted for by two Oline men ussualy. Either thru a 'chip' block or a straight up double team. This would make everyone on the D look a helluva a lot better.
  14. Also if the Bills are not really interested in him.And his agent is the one trying to bring buffalo into the picture to drive up the price form Tampa. Dont you think the Tampa GM might call the Bills GM, oh wait thats right he probably won't know what to ask for.
  15. Not suggs, my bad sorry . Thomas to N.E. Little early still . Brain Fart.
  16. He might want a big contract but i doubt anyone is going to give him one. There are too many other guys out there right now. Like one other poster said FA LBs are plentiful. That usually isnt good news for guys looking for a big payday. Of course there are exceptions for 'elite' LBs but Peterson i dont believe is seen as an elite LB. Good but not elite. And mostly because he is now in his 30s. Probably gets a 2-3 year deal. How much and do the Bills have it? Guess the Peters deal effects that a lot. But i wont get into that too many other threads.
  17. Anyone else starting to see that Baltimore is not going to be the defensive juggernaut they have been. First and most importantly they lost Ryan, the D cord behind it for years. Last year they lost Suggs, this year Scott. Now Rolle is gone. I know he is older and not been there for all the great D years in Baltimore. But he did have 3 ints last year and started 10 games for them. Ray isn't playing anywhere near what he was. Heck Leonard started for them last year for awhile. And Leonard is a decent player but not great by any means. At some point this is going to add up. And i bring this up because weaker AFC comp. means one more playoff spot open for the Bills. Your thoughts.
  18. It would also be nice to have two solid Vets surrounding Poz next year. Mitchell is a good player . Not great but good. And Peterson on the other side with Poz in the middle. Damn. That sounds like a very solid bunch. Then in the draft go after Dline help. It amazing how a good Dline makes a linebacker group look even better. Just ask Ray Lewis.
  19. There are still a lot of good LBs out there right now. I wonder if Peterson will last long though. The Bills and other teams look to almost be in a holding pattern right now. Maybe focusing more on the draft, and after that seeing what players they need. I for sure would not mind seeing him in a Bills uni, what was he making for the Seahawks? 30 LB still has a couple good years left.
  20. Metzelars had a knack for making some big catches. I overstated a little. But he had a good career, mostly because he was playing with very good talent around him. I would like Pettigrew a lot. But i think there are mor epressing areas of need. The D front seven and the Oline are much bigger needs. You address them this year. Maybe next year then you draft a TE in the first if you feel you are set at other areas. But if the Bills do draft a TE it better be in the first or second otherwise you are right back where you are now with another Derrick Fine or Schouman. I would see it as a total waiste to draft a TE in the fourth or so. If you go TE then draft on eof the best.
  21. If the Oline comes together. Then i think hell yeah. Plus he is in the third year of his rookie contract. He only has one more left after this year i believe, just a little extra motivation. He is a beast. And will break out this year. Probably get 4 game suspension, knocked down to two games after appeal. So he has to average 86 yds a game for 14 games. I will take the over.
  22. Do we really need a TE. Hear me out for a sec. You have Evans that might be one of the best deep threats in the game. Terrell Owens is great at running after the catch. I think he has lead the league the last few years in yds per catch. Josh Reed has turned into a great third option/ possession type of guy. Metzelars was not a great TE but seemed to always make the T.D catch when we needed it, but how much of that was because people were focusing on Reed and either Lofton or Bebe? To me, two good recievers make an average T.E look really good. Save the pick for Defense front seven. fine had a couple of nice games last year once he came back. Not saying he is the next Jason Whitten or anything, but he will probably look a lot better with Evans, Terrell, and Reed all lined up around him.
  23. I am not disputing his talent. But i am concerned about his desion making. The Bills have shown that if you come to camp and play hard they will rework your deal. Kelsay, Schobel, and Evans this year. Or the Bills make it pretty clear to you beforehand that they are not going to rework you curent deal and then you can play hard and get your payday in FA. Like Clements. Either way showing up and playing hard gets you your money. Either with the Bills or somewhere else. Sitting out with three years left shows just how ignorant you are. They owned him for three years, the Bills had all the leverage. But he and his agent still decided to sit out. Thats poor judgement. And dont tell me about making a statement. Everyone knew way beforehand you were unhappy, and rightfully so. He should get paid like a good starting LT. But he went about it totally the wrong way.
  24. He was not a great Left Tackle last year. Everyones says it was because Dockery. Ok i will buy some of that. But now he want sto be paid one of the biggest contracts in Bills history. You are going to tell me he is worth that? And for you guys who dont know anything about Bell i will remind you he is the same type of player Peters was, a project. And from what people in the orinization are saying he is doing really good. I will take them over any of us who probably havent seen anything. The FO wasn't wrong about Peters talent, and if they feal Bell is able to step up then i will trust them again. 11.5 million is too much for the Bills to spend on any one player. I hope they dont do it. Oh and by the way last year the Falcons jumped up back into late in the first and grabbed Sam Baker as their starting left tackle. And i think they had a pretty damn good year on offense. Baker got hurt near end of season, like Peters. But he played very good while he started. So you guys who say you cant get a probowl left tackle late in the first have 'no clue'. And Indys starting left tackle Tony Ugoh was taken in the second. And i think they have one of the best passing attacks in the game and fewest sacks.
  25. If you traded your 1st and Peters to Philly for their two first round picks. Then i think it would be pretty much a wash. Philly has the 21 and 28 pick in the draft. Also you could maybe get a third out of them as well. You get your Tackle with pick number 21 your DE with pick number 28. In the second you get TE and then with two 3rds you get two more OL.There are plenty of good young tackles in the draft this year. Not to mention we have D Bell who sounds like he is developing into maybe the next Peters, play wise. Peters has shown he always wants to get paid more money. And thats fine so would we all. But what happens in two years from now when another left tackle gets 14 million a year. Are you gonna say he wont want another raise? You know he will. And the Bills will be right back here again.
