I'm not sure player comparison is a good way to compare. Especially since someone like Stefon Diggs was a late round pick so he had enough negatives to take him to day 3. Diggs has the most catches in NFL history by age 30. He was an elite WR.

I think Diggs was good enough to be great in the playoffs. He just didn’t play up to his normal level for one reason or another. I don’t expect McConkey to get to that level and certainly don’t expect him to be someone that beats press coverage consistently. But if we could get a Diggs level player at 28 I would take that in a heartbeat. I’d trade up into the top 10 if I had to. I don’t really see that potential for Legette either but he is at least strong enough that he could be an X WR with time.

The game presentation/sound sucks the life out of the place as well. Music is turned up way too loud and pushes me into my seat. Players' individual goal songs are also very lame and suck the energy out of a crowd after a goal and pushes everyone back into their seats.

Love reading this post each year and seeing where you and I align and differ. I think I have two more games of Rattler to get through before I’m done with the main scouting reports for the year and my guess at the moment is Rattler will end up ahead of a couple of these guys on my list but it could go either way still. I also have an even more abbreviated scouting report for Joe Milton and potentially will do Devin Leary and Jordan Travis if I have time. I think my current order for the guys I’ve scouted is: Maye Caleb JJ Nix Penix Daniels Pratt with 4-6 all being close to one another.

We also need another RB. We cannot rely on James Cook all the time.

I mean absolute ceiling. His best trait is route running so Diggs is probably his absolute ceiling. But my whole thing is I want a WR whose absolute ceiling is dominant WR1 in the playoffs, at least with our 1st round pick. In the 2nd sure take McConkey, that's the right value for him. If his absolute ceiling is a guy that can't beat physical coverage outside I really have no interest in that player in the 1st round. And I can't think of anyone with McConkey's skill set that fits the profile I'm looking for.

But we also know for sure Washington isn't trading, in fact if they are trading they are most likely giving up picks to move back up in rd 1 for a tackle. The most intrigue in the draft is Denver, minn and Vegas and you totally robbed us of that with your Madden trade!

Yes it maybe a back up role but back up 3 tech will get a lot of snaps. They will likely play ~50% of the snaps. Do we have another position where a player @ 60 could get that many snaps (let alone impactful snaps)? Safety, WR, iOL are the only ones I can think of. Safety and iOL they would have to beat a vet for the job which shouldnt be an expectation, and I would argue 70% of snaps at WR is less impactful than 50% snaps at DT because every DT snap matters and not every WR snap matters. In terms of Ed's contract, I like the idea of him and a rookie ending their contracts at similar times so we can presumably have his replacement ready to go when his extension is at an end. I dont think that would be a tough pill to stomach. I would be pumped for obvious passing downs to have Rousseau, Fiske, Ed, AJ. Thats a young group that I think could get after it (especially up the middle).

The rink is a morgue because there is no faith. Nor should there be. The team was terrible at home for a long time this year and if they gave up the first goal they only came back to win 6 times. In January it was only once. They were something like 1-11 if they got scored on first at home at that point. They ended up 6-15. They were better at home later in the year but by that point they'd already burned any good will or hope the fans had. They need to show people they are for real before people buy back in. It's just been too long at this point. I used to get nice tickets for Sabres/Flyers games in Philly from a business associate. I've stopped asking for them. They are a waste of time. History says this nostalgia hire is a tremendous mistake. The odds of a Terry team bucking history are low.
