  2. I agree with questioning the concept that this WR class is a WR draft to end all drafts. Two parts to that: 1) are the WR really all that and a bag of chips at the NFL level? Experience suggests "maybe not" 2) is the class talent really something that won't be seen for years? Example: 2018 was said to be one of the most talented QB classes in years. 5 QB were drafted in the 1st round. 2 were offered 2nd contracts, with a 3rd who has shown some ability to play. 2020, which seemed to have less fanfare, had 4 QB drafted in the 1st round and 1 in the second - of whom all 5 are still starting in the league and have shown the ability to play well, 2 having played in (and lost) the Superbowl. Anyway, 2020 was a great year for WR with 6 drafted in the 1st, 2 more at the start of the 2nd; of those 7, the 1st and the 4th drafted didn't work out and the 2nd is only OK, maybe hampered by his QB. 2021 saw 5 drafted in the 1st, top 3 look great (drafted 5,6, and 10 overall) but so does some guy drafted midway thru the 4th. 2022 saw 6 drafted in the 1st plus another at the top of the 2nd. Top 3 look great, but so does some guy drafted at #52, halfway through the 2nd. It just seems as though pretty deep talented WR drafts are coming along pretty regularly, and that drafts where one position is super-hyped may not wind up producing the expected number of successful NFL players.
  3. Shaw... was arguing the Bills would be better next year before this draft even happened... so obviously, I agree with you. To me, the national media is somehow gifting Buffalo the underdog mentality, which baffles my mind... but I think we take it and run with it.
  4. Good post. The bottom line is Beane has a mixed track record with the out come of these kind of statements (or with just putting players who have been in a secondary role, into the lineup). He made comments about Cody Ford being hampered by injuries and "his best football is ahead of him"; next training camp, Ford was traded away. Nothing was said, but obviously Davis and McKenzie were expected to step up at WR in 2022; that didn't work out very well. In contrast, MLB worked out splendidly and there have been some other instances - I think Beane expressing confidence in Damar after Hyde went down, and Damar played decently enough "until". FWIW, I started a thread on this after Beane made a comment about "sometimes the answer is already on the roster" with a reference to last year's MLB situation. Basically my conclusion is pretty much the same as yours, except I included Bryan Thompson, an UDFA last season who quietly spent last season on the PS, just as Shavers did. I do think KJ Hamler has a better set of physical tools to start with than Isabella did - longer arms, bigger hands, similar size and speed - but I think the real Achilles heel for both of them is lack of ball-tracking skills and hands. And when a guy has been injured as repeatedly in different body parts (hammy, ACL, pec, pericarditis), you kind of got to wonder if his body is just not made to hold up to football. I think it's notable that of the Isabella/Shorter/Shavers/Thompson pack, Isabella is the only one who got the call and spent time on the active roster last season. As far as Coleman mentioning Hamler, Hamler attended IMG for HS and trained at EXOS pre-draft - so perhaps they encountered each other training in Florida?
  5. I like what Beane did in the draft, particularly his avoidance of mortgaging the farm to chase a replacement for Diggs. KC has shown they can win without Hill. It might take more than one player to replace Diggs' production but it will be replaced. Don't think for a minute Josh didn't OK letting Diggs loose. When you win double digit games every year your a draft expectations need to align with the reality of picking late. The way we drafted makes me think we are building a good scouting room and an organization versus throwing paycheques around. I don't expect Coleman to be Diggs 2.0 but I think he will be our Mike Evans. The changes in coordinators gave the appearance of turmoil and instability but they turned out the be the right moves judging by results. I am sold after going from 6-6 to 11-6. We are closer to the top with Beane-McDermott that the middle or the bottom. I thought catching the Chiefs on a Superbowl hangover last year was our chance but the threepeat is as big a mountain to climb as the perfect season and I'll enjoy watching our Bills spoil the party.
  6. This deserves a noisy LFG because Solomon has legitimate traits and legitimate production from a small school that has already produced legitimate pass rushers.
  7. I compared Solomon to Dumervil upthread... the reason being that both have disproportionately long arms. The tale of the tape:
  8. Today
  9. How often did you have them? It's hard to stop once you've gotten into the habit.
  10. If we got the long-armed Dumerville, huge win. If he adds juice on the edge, the D could really be improved.
  11. Honestly one of the WRs left in free agency are appealing but at least with MVS and Chark we get a deep threat on the outside. OBJ gives the experience and still has a little left in the tank and I’ve always liked Corey Davis’ potential and even though he’s been a colossal bust, maybe playing with Josh would resurrect his career
  12. Mike Evans ran a 4.53 and got drafted 7th overall. Supposedly that's exactly what Coleman ran at his pro day. Drake London ran a 4.58 and went 8th overall. So it's definitely possible Coleman would have been a top 10 pick if he had gone back and really dominated on the field in his 3rd year.
  13. If you think beane and McD don’t pick players , at least in part, for anything but pure football reasons then I’m not sure what to tell you
  14. If you don't know about the lizard people, I really can't help you.
  15. That's why the OP spelled it Colemen and not Coleman.
  16. Really that's what it has to be, it couldn't be that through the process Beane has interacted with him and knowing the Bills fanbase is a little excited for them get to know a guy he knows they'll enjoy. Or hell it could even be that Beane getting a bunch of stupid ***** for the pick but he knows that when people listen to the guy they're going to really like the guy. But no it has to be some sort of conspiracy against the team and city because that makes more sense. 😭
  17. I can agree with the best WR class in 10 years to the point of we should have done better in the draft and/or a trade. Beane did allude to having various ways to accumulate players before the start of the season so at this point I have no choice but to give him the benefit of a doubt. Looking back there’s 2 things that stand out to me about Beane. The first one is he has a tendency to shock people with his decisions/moves, whether it be in the positive way or a negative way. It seems like he’s trying to be ultra slick but sometimes it’s just best to play the hand your dealt and just take good players that fall to you. The second thing is outside of Diggs It appears to me that Beane doesn’t value the WR position very highly, with that being said I think the same could be said about the RB position as well. He’s always using later draft picks than one would like on them and/or trading/signing 2nd-3rd tier players at these positions. I think he relies way too much on Josh’s greatness. When is he gonna just go all in at these positions to help #17??! It’s redundant to keep on using most of our 1st and 2nd rd picks for the DL that isn’t really all that special.
  18. The play at 36 seconds is so much a bills play. Qb almost gets sacked and ducks out of to throw a quick toss to the hb. He takes it to house! its so easy to envision that on an upcoming sunday.
  19. I don't think history will look back kindly on the last 4 years of the Bills, just as we don't look back kindly on the 2012-2015 Colts.
