I can’t tell if you’re serious or not. You once wanted to trade Mario Williams for John Skelton so this isn’t even your craziest idea. Davidson had some success as a Division 2 punter. There are dozens of guys, more qualified than him to do the job. Obviously the Bills should replace Johnston will the most qualified, and best, guy.
-
Johnston’s best plays have come as a special teams public service video for what to avoid doing. His punting hasn’t been very good. Tough guy and I admire the effort after what looked like a pretty gruesome knee injury - but he hasn’t really justified the switch at punter.

Joe Don Looney?

They can’t stop the run, little pass rush, abhorrent tackling, third down stops are rare……

I was puzzled as well as AJ Brown is on the Eagles and this is a Ravens thread. Now as far as the Ravens, I feel compassion for their team and fans. These are some critical serious injuries. I don’t see them as chokers, just any team can only tolerate so many critical injuries to their stars. This guy is an excellent LT. I don’t have time to write down all the critical injuries to their starters, but just type in Baltimore ravens injuries update, and google will take you to an ESPN option. Most fan bases can be myopic in looking how bad it is for their team, but if you start looking around the league, some years it’s worse for certain teams than not. Look what happened to Detroit last year.

Agree. Roquan went out Sunday too, not heard an update yet. Reminder again that even some of the better teams in the league find 3 or 4 of their best players going down is too hard to overcome. Next man up is a cute theory. When it is your best guys it simply doesn't work. EDIT: worth adding as well that is even more the risk you take when you go for the stars and filler model of roster building. When I look at their roster I struggle to find a single spot where their depth is as good as the Bills depth. I can find plenty where their starters are better, sure, but their build relies a lot more on their guys staying healthy. I have been as critical as anyone of the Bills lack of stars, but it is right to credit them with their depth.

Which he never does. He is very good at finding scapegoats. Infuriating!

Evaulation (of this team) after a quarter of season gone
Bills aPHILLYate replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the "meaningless" can be interpreted a different way. Maybe "less concerning" is a better term. Of course the season victories play a role but when you're a legit superbowl contender over years; the season becomes just a long evaluation process. We can hang with anybody whether home or away in the playoffs. The glaring issue is this scheme. We've found various scapegoats for every iteration of it: Frazier, Edmunds, undersized LBs, corners not grasping concepts, safeties, lack of pass rush, can't stop the run, 3rd and long, bend but don't break, depth, McDermott should call it, etc... It's like someone throwing you a birthday party but you're uneasy because you know they're gonna smash your face in the cake. I say all that to say it's a very valid position for a fan of this team to take at this juncture. - Today

Haven't watched the Jets - Dolphins but have watched the Broncos and Bengals and here are my thoughts: - the Broncos offense is very Sean Payton. Power run game with multiple backs lots of use of them and the tight ends in the short pass game and the odd deep shot when defenses cheat up. But it is just a tad predictable and Bo Nix while capable is not Drew Brees. The ceiling for that sort of scheme is low; - on a personal level pleased for JK Dobbins. I thought he was an electric back coming out and injuries have really derailed his career but he is still only 26 and while the speed isn't quite what it was he is a nice scheme fit in Denver and a big night last night puts him 4th for the year in rushing behind only Taylor, Cook and Etienne; - their defense looked good (and won me a fantasy matchup) after a sluggish start to the year. Nick Bonitto has legit developed into one of the best pass rushers in football; - remember two years ago when Jake Browning was being called one of the best backups in football? This season he looks like a guy who can barely move the ball. The difference? Film. Two years ago when he started for Burrow they were his first starts as a pro teams hadn't worked out his strengths and weaknesses. They very much HAVE now and he looks brutal; - That said I don't think Zac Taylor is helping him. Every passing combination is so slow developing. With any backup you need to give him quick game and let him get the ball out of his hands. They are setting him up to fail... if the Burrow injury means (as I suspect) a losing year then I can see change coming in Cincinnati.

Because he has a monster leg and is more athletic than any punter in the league. Did you miss his 62 yarder ?? He's much stronger now than college

I just continue to hate the defensive scheme. I don't know how feasible it would be but I wish we could find a way to get Jim Schwartz back and hand him the keys. -
Is Hawes in the process of surpassing Knox as TE2??
LABILLBACKER replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
It would not shock me in the slightest that this is Dawson's last season as a Bill. Hawes is an amazing blocker and has shown so far to be a very reliable pass catcher. I'm not as caught up on angry run yac. Catch the dawn ball and Hawes does that. -
I know a lot of folks are thinking in terms of the present, but this very well might be our last go with this scheme. Brady was already interviewing for HC gigs this past season. He might have his pick of the litter this year with opportunities. There could be roughly 10 or so openings available (Tenn, Atl, Mia, Hou, Cle, Cin, Car, NYG, Ari, Bal). There's almost nothing for this team to add offensively (in any scheme) aside from a bonafide alpha talent at WR. It is a well oiled machine as long as Allen is at the helm and I will always be in favor of giving him top notch weapons.

If Only They Could Tackle..It's Not Just the Coaching
GunnerBill replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
He was also in all those meetings with Leslie as well and 3rd down D was not an issue. Nor was players looking confused pre-snap. I don't know what you are willfully not understanding but there are certain issues on defense that you can legitmately put at the door of the overall approach and say they are in part McDermott issues - run defense, inconsistent pass rush, DBs playing deep. And there are some that have only been an issue with this coordinator - 3rd down and pre-snap. I get it, the Head Coach ultimately is accountable for on field performance. But to say "simple as that" really does over simplify something with significant nuance. -
If and when Milano returns, just stick with the 4-3 and someone teach Dorian how to tackle. 3 linebackers should help Bosa's contain. Oliver & Walker are the future of our DT's. Bishop is still very raw by gradually improving every game. Baby steps... Rapp?...for a guy who launches himself like a "friendly fire" skud, he sure misses alot of tackles. Hopefully Hoecht & Hairston can have an impact before December? I'd hate to think of where this offense would be without Cook. I was wrong and he's worth every penny. Kincaid too is turning things around from last year. The Saints game execution wasn't perfect but this team reminds me of a cat playing with a mouse before ending it.
