This is exactly where I am at. Even if he doesn't fall off a cliff, getting a 2nd is worth it. The NFL is different now. You need the QB and then a good GM to get all the role players in place once he gets paid.

In the end I think Pitt was done with Pickens routine... maybe much like we were done with Diggs routine... and felt that this was addition by subtraction... at least Diggs gives you a few years on a new team before he becomes malcontent... with Pickens I am just not sure how he will react... he could really get it together and act like a pro or he could go to the lights of Dallas and get worse... I hope for him he figures out a way to take this and improve... but my gut tells me he is happy about getting traded... He gets Dallas and Zak etc... and he might just go off the rails again there... I suspect he continues his act... time will tell... I also think there may be some Rodgers effect here... Joey Bosa. There is a lot of clowning on the signing here but it is an excellent gamble. Bosa is signed to a 1 year deal. He has this year to show Buffalo (and the rest of the league) that he still can be "that guy". You don't do that in the trainers room. He will play through what would have sidelined him in the past as he's chasing one final big contract. Be it here in Buffalo or someplace else while we end up with a nice comp pick. He's also a fiery and emotional type player that has played the majority of his home games in LA, where almost weekly fans of the opposing team out numbered Charger fans. He is going to thrive here in Buffalo with our fans bringing the noise. Dude is going to be pumped every play. Also, I think they limit his snap count a bit with the rotation, especially after the first 6 games. Just a slight number nothing crazy. He will still see more than half the snaps IMO. But enough to keep him fresh and healthy. I expect a 10-12 sack season from him with games where he is an absolute monster.

Pickens wore out his welcome LY, with all his crazy and antics. This trade has been in the works for a while, hence the DK trade. Rodgers or not, Pickens was 1 foot out the door. Steelers would be better off tanking and finding a legit young QB.

Even if Cooper was washed (and he had 1,200 yards the year before with not great qbs), he’s still threat that DCs respect. Before him, we had no one that falls in the category. When you have Cooper, everyone shifts down a spot which makes them more effective. so the Hope is that Palmer is a younger Cooper with upside and Moore (who definitely have talent), and Coleman can take a jump playing with Allen. Personally, Palmer is very meh to me and played with one of the best passing qbs in the league for a team desperate for a number 1 wr. I do really like the Moore pickup. I still don’t know how really scary this group is but they certainly have some nice pieces and are probably league average when last year they were one of the worst groups headed into camp.

One of the few trades I dislike for both sides. Pittsburgh's offseason makes no sense. They currently don't have a QB and didn't make a serious attempt to draft one. If they want to compete they need as much offensive talent as possible. If they don't want to compete, why did they also trade for Metcalf? Offseasons like this are why they get stuck in wildcard purgatory. For Dallas they still haven't paid their best player in Micah Parsons and now they're trading for a WR in the last season of his rookie deal? And adding another diva to the team in their head coach's first year when he should be establishing his culture? I mean who is the last WR to leave Mike Tomlin and work out elsewhere? And I don't think Pickens really gives their offense the skill set it needs which is explosion and YAC ability.

My thoughts on Pitt as a whole have been that they get one more bite at the apple before they need to blow the roster up. They can keep Tomlin and Co. The roster is good enough to plug and play an established QB, but if they can't make it work they need to do whatever it takes to go out and get one. If I am Pitt and I don't get Rodgers the entire roster is up for grabs. Load up on capital to go up and get your QB.
