Maxwell Hairston named in civil lawsuit for sexual assault
Mr. WEO replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
what is your basis for saying their should not even be the opportunity for a civil trial? -

I agree with you here. A lot of speech is offensive, at least to some people, and for good reason. But a free society has to tolerate that because the risks and consequences of limiting speech may be worse. But here's what I don't get: some of the people who support your viewpoint are the same people who say that Harvard should not tolerate exactly the same kind of speech made on its own campus. So how valuable exactly is this notion of free speech?

You want an American politician stripped of citizenship and deported for his beliefs. You have absolutely no room to argue.

Brandon Beane "might be the most sensitive GM in the entire NFL"?
Mr. WEO replied to BADOLBILZ's topic in The Stadium Wall

The Woke Right
The Frankish Reich replied to The Frankish Reich's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Sorry, the question as posed initially asked for a, well, lawyerly response. Does calling for genocide (maybe not "genocide" but forced displacement of a people from their recognized land - think "from the river to the sea") violate college codes of conduct? So you got an answer from me that's not that different than the answer the Ivy League presidents gave: no, because unless it is aimed a particular people on campus, it doesn't fit the definition of threatened violence against those people, so 1st Amendment considerations mean we accept it as free speech. There's another question: is it offensive? That one is easier. Yes. It is offensive to call for the elimination of a people from the face of the earth. Always and everywhere. And a subquestion: is it offensive to say "from the river to the sea?" Is it offensive to say "Israel shall control Gaza and the West Bank and the Palestinian residents just have to move somewhere else?" I'm not so sure this one is categorical. It's a political question. UN declarations have always honored the principle of self-determination, but then the question is always "who is the self that gets to determine?" Displaced Palestinians and their offspring aren't voting in Israeli elections for obvious reasons. Russia, after forcibly killing or removing ethnic Ukrainians from much of eastern Ukraine, probably says "let's have a vote amongst the remaining (mostly pro-Russia) people about which country they wish to belong to." So this is more complicated. But since people seem confused by my take, I'll repeat it: calling for the elimination of a people is always offensive and wrong. Depending on the context, it may be a violation of a college's rules, but that requires an examination of the rule and the conduct that allegedly violated the rule. -
McDermott not in Top 10 of NFL coaches per PFF.
Royale with Cheese replied to 14774's topic in The Stadium Wall
Remember "Saving receipts"? You make it very clear Allen is the only reason for McDermott's success which is why you think Hackett and Gase would have also won 5 straight AFCE titles too. So basically replace McDermott with the above and results would be the same. And you're denying it. -

Some media reports are saying the Steelers are considering trading TJ Watt. If that happens (I don't think it will) then they are toast.
-
Realistic = It will be a tough season. We will make the playoffs but I don't see us as a "tight", tuned football team compared to Baltimore, KC, Denver. Even the Steelers could turn out to be a tough team. We are gonna be in the mix but I just don't see us getting to the SB.

You don't need to beat them consistently in the playoffs is the point. Just hold serve and we have simultaneously improved our chances and ended their season at least 40% of the time. -

Most of those jobs are in government sectors. Manufacturing lost jobs. Is still down 10% yes. -
Also, knock it off with this supposed belief in supporting social services for Americans. The MAGAs just voted to strip 5% of American citizens of their healthcare. The vast majority of immigrants are hard workers with jobs. Thats evidenced by the fact that ICE has to keep raiding job sites, and that Trump had to back track and pause ICE raids on farms.

I don’t know if I’d go that far. Mahomes had such a great roster and coaching advantage from the jump. Even if you play the “what if” game about getting a new HC in 2022 or in 2023 or even back in 2017, I think you’d be hard-pressed to find a coach who could hold his own vs Reid in the postseason consistently. And the further you go back, the less chance Allen is who he is today for the Buffalo Bills. I don’t think there’s any reality that like Daboll (not saying you’d want him, but whatever HC candidate you like) is our HC from 22 on and we are beating the Chiefs consistently in the playoffs. Or even .500. Shanny or McVay weren’t available but I think even if they were, the scoreboard would be heavily tilted to KC imo. Just really crappy luck. Curse of Bambino esque. -

I would even argue they barely contribute to W/L. Meaning, replacing a #1 CB with the #3 CB on the team (due to injury) is rarely going to be the reason a team loses a game. Its why I dislike taking CB’s in the first round. -
It’s not wrong at all. I just didn’t think there will be that much difference of opinion and I don't think there has been. I have the same opinion, this team could win the Super Bowl but realistically we should easily win the division and a playoff game or two; which is still a good year.

T master replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
If the person that was allegedly assaulted was a respectable person you would think that this would have been common knowledge ASAP after the assault in all cases but that's not what they do they wait knowing that the person may have a future with some kind of wealth involved then all of the sudden . SURPRISE Remember that night we had rough sex and I liked it, guess what - I'M GOING TO SUE YOU FOR THAT ONE NIGHT because now you make a lot of money and I want some ... Gold digger !! -
